Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which creatures were NOT in "Bloodlines"?

Answer: Demons

In addition to werewolves, shapeshifters and ghouls, the episode also had djinn. "Bloodlines" was episode 20 for "Supernatural" season 9, and a backdoor pilot for a "Supernatural" spinoff. However, the pilot was not picked up by the CW for the 2014-2015 season.
2. During "Bloodlines", Dean told David, "You're with me, Romeo." David replied, "Sounds good, ______." Fill in the blank.

Answer: Buffy

Dean's reference to "Romeo" was from the William Shakespeare play, "Romeo and Juliet", since David and Violet were star-crossed lovers, like the characters in the play. David called Dean "Buffy", a reference to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," a television show in which the lead character hunted vampires. Since Dean and Sam had revealed themselves to be monster hunters, the reference was amusing and on point.

The character of David Lassiter had an attitude similar to the joking, smart aleck attitude of Dean Winchester, and also seemed to make pop culture references like Dean.
3. In "King of the Damned," Castiel's followers addressed him as "______". Fill in the blank.

Answer: Commander

Castiel asked Sam and Dean to help him interrogate an angel. When they arrived at the address Castiel gave them, they discovered that his followers addressed him as "Commander." Dean agreed to interrogate/torture the angel, but after initially threatening the angel, he then followed Sam's lead and tricked the angel into revealing what little he knew about Metatron.
4. After discovering his demons had betrayed him to Abaddon, Crowley told them, "No one in the history of ______'s been ______ed like the ______ you'll be ______ed with." What single word was used in each blank?

Answer: torture

This rant was classic Crowley. Abaddon was also very funny, telling the other demons to "relax" since they had "done the new Queen a solid" and would be "sitting at the popular kids table."
5. Crowley was reunited with his son in "King of the Damned". What was his son's name?

Answer: Gavin

Abaddon retrieved Gavin from the past and brought him to the present day so she could use him as leverage with Crowley. Crowley's son was not particularly bright, but was thrilled to hear Crowley was a "King," making him a "Prince." Dean and Sam both told Crowley that Gavin needed to go back to his own time, or the "ripple effect" would cause problems, but Crowley instead allowed his son to remain in the present time, risking the dangers of the changed past changing the present and future.
6. During "King of the Damned", while talking to Dean on the phone, Crowley used a code word to let Dean know he would be walking into a trap with Abaddon when he came to meet Crowley. What was the code word?

Answer: Poughkeepsie

Dean told Crowley the code word during "Road Trip", when he had Crowley possess Sam to tell him that Gadreel was possessing him. "Poughkeepsie" was the go word for the Winchesters, meaning drop everything and run. Crowley used it in "King of the Damned" to warn the Winchesters. Dean did not tell his brother, though, instead sending him on a wild goose chase to get him out of harm's way, while he took on Abaddon himself.
7. In "King of the Damned", Crowley finally killed Abaddon.

Answer: False

Dean killed Abaddon, not Crowley. Dean killed the Knight of Hell using the First Blade. Even after killing her, he continued to stab her with the blade, eventually hearing Sam tell him to stop. This was the latest step of Dean's descent into darkness since taking on the Mark of Cain in "First Born".
8. In "Stairway to Heaven", what were Sam and Dean's aliases?

Answer: Spears and Aguilera

When the brothers arrived at the crime scene, they discovered that Castiel had named them "Spears and Aguilera," after Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. The angel explained that he had noticed that the brothers often use the "names of popular musicians" for their aliases. Dean responded, "Wow," which pretty much said it all.

While Castiel now understood pop culture references (since Metatron gave him knowledge of books, movies and television shows during "Meta Fiction"), he clearly still missed important nuances, like the fact that the brothers used classic rock artists, and not young pop singers.
9. In "Stairway to Heaven", Metatron complained that angels were choosing Castiel over him. He told Gadreel that he was lovable and funny, while Castiel was "like a _______." Fill in the blank.

Answer: mentally-deficient puppy

"Stairway to Heaven" revealed how jealous Metatron was of Castiel. After Metatron complained to Gadreel about Castiel, Gadreel reminded Metatron that it was Metatron that wanted Castiel to lead an army against him. Metatron responded that he "didn't think he'd be good at it." This was one more instance where the bad guy in the series underestimated the Winchesters and Castiel.
10. Who committed suicide, using the First Blade, during "Stairway to Heaven"?

Answer: Tessa

Tessa the reaper was disillusioned and depressed by the Fall, and was one of several angels (in her case, an angel of death) that was convinced to take on suicide missions. When Dean was questioning her, he had the First Blade, and she used the opportunity to impale herself on the blade and kill herself. Castiel's angel followers did not believe Dean, and demanded Castiel kill Dean. Castiel refused, and that combined with Metatron telling them about Castiel's stolen grace, caused his army to abandon him.
11. When Sam and Castiel found a burned Josiah in the false heaven Metatron led them to, Sam said Josiah had been "______" what?

Answer: Home alone'd

Josiah had been caught by a booby trap Metatron left for Castiel. It was set up over a door, reminiscent of the booby traps that the character Kevin set to catch the criminals trying to break into his house in the movie "Home Alone".
12. After Dean tried to kill Gadreel in "Do You Believe in Miracles?" Sam and Castiel locked him in the bunker's dungeon. How did Dean escape?

Answer: Crowley broke him out

Dean summoned Crowley, who let him out so he could take the First Blade and go after Metatron. Dean was sick, spitting up blood, and Crowley explained that if he did not kill he would get sicker, because of the Mark of Cain. Dean being let out of the dungeon was a parallel to the scene in "When the Levee a Breaks" in season 4, when Dean and Bobby locked Sam in the panic room, and Castiel let him out.

The whole plot also paralleled season 4, when the demon Ruby led Sam down a path when he was addicted to demon blood.

In season 9, the Mark of Cain and First blade affected Dean like an addiction, and Crowley was the demon leading him along.
13. In "Do You Believe in Miracles?" when Dean asked Crowley about Hell, Crowley said it was "complicated." Dean replied, "_______ is complicated, and shower sex, that's complicated. Your problem ain't Hell - it's you." What did Dean say was complicated?

Answer: Game of Thrones

This was one of several references to the HBO series "Game of Thrones" in season 9 of "Supernatural". In "Dog Dean Afternoon", the taxidermist that was killed was dressing the stuffed animals like "Game of Thrones" characters and in "Slumber Party", Sam, Dean and Charlie watched the show in Sam's room.
14. Which character died in "Do You Believe in Miracles?"

Answer: Gadreel

After Gadreel and Castiel were locked in Heaven's jail, Gadreel turned himself into a suicide bomber, redeeming himself and helping Castiel to escape so he could find the angel tablet, the source of Metatron's power. At the end of the episode, the other three characters were alive, although Metatron was locked in Heaven's jail.
15. At the end of season 9, what happened to Dean?

Answer: He died, and then became a demon

Metatron killed Dean with an angel blade in "Do You Believe in Miracles?" While Sam tried to summon Crowley, in an attempt to bring his brother back to life, Crowley placed the First Blade in Dean's lifeless hand, and ordered him to open his eyes. Dean, wearing the Mark of Cain and holding the First Blade, opened his eyes - and they were black, demon eyes.
