Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Bang Bang"- After the initial opening scene, the time frame shifts to an earlier time. How much earlier did the storyline rewind?

Answer: 15 hours

In the opening scenes we see Willie Cutler gun down a casino employee and then run away. Then, the story line shifts backward to 15 hours earlier, where Janice Cutler is found dead inside her home. Janice is Willie's wife, but there is no sign of Willie.
2. "Bang Bang"- CSI Greg noticed that only one number was punched on both the home phone at the Cutler residence, and at Willie Cutler's workplace. Which number was seen bloodied on both phones?

Answer: 1

Each phone had just the number one bloodied. The telephone number 111-1111 dialed a local cab company. The team discovered that a taxi had taken the same man all over Vegas the night before, much in the style of Jamie Foxx's character in "Collateral". Willie Cutler had done this to give himself an alibi of absence during Janice's murder.
3. "Bang Bang"- How much money did Willie Cutler have wired to the Lucky Dragon casino?

Answer: $50,000

Willie claimed he'd lost all that money at the casino. He also claimed to have paid $5000 for an escort, because he believed he was going to be promoted at his travel agency. Jim Brass proposed that maybe the cash was for a hired hit man, who not only killed Janice, but murdered the men from Cowboy Dan's, where Willie worked and did not get that promotion after all.
4. "Bang Bang"- The Cutler's lawn boy confirmed his affair with Janice Cutler.

Answer: True

Janice had been having an affair with Timothy, who was alluded to be right around 18 years old. He said that mowing lawns was a way to earn extra cash for tuition, as he had no sports talents to fall back on. Janice was unhappy and they began an affair. The CSIs found grass from Tim's shoes in her bedroom, so that led them to the lawn boy.
Tim said they'd been in bed together when Willie Cutler had come home earlier than expected and ultimately found Tim inside the closet.
Thad Luckinbill, JT from "Young and the Restless", played Tim Johnson.
5. "Bang Bang"- Willie took a hostage at the Lucky Dragon, after he'd shot an employee of the casino. He told Jim Brass an elaborate story about being aided in his crimes by which person?

Answer: Sammy, his brother

Willie and Sammy had been involved in an auto theft when they were younger, for which Sammy spent many years in prison. Sammy had been out of jail for six months at the time of this series of events. Willie said he'd called Sammy when he was losing money at the casino, hoping he'd help Willie out of the problem.

He said Sammy came and took him home, where Sammy had ended up murdering Janice. The casino video showed that same scene, but no Sammy ever showed up. He went on to say Sammy had "fixed" things for his brother, by murdering his boss and co-worker as well. Grissom called Brass while Brass was in the hotel room with Cutler.

He told Brass that Sammy Cutler had died two months previous, so Willie was 'playing' Brass. Jim confronted Willie about this news, then called out the code word (Jim) to the SWAT team, and Willie fired two shots into Jim.
6. "Way to Go"- How many times did Jim Brass get shot by Willie Cutler?

Answer: 2

At the end of "Bang Bang" it appeared as though Jim had taken in just one bullet, and that it hit his bullet proof vest. Only, after the shot Jim was seen coughing up blood on the hotel room floor. In this second part of the season finale, we see the scene again. This time two shots hit him. One hits his upper arm/shoulder area, but the second penetrates his vest in the lung area.
7. "Way to Go"- Prior to the shooting, had Jim given Gil Grissom his power of attorney?

Answer: Yes

We see a cut scene to Jim handing Gil the power of attorney. This would allow Gil to make medical and legal decisions for Jim if he was incapacitated. So, it was Gil that made the decision for the bullet to be removed, despite the odds. Jim's daughter Ellie was irritated to find out her dad had been taken into surgery without her consent.
8. "Way to Go"- Caleb Carson was found decapitated on the train tracks. This man had an extremely compressed, 17 inch, waistline. What caused this tiny waist?

Answer: a corset

Caleb was a Civil War buff, and related to a man from that time. In that time, men would cinch their waists. It was a sign of affluence, apparently. Gil found out that from age 13, men were encouraged to take an inch off each year. Caleb's innards showed severe organ displacement and his blood was full of cortisone. Cortisone was to ease the pain of the ongoing binding. Sofia and Sara found a corset in Caleb's home, and there was a fingerprint on the corset which lead to Gregory Kimble, Caleb's assistant.
In America, an average size for a man's waistline is 28-34 inches.
9. "Way to Go"- What piece of evidence lead the CSIs to Gregory Kimble as Caleb's killer?

Answer: a toupe

Nick found a barrel near the train tracks with burning items inside. Along that was a stream, where Nick recovered a toupe. The toupe was DNA matched to Kimble, placing him at the scene. The team knew that it was not the train, but a bullet wound that had killed Caleb Carson. So, when they presented Kimble with the DNA toupe evidence, he confirmed he'd accidentally killed Caleb after a Civil War reenactment.
10. "Way to Go"- The episode, and season, ends with Gil having a conversation with someone about how he'd like to die. Who was he talking to?

Answer: Sara

Thankfully, Jim's surgery was a success. He awoke, after a brief near death scare, and everyone came to see him. He even saw that Ellie was there, before she ran off. So, at the end Gil was explaining to Sara that he wanted to know he was going to die.

He wanted time to get his last affairs in order and say goodbye to people he cared about. Gil was laying in bed, and Sara emerged from a bathroom with a bathrobe or nightgown. I guess Gil and Sara finally became a couple after all these years!
