Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of "Homecoming", about how long had it been since the plane crashed on the island?

Answer: One month

Claire awoke to what appeared to her as a circle of faceless strangers, and was terrified. She seemed to have lost her memory of everything prior to the flight. When Jack asked what she remembered last, Claire said that she was on a plane headed for L.A. Jack told her they all were also on that plane, and crashed on the island about a month ago. Claire asked, "If it's been a month, why hasn't anyone come for us?"
2. When Locke carried Claire in, they were surrounded by a curious crowd and flooded with questions. Which question did Charlie ask first?

Answer: "Is she alright?"

Michael asked if Claire was alive. Walt asked about what had happened. Charlie called out to see if she was alright as Jack pushed him out of the way and told the crowd to back away. Jack later asked Locke where Claire was found and if she was conscious. Locke told Jack that Claire had collapsed in his arms, and the question remained as to whether she escaped Ethan or if she was set free.
3. Locke and Boone found Claire one mile into the jungle in which direction?

Answer: North

Jack asked Locke where he and Boone had found Claire. Locke said it was one mile north into the jungle. (He also mentioned that they were looking for the dog, who had disappeared again.) Claire had been with Ethan for nearly two weeks and with her memory lost, they had no way of knowing what had occurred.
4. When Charlie spoke with Claire on the night she returned, she asked him many questions about the encounter with Ethan. Which question did Charlie refuse to answer?

Answer: "Why did he leave you?"

Charlie was patient and answered most of Claire's questions, though she was still very confused. He told her that Ethan was "the bad guy". He replied yes, he and Claire were friends, and explained that they were together when the encounter took place. When Claire asked why Ethan had left Charlie, Charlie turned away and avoided giving an answer.
5. When Ethan threatened to kill off the survivors, he promised that Charlie would be the first to go.

Answer: False

Charlie and Jin were walking back towards the caves and Charlie was rambling about how fortunate Jin was to be uninvolved and not to have to deal with the island's problems. Seconds later, Ethan's weapon attacked Jin and knocked him out. Ethan approached and overpowered Charlie, threatening to kill off the "others" one after another unless Claire was returned by sundown.

He added that Charlie would be the last to die.
6. When Charlie told the others about Ethan's threat, Locke said they had to think of a plan in what way?

Answer: On the defense

Jack wanted everyone on the beach and caves to gather together, but Locke insisted that they must think on the defense. If Ethan wasn't alone, he explained, they would all be gathering like sheep to be killed off. Jack then asked Locke for his plan, but first they agreed to tell everyone about what was happening.
7. When Kate approached Jack, how did she say that he looked?

Answer: Hungry

Jack was sharpening a knife in the caves when Kate came and tossed him a green fruit. She reminded him of the key he wore on his neck, which opened the case to the 9mm guns.
8. Jack did not want to give out the guns as weapons because he thought the people would shoot each other.

Answer: True

Jack told Kate that if he gave out the guns, everyone who heard a noise in the jungle would panic and they would end up shooting each other before Ethan. He insisted that guns could not be given to those untrained to handle them.
Jack stayed firm with his plan, until Ethan followed through on his threat.
9. What song number did Drive Shaft's "You All Everybody" have at the bar?

Answer: 134

Charlie and Tommy made their money for drugs by finding ladies to steal from. At the bar where Charlie met Lucy, "You All Everybody" was listed as number 134. (After the coin was inserted into the machine, the fingers were also seen pressing the numbers on the keypad.)
10. What was Scott's last name?

Answer: Jackson

Ethan followed through on his threat to kill off the others, and Scott was found dead in the morning. Kate said that his neck was broken, as well as his arms and the bones in his fingers. At Scott's funeral, Hurley read that his name was Scott Jackson. He also mentioned that Scott owned an Internet company in Santa Cruz and had won the two week trip to Australia as a sales prize.
11. Why did Boone fall asleep?

Answer: He was watching the fire

Locke's plan involved setting up four posts with "alarms" to cover the perimeter and ward off intruders (like Ethan). Boone volunteered for one post, along with Jack, Sayid and Locke. Locke paced back and forth like a guard with the spear on his shoulder; Sayid stood as still as a soldier; and Boone rested his head on the stick, knife in hand, and dozed off while watching the orange flames of the fire.

He awoke to his "alarm" falling and encountered Vincent nearby.
12. Who told Claire what was really happening?

Answer: Shannon

Claire noticed that everyone was avoiding and staring at her. She approached Shannon in the caves and asked why. Shannon replied, "I'm not staring" and Claire insisted that she was. Shannon told her what was going on, and Claire demanded to know why Charlie had lied to her.

She didn't understand why he wanted to keep her in the dark when she already was in the dark. She felt responsible for what was happening and agreed to be bait to lure Ethan.
13. The group had four 9mm guns and about 100 rounds of ammunition when they headed after Ethan.

Answer: False

Jack, Locke and Sayid each took one of the guns from the case. Charlie wanted to go also, but Jack would not allow him to handle a weapon when he was untrained. They offered the gun to Sawyer instead, who had his own gun from the Marshal, so in fact they had five 9mm guns. (The last was given to Kate.)
14. What name did Sawyer call Ethan?

Answer: Jungle Boy

Jack reminded everyone that the guns were a last resort, because they wanted to apprehend Ethan alive. They headed out into the rainy jungle, armed and surrounding Claire in five points. When Ethan took the bait, he chased Claire and Jack tackled him to the ground. Ethan was surrounded as Sawyer pointed his gun and said, "Not so fast, Jungle Boy." Ethan was shot dead by Charlie (who had retrieved Jack's fallen weapon).
15. The only reason that Charlie took the job selling copiers was to get closer to Lucy and scam her money.

Answer: False

The original plan for Charlie was to steal the expensive piece belonging to Winston Churchill, and sell it to get money for drugs. He took the job (unfortunately for him) and later told Lucy that he wanted to finally "be respectable" and to show her that he could take care of her. Lucy told Charlie that he would never take care of anyone before slamming the door.

This explains why Charlie was so desperate to take care of Claire, and prove that he was able to.
