Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Suds", SpongeBob catches a cold, which he calls the "suds", after he leaves his fridge door open all night. With that term in mind, can you work out what happens to SpongeBob every time he sneezes?

Answer: Bubbles escape his pores.

SpongeBob allows Patrick to help him instead of going to the hospital, since Patrick convinces him to avoid the "scary" waiting room! Patrick impersonates a doctor in order to cure SpongeBob of the suds, but his poor treatment of SpongeBob ends up destroying the Krusty Krab restaurant! In the end, Sandy arrives to take SpongeBob to the hospital, and he is cured. Patrick, however, receives a very different treatment there after they find out he's impersonated a doctor!
2. In "Valentine's Day", SpongeBob has arranged, with the help of Sandy, a really amazing gift for Patrick, but it seems like the plan is doomed from the very start! Does Patrick ever receive the gift during the course of the episode?

Answer: Yes

Patrick's gift is a giant chocolate-filled balloon, and scallops who take a fancy to it veer Sandy way off course, leaving SpongeBob to cope at the carnival with a very excited Patrick. SpongeBob ends up having to let Patrick down, giving him only a handshake in the absence of a back-up plan, and when Patrick sees the amazing gifts SpongeBob has given to everyone else for Valentine's Day, he gets very angry and holds everyone hostage at the carnival! But luckily, Sandy arrives just in time with the balloon, and all is forgiven!
3. In "The Paper", Squidward becomes very jealous of SpongeBob's new fascination, which is what type of paper?

Answer: Gum wrapper

The paper was thrown away by Squidward, but SpongeBob, being the caring neighbor he is (!), tries to get Squidward to take it back. Squidward makes SpongeBob swear never to give him the paper back, even if he begs and cries! Squidward is angry, amazed and finally jealous of all the fun SpongeBob has with the paper, until he just has to have it, whatever the cost! SpongeBob, however, takes his promise seriously, and doesn't give the paper back, until the temptation of everything Squidward owns, including the shirt off his back and his house, causes him to hand the paper back to Squidward, who cannot 'activate' the fun of the paper and thus owns nothing at all, not even the paper that Patrick ends up taking for his gum!
4. In, "Arrgh!", Mr. Krabs becomes obsessed with a treasure hunt game that he, SpongeBob, and Patrick play at the Krusty Krab one quiet night. The three end up on a real treasure hunt using the game's map, but SpongeBob and Patrick think Mr. Krabs is crazy for believing the map will lead to treasure. Does the map lead to a real treasure in the end?

Answer: Yes

The game is based on the Flying Dutchman's treasure, which the crew uncover just as things are seeming hopeless. Mr. Krabs is about to punish the boys for not believing in him when he notices they are cowering right over the X that marks the treasure! Mr. Krabs is so afraid of the Flying Dutchman that he renounces any responsibility for digging up the treasure, leading SpongeBob and Patrick to receive a reward, while he gets nothing but a plastic replica of the treasure chest!
5. "Rock Bottom" is the town SpongeBob gets stuck in after he takes the wrong bus, in the episode of the same name. He can't seem to catch the bus back home to Bikini Bottom, and weird interactions with the locals aren't helping! How are the accents of the locals conveyed?

Answer: They blow raspberries after each syllable.

Both SpongeBob and Patrick end up in Rock Bottom, but Patrick is lucky enough to catch a bus out, which SpongeBob frantically chases but frustratingly misses. A local who doesn't speak at all expresses interest in SpongeBob's Glove World balloon, which SpongeBob lets him have out of irritation. No matter what SpongeBob does, the bus never seems to arrive until he is away from the bus stop! Eventually, he talks to the ticket master at the bus station, but as he has trouble with SpongeBob's accent (his being of the blowing raspberries kind!), SpongeBob ends up missing the very last bus home to Bikini Bottom! The local with the balloon returns and helps SpongeBob unleash the potential of the balloon, by blowing it up so much that it lifts SpongeBob out of Rock Bottom and back to Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob spends a long time talking to this man using their accent, but it transpires that he doesn't speak with it!
6. The next episode is the name of the state SpongeBob's friend Sandy comes from. Sandy becomes homesick, but just as she is beginning her journey home, she overhears SpongeBob and Patrick making fun of her home state! Everyone rallies round to make Sandy feel included to stop her leaving, and she realizes that Bikini Bottom has been home after all. What is the name of the state that Patrick calls "dumb"?

Answer: Texas

Hearing Patrick mock her home state angers Sandy, and she chases both SpongeBob and Patrick ready to beat them up for what they said! SpongeBob realizes that if he can manage to run as far as the Krusty Krab without Sandy catching him, she'll see the surprise that SpongeBob has set up with the help of his friends - they have lovingly, but inaccurately, recreated some of Sandy's favorite foods and pastimes from Texas. SpongeBob almost doesn't make it to the restaurant, but when Sandy sees the effort her friends have gone to to stop her leaving, she realizes that home is where the heart is, and remains in Bikini Bottom.
7. In "Walking Small", Plankton uses SpongeBob to clear a certain location so that he can set up a new Chum Bucket restaurant. By teaching SpongeBob how to be "assertive", he succeeds in driving people away from which place in Bikini Bottom?

Answer: Goo Lagoon

Plankton's "assertiveness" lessons really teach SpongeBob how to be rude and unfair to the other visitors to the beach, with the result that no one wants to spend any more time there. As soon as everyone clears off, Plankton reveals his plans for the new restaurant, and SpongeBob immediately realizes that he's been set up! He decides to use his lessons to an advantage, being, as he calls it, "aggressively nice" and performs kind deeds, many of them repairing the damage he'd done earlier, and the locals rush back to the beach, trampling both Plankton and his plans!
8. The theme of the "Fools In April" episode is, you guessed it, April Fools Day. SpongeBob's harmless pranks aggravate Squidward so much that he decides to play a particularly elaborate trick on SpongeBob which sends the lovable sponge running home in floods of tears! Everyone is angry at Squidward for upsetting him, but the question is: Is SpongeBob's emotional outburst his own April Fools joke against Squidward?

Answer: Yes

Hearing everyone criticise Squidward's "prank", which involves a lot of physical damage to SpongeBob, Squidward begins to regret going so far, and turns up at SpongeBob's house begging for forgiveness, but the problem is: he just can't seem to bring himself to say sorry! When he finally manages, SpongeBob opens his front door fully to reveal many of their friends, laughing at Squidward for being fooled! Squidward in his embarrassment claims that his apology was another prank, but he runs away in shame.
9. "Neptune's Spatula" is stuck in grease, and a legendary myth tells that the one who is able to pull it out will be declared Neptune's frycook for eternity. SpongeBob achieves the feat, but the sea god does not consider him worthy of the task! The two battle it out to be the first to make one thousand patties. Why does SpongeBob's one patty win against Neptune's one thousand?

Answer: Neptune's patties taste awful.

Neptune manages to produce patties at a speedy rate, using his magic and sea creatures to help him, favoring quantity over quality, while SpongeBob puts loving care into the one patty he makes. The audience are thrilled when Neptune gives them his patties for free, but immediately spit them out as they taste disgusting! When Neptune tastes SpongeBob's patty, he declares him the winner.

But SpongeBob refuses his demand to become his frycook in Atlantis because he won't allow Patrick to come. Instead they reach a compromise and Neptune is taught how to make Krabby Patties.
10. In "Hooky", Patrick and SpongeBob are thrilled to find that the carnival's in town, and Patrick encourages SpongeBob to 'play hooky' from work to spend more time at the carnival. But the carnival is really fishing hooks from above the water, and they are dangerous! Whose warnings does SpongeBob ignore, leading to his being "hooked"?

Answer: Mr. Krabs

Patrick is completely oblivious to the dangers of the hooks, as when he rides them, he jumps off before they can reach the surface. But SpongeBob ends up with a hook in his pants, and panics when Mr. Krabs tells him that he will be turned into food for the humans! The only way out is to take off his pants, and underpants, which SpongeBob is too bashful to do in front of Pearl and her friends, which leads to him almost being pulled up to the surface.

He eventually surrenders his clothes, in embarrassment, and it is revealed, though not to SpongeBob, that the hook that caught SpongeBob was a set-up by Squidward and Mr. Krabs to teach him a lesson!
