Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Garfield and Friends

Answer: Nermal

Nermal is a small gray tabby who made his first appearance on the "Garfield and Friends" show (1988-1994) on season one, episode two, "School Daze", on September 24, 1988. Jon Arbuckle, Garfield's owner, once called Nermal "the world's cutest kitten". This did not sit well with Garfield whose jealousy motivated him to dislike Nermal, and often try to mail him to Abu Dhabi.
2. Rocko's Modern Life

Answer: Dr. Paula Huchison

Dr. Paula Hutchison is a cat who is one of the characters on the animated TV show "Rocko's Modern Life" (1993-1996). She started out as a dentist but "got tired of looking down in the mouth" so she has also tried being a surgeon, vet, obstetrician, etc. Paula is a very friendly, upbeat feline, with a hook for a hand (or paw).

She married one of Rocko's best friends, Filbert Turtle, and they have four children: Shelbert, Gilbert, Norbert and Missy.
3. Saturday Night Live

Answer: Toonces

Toonces, "the driving cat", could be found on the late-night sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live". Toonces first appeared with his 'owners', Steve Martin and Victoria Jackson, on episode 20 of season 14 in May 1989. Toonces has made several appearances since that time, always driving a car...and always driving it poorly.
4. Sabrina, the Teenage Witch

Answer: Salem

Salem was Sabrina's wise-cracking cat on "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" which aired from 1996 to 2003. Salem Saberhagen was voiced by actor Nick Bakay on both that show and the later series "Sabrina: The Animated Series" (1999-2001). Salem lives with the Spellmans and is presented as a very ambitious cat, looking for fame, riches and world domination.

His backstory (one of them) had him as a witch originally, who was sentenced by the Witches' Counsel to spend 100 years as a cat without any powers.

This punishment was due to various previous infractions, e.g., kissing a mortal and/or trying to take over the world.
5. Glee

Answer: Lord Tubbington

Lord Tubbington is the overweight 25 pound cat who belongs to Brittany Pierce on "Glee" (2009-2015). The cat has made a number of appearances on the show. Lord Tubbington (or Charity) has also been a guest star on Brittany's internet gossip show "Fondue for Two". Brittany has accused him of being evil, reading her diary, and joining a gang. Among his other attributes: apparently, Lord Tubbington can read, knows how to use a computer and is a Scientologist.
6. Star Trek: The Next Generation

Answer: Spot

If you were ever a fan of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987-1994), you will remember how much the android Data wanted to be like humans. In an episode called "Data's Day", season four, episode 11, Data's cat makes her first appearance on January 5, 1991. Data named the cat Spot and even wrote a poem to this orange tabby called (appropriately) "Ode to Spot". Spot did not take to the other members of the crew, with the surprising exception of Reginald Barclay; nor did Spot take to Data's attempts to train her.

She did, however, give birth to a litter a little later.
7. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Answer: Miss Kitty Fantastico

Miss Kitty Fantastico (aka Trixie) is first mentioned on an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003) called "New Moon Rising". She is the pet kitten of Willow Rosenberg and Tara Maclay. Kitty is black with white back paws, a white stripe on her chest and a little spot of white around her nose. All of a sudden she disappears from the show and is not mentioned until near the end of the seventh season, when Dawn mentions a crossbow incident and we are left to surmise that Miss Kitty is gone.
8. ALF

Answer: Lucky

"ALF" (1986-1990) is an acronym for Alien Life Form. Alf is a wise-cracking, furry alien who comes from the planet Melmac. His spaceship has crashed into the suburban garage of Willie Tanner and his family. Now the Tanner's own a pet, i.e., Lucky the Cat, an American shorthair.

Unfortunately, Lucky's luck may be about to run out because we learn that cats are a 'culinary delicacy' on Melmac. Alf once tried to hypnotize Lucky into thinking he was a bagel (HA!). Sadly, Lucky passed away in season four and was replaced by Lucky II.
9. iCarly

Answer: Abigail the Kitten

Abigail the kitten is an orange tabby who appeared on "iCarly" (2007-2012) on an episode called "iScream on Halloween" which aired on October 20, 2007. The cat was owned by Mrs. Halberstadt and her middle-aged son. The kitten, like most kittens, was very energetic and frisky, running around, scratching furniture, etc. Now this was a Halloween episode so, of course, Sam, Carly and Freddie are frightened, thinking the noises are coming from a ghost, and that the apartment must be haunted.
10. The Simpsons

Answer: Snowball (I-V)

"The Simpsons", Matt Groening's creation, first aired on TV in 1989. The family has always had a penchant for pets, take for example Stampy, the full-grown elephant Bart won in a radio contest in the series' fifth season. Their dog is, of course, Santa's Little Helper who has been their pet throughout the series (despite the fact that he would now be somewhere around 30 in human years).

However, their cats have not been quite as lucky. Let's start with Snowball, a white cat who was run over when he was two years old. We never met him, just heard about him. Snowball II had black fur but was named after Snowball I; like his predecessor, II was killed by a car. Snowball III drowned in the fish tank; IV/Coltrane jumped out a window.

This brings us to V, also called Snowball II?!
