Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Wesley verbally interacts with an alien computer that, upon his demands, displays the current locations of Enterprise civilians via live video screen.

Answer: When The Bough Breaks

After Wesley and the other children are abducted from the Enterprise by the aging Aldeans, he is given permission to consult with the ancient computer that the Aldeans call 'The Custodian'. As part of his test runs, he asks 'The Custodian' to show him the current locations of some of the kids, which results in the video monitor displaying the kids working on whatever hobby or science project they're being encouraged by their new alien 'parents' to become good at.

But the always-clever acting ensign uses 'The Custodian' to his advantage, eventually asking him a series of questions that are instrumental in plotting his and the children's escape from the planet.
2. Nurse Ogawa assists with a medical emergency of a fellow crewmember on the Enterprise's bridge in this episode.

Answer: The Inner Light

Dr. Crusher's trustworthy assistant was rarely seen outside of the Enterprise's sickbay, and one of the few places we did see her beyond sickbay walls was the bridge in the penultimate episode of the fifth season. After the alien probe has scanned Picard and rendered him unconscious, we later see Nurse Ogawa, along with Dr. Crusher herself, squatting at the captain's side and attempting to revive him with their usual medical equipment.
3. Worf is in temporary command of the Enterprise and gets a chance to sit down in the captain's chair, but he is dressed in Klingon attire while in that temporary command position with a fellow Klingon, also dressed in Klingon attire, seated at his chair side.

Answer: The Emissary

In a clever plan to convince the passengers of the Klingon ship that they are no longer at war with the Federation, both Worf and the Federation's Klingon emissary, K'Ehleyr, have suited up in Klingon warrior attire and taken up the captain's chair and the first officer's seat on the bridge, respectively. Worf then communicates to the commanding Klingon officer via the bridge viewscreen in a persuasive manner, after which Picard and Riker conveniently exit the Ready Room with Picard himself personally giving accolades for his security chief's first successful stint of command.
4. A massive wave of lethal green energy begins slowly spreading from the aft section of the Enterprise; when it eventually reaches Ten Forward, the energy wave is terminated by Data before it can kill one of his fellow crewmates.

Answer: Starship Mine

'Baryon Sweep got him'. I will never forget those memorable words uttered by Kelsey, the lady in charge of the whole takeover operation of the Enterprise. It was a lie, of course, as she presumably killed one of her own men at weapon point late in the episode.

But the Baryon Sweep, which was designed to eradicate particles from the ship, did pose as a real danger to anyone still on board. It started from the rear and slowly progressed towards the forward section, which is where it ultimately wipes Kelsey away and endangers Picard, who had returned to the ship to get his saddle for horseback riding while the crew was evacuated to the planet. Thankfully, Data remotely disables the Baryon Sweep before Picard, after several repeated and desperate calls for help, meets his untimely demise.
5. Picard is both completely nude and physically tortured with a remote electronic device in this episode.

Answer: Chain Of Command, Part 2

One of the more painful, gut-wrenching moments during the series occurred when Picard is taken captive by the Cardassians after he, Worf and Dr. Crusher attempt to raid a Cardassian military installation. In an attempt to get information out of the Enterprise's captain, the interrogator named Madred employs two methods of physical torture: one, he has Picard stripped naked with his arms shackled and left suspended in the air for hours; two, he presses the controls on a portable hand-held device that instructs a surgical implant to produce pain in Picard's body.

It was very difficult for me to watch these torture scenes play out in an otherwise thrilling two-part episode adventure.
6. A cake, made into the likeness of Counselor Troi's body, is seen in this episode.

Answer: Phantasms

Humorous, yet disturbing at the same time, was the image of Counselor Troi's real head attached to a likeness of her body made into a sheet cake (with mint frosting, as Worf kept commenting) as she pleads for Data not to hurt her during the resident android's montage of nightmares.

The cutting of the cake, as it turns out, symbolized Data trying to destroy the invisible alien parasites that were revealed to be on Troi's body.
7. A 'glass-shattering effect' is used as a visual on-screen transition to move from one scene to the next in the final minutes of this episode.

Answer: Frame Of Mind

It is always fun when we get to see special effects of any variety being used! The 'glass-shattering effect' was definitely an appropriate way to show a mentally-incapacitated Riker moving from 'frame to frame', essentially destroying every scene that was not really happening before ultimately 'waking up' in the Tilonian clinic.
8. The Enterprise travels to a distant region of space where it has a brief encounter with an alien race of explorers, represented by the glowing face of an elderly man who explains that his people never venture outside of their homeworld.

Answer: The Nth Degree

Lieutenant Barclay's encounter with the alien probe results in him interfacing directly with the Enterprise's computer, enabling him to force the engines to emit an energy field that pulls the ship halfway across the galaxy. That is where they are soon greeted by the luminous face of an old man, whom Barclay reveals to the bridge crew comes from a race of explorers called the Cytherians.

These explorers, however, never leave their homeworld; the old man states that they instead send probes to bring outsiders to them.
9. Ensign Ro curses in frustration when Chief O'Brien, over an open com link, demands that the transporter controls of the Enterprise's shuttles be transferred to Ten Forward.

Answer: Power Play

When the possessed Counselor Troi, Data and Chief O'Brien seize Ten Forward and hold everyone hostage, Picard and the rest of his crew try to figure out a way to stall the trio while coming up with a peaceful solution. Their plan for retaking control of the situation is halted when the possessed O'Brien demands that all transporter access be rerouted to Ten Forward, including sensors from the shuttles inside the Shuttle Bay.

A frustrated Ensign Ro, who had been stationed at the tactical station on the bridge, curses at her failed attempt at ingenuity, then proceeds to give her possessed crewmates full transporter operation with Riker supervising and giving confirmation.
10. Yar is on board TWO different Federation starships in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Encounter At Farpoint

This one's a little tricky! The Enterprise's fearless, brave-hearted security chief early on in the series had at least three opportunities to step away from her familiar tactical post and venture onto other Federation vessels. In "The Naked Now", she is on the away team that beams over to the doomed science vessel, the U.S.S. Tsiolkovsky, where Geordi contracts the 'intoxication disease' that he spreads to her and eventually leads to everyone else becoming infected.

In "The Battle", Yar again is on an away team; she's exploring Picard's former ship, the U.S.S. Stargazer, along with Worf, Geordi and Data to ensure that it's safe before the captain himself comes aboard. Of course, the ship turns out not to be totally safe, as the Ferengi use it as bait to mentally trick the captain to resuming command of it.

Then in the epic "Yesterday's Enterprise", Yar is stationed on board the Enterprise-D in the timeline where she finally meets Guinan, but then ends up requesting reassignment to the Enterprise-C under the command of Lieutenant Castillo. So that leaves the series pilot as the correct answer.

The only Federation vessel featured here is the Enterprise-D itself, and that's even with the fact that the ship was separated into the saucer section and drive section. Besides that, there were no other starships in this episode present, not even the giant purple 'flying saucer' structure what was originally assumed to be an alien vessel hovering above Farpoint Station before it turned out to be a massive space-faring lifeform.
