Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 1, teams had to search for a postcard while at the top of which of these Asian observation towers?

Answer: Namsan Tower

In the first leg of the race, the eleven teams set off from the starting line in Seoul Plaza and commenced their trip with an entire leg in the South Korean capital city. In addition to getting their bearings in the Seoul city streets, the teams had to head up to the observation level of Namsan Tower and, using their keen senses, spot a race flag somewhere on the ground outside, specifically the Seoul Millennium Time Capsule at the Namsangol Hanok Village.

Then, they had to search the kiosk inside the tower for a postcard listing their destination to get their next clue.
2. In Leg 2, teams visited the Imjingak Peace Park near the Demilitarized Zone at the North-South Korean border. There, they received which of these clues?

Answer: Detour

The second leg of the race pushed teams out of the city of Seoul and into rural South Korea, bringing them right to the edge of the South Korean border. There, at the prayer ribbon wall, teams had the opportunity to write messages of hope and good fortune before continuing and receiving their Detour clue for this leg of the race.

In this leg, teams also got the chance to run a tough, physical obstacle course, pilot drones, and go white-water rafting down the Hatnan River to the Pit Stop.
3. The Pit Stop for Leg 3 was found at the top of Hang Múa, the Vietnamese mountain depicted.

Answer: False

While teams ended a long leg spanning South Korea and Vietnam in the fields of Ninh Binh, Vietnam, the Pit Stop ended up being at the end of a pier reaching into the rice paddies next to Hang Múa-- not at the top of this steep limestone karst. That said, and though the final clue for the leg advised teams as to where they needed to go, there were some who decided to take the stairs up, much to their detriment.

Interestingly, Hang Múa was also a Pit Stop in "The Amazing Race 29" during which teams actually had to climb to the top to check in.

In this season, however, it ended up being the first predetermined non-elimination mat of the race sparing Rowah and Amani.
4. At the temple complex at Bái Đính, teams had to search through which of these to complete a task?

Answer: Statues

In the fourth leg of the race, teams continued to work their way through the Ninh Binh area, making stops at a number of historical villages and temples en route to their next Pit Stop. The last part of the leg sent the remaining nine teams to the Bái Đính temple complex, home to the tallest pagoda in Southeast Asia, where they needed to locate a specific statue, ring the bell at the bell tower, then rush (walk, not run) to the Pit Stop at the Hồ Tiên reflecting pool.
5. Legs 5 and 6 took teams to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and both parts of the race sent them to which desert?

Answer: Gobi

Heading out from Vietnam in Leg 5, teams spent two legs of the race leading up to the halfway point in Mongolia completing tasks in and around the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. Leg 5 had teams visiting the temples and memorials of the capital before navigating the Gobi Desert (at one point on camel-back) in the Mongol Els Sand Dunes. Leg 6 had them backtrack, digging in the dunes, joining in local sporting events on the steppes, and learning customs in the city before checking in at an outlying camp. Two new teams finally had the chance to snag first place slots (after a four-leg win streak from Tom and Tyler) while two teams were eliminated, one due to injury and the other due to falling behind.
6. In Leg 7, teams had the opportunity to visit which of these natural wonders?

Answer: Victoria Falls

The sixth leg of the race had teams fly to Zambia and Zimbabwe where they had the chance to fly high above Victoria Falls and get down-to-earth with the locals in African villages. Teams had to contend with a Road Block a Detour, and an Intersection in this leg of the race but capped off their experience in the African savannah with a boat ride to Livingstone Island overlooking the Victoria Falls from above. Teams checked in at the Pit Stop in an elephant reserve to find their second non-elimination mat of the race.
7. In Leg 8, team members performed a terrifying rope swing at Batoka Gorge on which of these African rivers?

Answer: Zambesi

To begin Leg 8, the remaining six teams needed to head to Batoka Gorge for their Road Block task which involved choosing one team member to take a harrowing swing into Batoka Gorge. Because Sid and Ash placed last in the previous leg and survived, they ended up needing to do the task twice-- once for each team member-- as a Speed Bump.

The pair managed to slip ahead in some of the later tasks of the leg, but they were eliminated after incurring an hour-long penalty for speeding. The teams behind them managed to arrive at the Pit Stop, edging out the influencer couple by about thirty seconds.
8. Legs 9 and 10 of the race were held in what nation, also known as 'The Beating Heart of Africa'?

Answer: Malawi

Teams travelled from the waterfalls, gorges, and savannahs of Zambia and Zimbabwe to a whole other part of Africa in Leg 9, travelling to Lilongwe, Malawi for two legs of the race and engaging with tasks in marketplaces and small villages of the urban center and along the shores of Lake Malawi, one of the largest bodies of water on the continent. What followed was a physically demanding set of legs in the intense African heat during which teams encountered the final non-elimination Pit Stop and winnowed the playing field to four teams as Femi and Nick were eliminated.
9. In the city of Bangkok, Thailand, during the penultimate leg of the race, teams had to do which of the following before checking into the Pit Stop?

Answer: Gold-leaf a statue of Buddha

On a particularly rainy day, teams arrived in Bangkok for the second-to-last stop of the race and pushed through some unorthodox tasks on their way to the finals. This leg, teams ate century eggs, put together tuk-tuks, rode longtail boats on the Chao Phraya River, fitted dentures, and gold-leafed statues before arriving at the Pit Stop in a tense final rush.

This leg also saw another U-Turn vote during which front-runners Tom and Tyler were required to complete both Detour tasks. They managed to do so in good time, but were overtaken in the final task and eliminated on a strong record of eight prior leg victories (in eleven legs), an international "Amazing Race" record for an eliminated team.
10. The final leg of the race took teams to Darwin and Katherine in Australia's Northern Territory. For their final task, teams needed to use which of the following modes of transport?

Answer: Kayak

For their last leg, teams returned to Australia and completed their race around the world in the region surrounding Darwin. The leg required all manner of skills, notably those which recalled their memories, tested their grit, forced them to utilize patience, and required them to use brute strength and teamwork.

The final task took teams to the Nitmiluk Gorge and there they had to paddle kayaks to collect puzzle pieces which they could use to properly assemble a wooden puzzle testing their knowledge of the previous six countries visited on the race. Tim and Rod managed to finish this task first, crossing the finish line and winning the grand prize.
