Ricky thought his hair looked funny, and when asked how so, he said it looked like he had a head of chocolate fudge. Fred at first said Ethel's photo looked alright, but she told him that was his photo.

Ricky suggested they all go to the passport office, but when Lucy insisted they were going to get new pictures, Ricky and Fred didn't understand what difference it made how the picture looked. Ricky got a call from Mr. Emory inviting them to come and check out where the band would be playing while they were on the ship.

At the passport office, Fred and Ricky found out that the girls had to go to the office that day by five o'clock in order to get their passports in time for the trip.

Earlier, when Fred was talking about his fear of getting seasick on the boat, Ethel reminded him that he'd been on a boat when he went to France during WWI. Fred said he only came back on a boat because his sergeant had a bayonet in his back. Ricky and Fred went on the SS Constitution, which was tied to the dock, and Fred came home sick. Fred said he couldn't go on the trip, he was sorry, but he gets seasick. Ethel told him if she missed this trip on account of him, she was going to make him landsick.

Lucy and Ethel didn't understand how, with fifty poses apiece, they couldn't get one good picture. Lucy thought they weren't making cameras like they used to because the same photographer had taken her wedding photos fifteen years earlier and they'd turned out great. Ethel said she had a horrible thought, maybe they really looked like that.

After finding out they needed to go to the passport office that afternoon, Lucy asked what they were going to do for photos. Ricky picked one for each and said those were good, prompting Lucy to ask how he could say those were good. Ricky said because either they use those or they don't go. Lucy and Ethel quickly agreed that the photos were good.

To solve Fred's seasickness problem, Ricky suggested seasickness pills. Lucy said they could try them out on the ferry, and agreed to accompany Fred since Ethel had an errand to run and Fred didn't want to face the raging seas of New York Harbor alone. Fred took his pills and was doing alright on the ferry, but became tired. Lucy surprisingly became seasick, and took too many of the seasickness pills. Fred warned that they would make her tired, and before long, both of them were sleeping.

The attendant woke Fred up and told him they'd slept through five crossings. Fred was surprised to learn it was 4:22pm and struggled to wake Lucy and get her off of the ferry.

The passport clerk told Ethel he was out of there at 5:00pm and wouldn't stay even a few minutes longer. Lucy and Fred weren't there yet so Ethel called Ricky, who said he'd come right down to identify Ethel. In the meantime, Fred and Lucy arrived, but Lucy was still out of it. Fred said he was Ethel's husband, and the passport clerk said, "That's too bad". Fred said, "Well you don't have to rub it in", but the clerk explained that he meant she couldn't be identified by a relative.

After first identifying Fred as Ethel, Lucy eventually said, "Oh hi Ethel", and Ethel was sworn in.

Ricky came in after Ethel had completed her paperwork and been sworn in. He and Ethel tried to help Lucy sign her paper, but she kept trying to kiss Ricky. Ricky wanted Lucy to be fully awake when she took the oath, so he first smacked her lightly in the face to wake her up.

She came to and realized someone was smacking her so she took a swing at Ricky, spinning herself around in the process.

Ricky and Ethel finally roused Lucy sufficiently for her to take her oath. After the clerk (a devout clock watcher) had completed Lucy's passport application, Ricky and Ethel helped her out the door. As Fred was exiting, he turned, plugged the clock back in and said to the man, "You can go now!"
