Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Female Changeling takes on the form of Kira trapped inside an impenetrable, growing crystal in this episode.

Answer: Heart Of Stone

Perhaps the giveaway on this one is the mention of the impenetrable, growing crystal. A very memorable episode, as Odo confesses his love for Kira for the very first time...or so he thought at first. As the crystal that has encased whom he thinks is DS9's Bajoran liaison continues to get bigger and bigger, a stressed Odo begins pouring out his emotions.

But then, he begins to realize that 'Kira' is telling him things that do not quite add up, becoming increasingly suspicious until ultimately, with phaser in hand, Odo confronts the person and demands to know his or her true identity.

The false 'Kira' trapped inside the crystal then suddenly transforms into the familiar liquid blob before finally taking on the form of the Female Changeling, the alien Founder revealing to the station's resident shape-shifter that the whole scenario of 'Kira dying' was a test to see if his loyalties were for his own people or for his new-found humanoid friends and colleagues.
2. Jadzia Dax is onboard a Dominion ship when she is injured by an exploding console due to enemy weapons fire, which results in her having to be bed-ridden inside a cave while her comrades battle Jem Ha'dar soldiers.

Answer: Rocks And Shoals

In this second episode of the six-episode arc that opened up the show's sixth season, Dax, along with Captain Sisko, Garak, Nog, Dr. Bashir, Chief O'Brien and the rest of her Starfleet comrades, are still commandeering the Dominion ship acquired in the season's premiere.

But when the ship sustains heavy damage due to enemy weapons fire, the console at the station where Dax is posted explodes, causing her serious injury. Meanwhile, the commandeered Dominion ship has crash-landed in the ocean of a nearby (and very convenient) M-class planet, as shown by Sisko and his crewmates physically pulling salvage from the wreckage out of the water. We later see everyone having taken refuge inside a large cave, with Dax laying down and too injured to move and having to be tended to by DS9's chief medical officer while Sisko negotiates with the Jem Ha'dar and their 'dying' Vorta leader, who have also taken up residence on the planet.
3. Jake is inside a cavern, arming himself with a hand-held projectile weapon that he fires blindly into the cavern's ceiling instead of targeting his alien attackers, all while a group of Starfleet patients and medical personnel he was assisting are frantically scurrying to safety.

Answer: Nor The Battle To The Strong

When the Klingon troops infiltrate the makeshift infirmary inside of the cavern near the end of the episode, it's determined that evacuation into another area is the only solution. Unfortunately, Jake a few other colleagues are unable to escape before the Klingons start firing.

After a couple of colleagues are shot down by Klingon disruptors, Jake takes refuge behind a short wall. He then spots a dropped hand-held disruptor nearby, which he quickly grabs and begins firing blasts over his head.

Although he fails to shoot any of his attackers, the blasts cause the cavern ceiling to begin caving in, which is discovered later to have been instrumental in sealing the cavern's exit and preventing further bloodshed at the hands of the blood-thirsty alien mercenaries.
4. Kira finds herself on board a Cardassian cargo ship commandeered by Cardassian comrades, but when she and those comrades later transport onto a Klingon bird-of-prey, the cargo ship, along with the Klingons that are transported onto it, are destroyed while the bird-of-prey remains intact and becomes an historic trophy for the Cardassian people.

Answer: Return To Grace

When it's discovered that a Klingon bird-of-prey attacked an outpost where a conference between Bajoran and Cardassian delegates was scheduled to take place, Kira and her off-an-on nemesis, Gul Dukat, do the incomprehensible by teaming up to take down their mutual enemy.

In a combat situation later in the episode, a strategic move on Kira's part sees DS9's Bajoran liaison and her Cardassian comrades transporting onto the Klingon bird-of-prey while the Klingons are simultaneously trasported onto the heavily-damaged Cardassian freighter.

The Klingons are killed in the resulting explosion while the bird-of-prey's new passengers are victorious, Dukat proudly proclaiming his acquisition of the enemy ship--the first time that is has ever happened in Cardassian history--to be a monumental moment for his people.
5. Dr. Bashir is on the holosuite, dressed in a tuxedo and riding in the back car with a beautiful blonde woman when Odo suddenly appears, knocking on the car window and requesting to enter inside before Chief O'Brien, equipped with a 20th-century handgun, appears at the opposite window.

Answer: A Simple Investigation

The two side stories in this episode of Bashir wanting to try out his new holosuite program and Odo finding himself falling in love collide when about halfway through, the shape-shifting chief of security seeks the station's chief medical officer for romantic advice. We see Bashir in the back seat of a car with a beautiful blonde lady when Odo knocks on the window and requests a to speak to him.

When the blonde gets out, Odo gets in and states his case, unsure how to go about relaying his feelings for the mysterious woman being pursued by the two alien mercenaries for the data crystal. Before their conversation ends, however, O'Brien, clad as the 'bad guy' character in the program, emerges at the opposite window with a pistol pointed directly at his tuxedo-wearing friend.

Unfortunately, we never get to see how the rest of Bashir's holosuite fantasy plays out.
6. Quark attempts to ignite romance with a Vulcan woman visiting him at his bar, despite the woman's business proposition of wanting to acquire weapons in exchange for latinum.

Answer: The Maquis, Part 1

Perhaps the giveaway with this question is a Vulcan proposing to achieve weapons. That in itself is something unusual for a member of the most disciplined and logical alien races in the entire "Star Trek" universe. But it really did happen in the first portion of this two-part episode: a Vulcan woman approaching Quark about acquiring disruptors, photons and troops in exchange for latinum.

The always profit-hungry resident Ferengi, of course, greedily agrees to negotiate without knowing the woman's true intentions, and even goes as far as to put the romantic moves on her and inviting her to an intimate, private dinner. Though unknown to Quark, the Vulcan is actually working alongside a special group of Federation renegades who are determined to eradicate their common enemy, the Cardassians.
7. Morn is sitting at Quark's bar when he is punched and knocked out of his chair by a Starfleet officer, but neither Odo nor anybody on Odo's security detail responds to the incident, and no charges are ever brought against the Starfleet officer doing the unprovoked assault in question.

Answer: Looking For Par'Mach In All The Wrong Places

In a futile attempt to win the love and affection of Quark's Klingon ex-wife, the Enterprise's former chief of security enters the bar and approaches Morn, who is busy trying to get every last drop of whatever intoxicating concoction was in his glass.

After a brief apology, Worf punches Morn square in the face, knocking the alien out of his chair and onto the floor, all of it in plain sight of Quark's ex-wife and her Klingon companions. Of course, it just so happens that neither Odo nor any of his security detail are anywhere to be seen when this incident goes down; after all, nothing of lasting consequence can happen to a major character on the show. If Worf had been arrested and reprimanded, like any other regular person would have for assaulting somebody on board the station, then we wouldn't have had any further progression of the plot for this episode, now would we?
8. Dr. Bashir is on an alien moon, working to restore the computer inside of a damaged Federation runabout that had been ferrying a Bajoran dignitary who had never seen nor been through the wormhole.

Answer: Battle Lines

Near the beginning of the episode, the revered Kai Opaka pays her first visit to DS9, requesting that Commander Sisko take her to see the wormhole, which she had never seen before. We later see Sisko and the Kai onboard a runabout, along with Kira and Dr. Bashir, entering through the intergalactic portal.

The wondrous moment for the Bajoran leader ends abruptly when the runabout is shot down by an alien satellite, causing the runabout to crash land on the surface of an alien moon. Later, Dr. Bashir returns to the wrecked runabout in an attempt to restore power to the main computer; Julian believes he can program a way for the microbes to resurrect the dead after Kai Opaka is discovered to have miraculously survived.
9. Chief O'Brien is down on a planet, wearing a decorative robe over his uniform while he struggles to deliver a speech before a crowd of people, all while a mysterious entity is forming above him in the planet's atmosphere.

Answer: The Storyteller

In this early episode of the series, O'Brien and Bashir have been sent to Bajor in order to tend to a sick, elderly man who has served as 'the storyteller', the man having traditionally delivered majestic speeches that have rendered the locals protection from a mysterious creature forming in the clouds and attacking with destructive force on a nightly basis.

When O'Brien is declared to be the new holder of the title--albeit temporarily, until the true leader emerges later to regain his title--he is adorned in a robe of royalty and stands atop the cliff, stumbling over his improvised words as the 'cloud creature' materializes in the sky.

Unfortunately, O'Brien's speech has zero effect, but before he and everyone else is blasted into smithereens by the creature's attacks, the true leader steps in to deliver a more genuine and moving speech, saving the day in the process.
10. General Martok makes an appearance on board the station in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Sons And Daughters

A fairly tricky one to close out this quiz! "Sons And Daughters" concentrated heavily on Alexander's trial in becoming a true Klingon warrior at the tutelage and guidance of Worf. As such, the action almost exclusively took place on board the Klingon ship Rotarran; the only scenes we saw on board DS9 involved Kira, Gul Dukat, Ziyal, Jake and Quark.

In "By Inferno's Light", we do see Martok back on board the station after having spent the first half of the two-part adventure, "In Purgatory's Shadow", imprisoned on the Dominion moon along with Worf, Garak and Dr. Bashir. Martok is speaking with both Gowron and Captain Sisko, the three gentlemen agreeing to a new peace treaty between the Federation and the Klingons.

In "You Are Cordially Invited", Martok is on board the station again, taking part in various Klingon male-bonding rituals with Captain Sisko, Dr. Bashir, Chief O'Brien and Alexander in preparation for the big wedding ceremony between Worf and Jadzia Dax.

Then in "Strange Bedfellows", Martok again is on board the station, speaking with Sisko in the captain's office regarding the recent marriage to Kasidy Yates.
