Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On day one of the competition, the thirteen queens of season twelve entered the work room.

Answer: False

There were thirteen queens introduced in this season-- that's perfectly on-point-- but they were introduced over two episodes, not unlike the queens of season six. The first episode saw the introduction of seven queens, all of whom had to write verses to a rap song called "I'm That Bitch"; the second saw the second set of six performing a Fosse-inspired number called "You Don't Know Me".

In both cases, no one was eliminated, but the top two for each song lip-synced for the challenge win, taking home a cash tip in each case. Following episode two, the queens united for the remainder of the competition.
2. From the start of the airing of this season, production was marred by allegations against what competing queen who was subsequently disqualified from the competition?

Answer: Sherry Pie

At the start of March 2020, shortly before the airing of the show's second episode, victims of Sherry Pie's sexual misconduct stepped forward and the resulting information led to the queen's immediate disqualification from the competition. Since the show was filmed in 2019, World of Wonder opted to show the season in its entirety. What they did do, however, was opt to remove Sherry Pie from the yet-to-be-filmed live finale (regardless of placement, though she was in the final four), match her winnings as donations to The Trevor Project, and re-edit the show on the fly to reduce the queen's airtime.
3. In the third week of the competition, the queens acted in a 'World's Worst' talent show. In a running joke for the season, Dahlia Sin dressed as which of these?

Answer: Broccoli

Technically, Dahlia was playing a devoted 'broc-ally'. This week ended up being the first significant challenge of the season in terms of progress as it was the first week in which a queen was up to lipsync for their life. After an improv challenge themed around a bad talent show, Ru placed Dahlia Sin and Nicky Doll into the bottom two and Dahlia was sent home first.

The running gag persisted throughout the season though, with most episodes featuring Dahlia dressed as a 'broc-ally' either as a background image or as a member of a live audience.

It effectively made her appear in more episodes than some of the longer-lasting queens.
4. This season, the fashion ball challenge was themed around which of these?

Answer: Balls

This season, the ball came early forcing its queens to pull together three looks for the runway, the last of which needed to be made from scratch to fulfill the requirements. For their first look, the queens needed a Lady Baller outfit. For their second, they went with Basketball Wife Realness as a theme. For the final, which they had to construct out of provided materials, they had to lean into a high fashion Balls to the Wall Eleganza look.

The win went to the fashion-forward Gigi Goode while Rock M. Sakura was sent packing.
5. In a scripted acting challenge, the queens performed in a parody of what TV drama?

Answer: Grey's Anatomy

Instead of "Grey's Anatomy", the queens had to take roles in a mock TV medical drama by the name of "Gay's Anatomy" playing either doctors or patients. In a random chance, Gigi Goode and Nicky Doll had the opportunity to choose the roles for each queen.

Despite this, Nicky Doll ended up placing in the bottom two because she flopped in her attempt to take on a role counter to what the judges thought she could provide.
6. Which celebrity was the focus of this season's RuSical performance (in Week 7)?

Answer: Madonna

In the seventh episode, the remaining queens were thrown into this season's RuSical in which they needed to record vocals and learn dance moves to mimic Madonna on the main stage. Each queen was assigned a different style characterized by Madonna over her long-running career. Ultimately, the show was a success for all queens though Brita and Heidi N Closet needed to lipsynch for their lives to a Madonna song. Brita went home as a result.
7. In episode eight, the queens had to create products under what five-letter fictional product line?

Answer: Droop

One facet of making a well-rounded queen, as seen in earlier seasons, is marketability and branding. In this week, the queens had to invent their own product for a fictional line named 'Droop' (a la Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop) and develop a commercial to sell the item and themselves.

The challenge was ultimately won by Heidi N Closet while Widow Von'Du and Jan drooped to the bottom of the pack for their unfocused presentations. After a lipsync for their lives to a Chaka Khan track (in front of the legend herself), Jan was sent packing.
8. After the makeover challenge, which two queens were saved in a double-chante during their lipsyncs?

Answer: Heidi N Closet and Jackie Cox

Week ten of the competition gave the final six queens the chance to prove themselves in a makeover challenge, and this year they surprised female superfans with the opportunity to hit the mainstage as 'drag daughters' (and the chance to lipsync). Heidi N Closet and Jackie Cox went to the bottom of the pack but the two of them were told to stay after the lipsync, leading to another challenge for six in the following week.

This second challenge-- creating a one-woman show-- led Heidi to her fourth non-consecutive week in the bottom two and she was sent home in sixth place.
9. This season, instead of a music video for their final challenge, the final five performed in which of these?

Answer: RuSical

To promote the brand new "Rupaul's Drag Race Live!" stage show in Las Vegas, the final five contestants did not perform a complex music video this season, instead taking to the main stage to perform three songs from the show, the last of which featured original rap lyrics from each of the remaining queens.

The episode ultimately sent four on to the finale (though Sherry Pie would later be disqualified) and Jackie Cox was sent home.
10. Which queen was crowned the winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race" Season 12?

Answer: Jaida Essence Hall

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while the show was original filmed in mid-2019, the queens were unable to reunite for a live finale (or reunion show) in mid-2020 at the end of the airing of this season. As a result, the final show needed to be tweaked and created completely online. For this, Ru had all three girls perform a close-up lipsync to her new single, "Bring Back My Girls", and then they had the chance to create their own personal lipsync, by any means, to the song of their choice (Crystal chose Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like a Bird", Gigi chose "Take On Me" by A-Ha, and Jaida chose "Get Up" by Ciara).

It led to a final three-way lipsync to Destiny's Child's "Survivor" after which Ru crowned Jaida Essence Hall this season's winner, granting her the $100,000 prize.
