Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the season's premiere episode entitled "Young at Heart", a total of 20 contestants were introduced by the host Jeff Probst. These 20 people were then divided equally into two tribes, La Flor (Spanish for flower) and Espada (Spanish for sword), based on what criterion?

Answer: Age

In the Espada (older) tribe, the contestants were Dan, Holly, Jane, Jill, Jimmy J., Jimmy T., Marty, Tyrone, Wendy and Yve. The members for the La Flor tribe were Alina, Benry, Brenda, Chase, Jud (Fabio), Kelly B., Kelly S., NaOnka, Sash and Shannon.

Espada lost the first immunity challenge and Wendy became the first person to be voted out of the twenty-first season of "Survivor".
2. In the second episode entitled "Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All", an argument broke out at the Espada tribe when Dan called Holly crazy for throwing away the snails, which according to Jill, were edible. Overwhelmed by her emotion, what did Holly steal from Dan and later dump into the ocean?

Answer: Shoes

According to Dan, the pair of alligator-skin shoes cost a whopping $1600. Holly later apologized to Dan.

Espada used the Medallion of Power, which gave them an advantage, in the reward/immunity challenge and they won the competition. At Tribal Council, La Flor voted off Shannon.
3. In the third episode entitled "Glitter in Their Eyes", La Flor won the reward/immunity challenge and they were given fruits and spices. As the tribes made their way to their campsite, NaOnka and Kelly B. noticed that there was a note (clue to the location of the hidden Immunity Idol) in the fruit basket. In the end, who got the note?

Answer: NaOnka

NaOnka showed no sympathy to the handicapped Kelly B. when she pushed Kelly B. aside and grabbed the note from the fruit basket. When she realized she could not figure out the exact location of the hidden Immunity Idol, she shared the clue with Brenda.

At Tribal Council, Jimmy J. admitted that he was the weakest link in his tribe because he was the oldest person in Espada. Jimmy J. voted for Dan but all the other members agreed that Jimmy J. should be the one to be eliminated. It came as no surprise that Jimmy J. became the third person to be voted out.
4. In the fourth episode entitled "Pulling the Trigger", the reward/immunity challenge featured a game where a chosen leader would give instruction to his or her blindfolded tribemates to collect various items scattered around a field. Did La Flor use the Medallion of Power and did they win the challenge?

Answer: Yes, yes

Prior to the challenge, Espada received a treemail message and they practiced hard for the upcoming task. Nonetheless, they lost the challenge miserably to the younger La Flor tribe, who used the Medallion of Power. They started the challenge by having two items already placed on the mat.

In this episode, Brenda helped NaOnka find the hidden Immunity Idol. Jimmy T. was voted out by his tribemates during the Tribal Council.
5. In the fifth episode entitled "Turf Wars", a tribal switch took place. Although the newly formed Espada tribe won the reward challenge, they lost the immunity challenge to the La Flor tribe. Who had a massive emotional break down and even considered quitting the game during a thunderstorm?

Answer: NaOnka

NaOnka said she did not like the rain and she was feeling extremely uncomfortable with the cold weather. Alina and Chase comforted NaOnka.

The younger people who joined the Espada tribe were not happy with the way Tyrone treated them. He gave out instructions and the 'do's and dont's' at the Espada campsite. Tyrone was also the only one in the Espada tribe who disagreed with cooking the chicken that they won from the reward challenge. At Tribal Council, NaOnka received two votes while Tyrone received six.
6. In the sixth episode entitled "Worst Case Scenario", an interesting twist was announced by Jeff - each tribe would be going to the Tribal Council. Yve was voted out by Espada. Which member of the La Flor tribe had the hidden Immunity Idol, but decided not to play it during the Tribal Council?

Answer: Marty

In this episode, instead of the usual group immunity challenge, the contestants played for individual immunity, which was won by Jill (La Flor) and Holly (Espada).

In the first round of La Flor's voting, Marty and Kelly B. each received three votes, while the remaining two votes went to Brenda. This tie was actually La Flor's plan in an attempt to force Marty to use his Immunity Idol. The tie led to another round of voting, where Kelly B. was blindsided - she received five votes compared to Marty's one vote.
7. In the seventh episode entitled "What Goes Around, Comes Around", the La Flor tribe lost the immunity challenge. Knowing that he was in trouble and could be voted out of the game at Tribal Council, Marty made a deal with a member of the La Flor tribe. Who did he give his Hidden Immunity Idol to?

Answer: Sash

La Flor split the votes between Marty and Jill. Jill was eventually voted out by La Flor. Sash kept his promise by not writing down Marty's name at Tribal Council.
8. In the eighth episode entitled "Company Will Be Arriving Soon", the La Flor members moved to the Espada campsite when the two tribes merged. Marty suggested a new name for the newly merged tribe, Libertad. According to him, what does this word mean in Spanish?

Answer: Free

In this episode, NaOnka stole food from her tribemates and shared it with Alina. At Tribal Council, only Jane and Alina voted for Marty. The remaining ten people voted for Alina. Alina became the ninth person to be voted out of the game. She also became the first member of the jury.
9. In the ninth episode entitled "Running the Camp", Marty tried to convince everyone to vote for Jane. According to Brenda, the people who were running the camp at the moment were her and Sash. At Tribal Council, whose rant left Jeff speechless?

Answer: NaOnka

Marty's plan was to flush NaOnka's hidden Immunity Idol, and at the same time, blindside Jane. At the Tribal Council, NaOnka's words left Jeff speechless. She even gave Marty the finger. She did not play her Immunity Idol and in the end, Marty became the tenth person to be voted out of the game.
10. In the tenth episode entitled "Stuck in the Middle", Holly identified Brenda as the mastermind in the camp, thus the biggest threat in the tribe. She tried to convince everyone to vote Brenda out of the game. Meanwhile, Sash was stuck in the middle - he could either give his Immunity Idol to Brenda, or he could follow the majority. What happened to Brenda during the Tribal Council?

Answer: She did not receive any hidden Immunity Idols and she was voted off.

At Tribal Council, Sash kept the Immunity Idol for himself and did not give it to Brenda. In the end, Brenda received eight votes and she was voted out of the game. Even Sash and Chase voted for her. There were two Immunity Idols that had not yet been played. Sash had one of them while NaOnka had the other one.
