"ST: DS9" - "You Are Cordially Invited" Quiz

This is one of my favorite episodes, featuring the long awaited wedding of Worf and Jadzia Dax. From season six, it takes place after the Federation retakes the station from the Dominion.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why did Worf and Jadzia decide to get married immediately on the staion instead of waiting for the war to end and marry on Qo'nos?

Answer: So Alexander would not miss his father's wedding.

After hearing that Alexander was being transferred to a new ship, Jadzia convinced Worf to move up the wedding, so Alexander would for sure be there. It turned out to be a good thing. If they had waited until the war ended, the wedding would have never happened, because Jadzia died at the end of season 6.
2. Who did Worf ask to be his sword-bearer?

Answer: Alexander

A Tai-wee-Hon (sword-bearer) is kind of like a best man. Worf asked his son to perform this duty during the wedding.
3. What is the name of Martok's wife?

Answer: Sirella

Sirella, Mistress of the House of Martok, not only determined whether Jadzia was worthy to marry into her house, but also performed the marriage ceremony.
4. What are Var'hama candles used for?

Answer: welcome table

Worf asked if Jadzia used real Var'hama candles, which of course she didn't, because to make them, you must hunt targs on Qo'nos, boil them for days to get tallow and mold them with your hands. Sirella could tell they were fakes.
5. Who joins Worf on the Path to Kal'Hyah?

Answer: Martok, Captain Sisko, Alexander, Chief O'Brien, Dr. Bashir

The six steps to Kal'Hyah are deprivation, blood, pain, sacrifice, anguish and death. Not only did they fast for four days, but they got their hands sliced to offer blood and were hung over burning coals, feet just inches from being burned.
6. Including Jadzia's marriage to Worf, how many times has Dax been married?

Answer: 6

Dax had already been married three times as a woman and twice as a man in the Trill fashion. So for her wedding, Jadzia acquiesced to Worf's desire for a traditional Klingon wedding with all of the trimmings.
7. Who "sells a book" in this episode?

Answer: Jake

We find out Jake is having a book of short stories published about living on the station under Dominion control.
8. Who gets into a fight at Jadzia's pre-wedding party (besides Jadzia and Martok's wife)?

Answer: Morn and one of the Bolians

Odo came in to see about the disturbance, but apparently the two had made up. Odo and Kira ended up talking all night in Jadzia's closet.
9. What color are the wedding clothes of Worf and Jadzia?

Answer: red

In the Klingon wedding ceremony, a story is told about the forging of the Klingon hearts, thus the red clothing. Also, drums keep beating to simulate the hearts. It is a very moving ceremony. Both bride and groom wear red with gold crowns and have a mock fight with Bat'leths.
10. What traditionally happens at the end of the ceremony?

Answer: The bride and groom are attacked.

The bride and groom are symbolically attacked at the end of the ceremony in remembrance of Kahless and Lukara, who were attacked moments after being married. In the case of Worf and Jadzia, Dr. Bashir and Chief O'Brien attacked in revenge for what they suffered on the Path to Kal'Hyah.
