There is no flashback during the opening scene of this episode. It continues immediately after the previous episode ended when Sayid returns from the French woman's lair. In the frantic opening scene, there is a lot of yelling and running, but Jack doesn't actually have a flashback until the second scene when the opening credits appear.

Michael tells Locke that he wants to help on his search party but Locke tells Michael that anymore people will just slow him down. Michael gets offended and says that he'll start his own search party. Locke tells him that that's a good idea and suggests Michael search South because he, Kate, Jack and Boone are going North.

Dr. Shepard says that the artery was severed during the car crash the woman suffered, but Jack insists it was his father's mistake. The hepatic artery is a blood vessel that carries blood to the liver from the heart. 'Hepat/o' is the medical combining form for the word liver.

The suffix '-ic' means pertaining to. The combined word 'Hepatic' means 'pertaining to the liver'. The renal artery carries blood to the kidney, the pulmonary artery carries blood to the lungs and the aorta is the biggest artery in our body and it has branches that carry blood from the heart to the entire body.

Michael is complaining to Hurley about how sick he is of being treated like a second class citizen just because "Mount Baldy" can catch boar. Walt comes along and defends "Mount Baldy" by saying he's very smart and Michael should listen to him. Michael responds to this by telling Walt that he doesn't want him to hang around Locke anymore.

Locke is unimpressed by Jack's behaviour and not only tells him the correct time but orders them to have a break. Kate, also unimpressed by Jack's behaviour, pulls him aside to calm him down and ask him to give Locke some space.

Walt is telling Sawyer that Ethan took Charlie and Claire. Sawyer asks who Ethan is and Walt explains that he wasn't on the manifest. When Sawyer suggests that maybe Ethan lied about his name, Walt tells him that it's stupid to lie about your name. Sawyer then calls Walt 'Tattoo' and asks him what he thinks is going on.

Answer: Fort Lewis

Kate tells Jack that her father was in the Ranger Battalion at Fort Lewis in Washington State. She explains that her father used to love being outdoors and she and him would spend hours hiking in the forests.

Sawyer twirls the razor in his hand in front of Sayid. Sayid tells Sawyer to go ahead and take his shot, but he reminds him that he left the camp out of shame for what he did to Sawyer. Sawyer tells him he's all out of forgiveness.

Neither Jin nor Sun appeared in this episode. Claire, of course, was kidnapped so she didn't make an appearance either. Everyone else was featured at some point.
