Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To which Indian city did teams travel in Leg 5?

Answer: Chennai

Teams departed from their Pit Stop in Halong Bay in the middle of the night, and they were instructed to go to Chennai, India. To do this, teams needed to take a train to Hanoi, then visit a travel agency for their tickets. Along the way, teams were split up arriving in different cities at different times for connecting flights. Peter and Sarah and Dustin and Kandice got the earliest flight, arriving at 7:20am, while four other teams got a flight at about 9:30am. David and Mary were not able to connect on this flight after taking the risk to fly to Delhi, so they took a flight set to arrive at 10:00am.
2. How many teams completed the 'Wild Rice' Detour task of Leg 5?

Answer: 2

In 'Wild Rice', teams were required to travel 200 yards to a nearby temple. Here, teams had to find a pattern painted on the ground an cover it with a fine powder made of rice to copy a design given to them. Once the design was completed properly, teams would receive their clue. Two teams completed this task during the race.
3. What pit did teams need to visit to wrangle a crocodile in the Wild Things' Detour of Leg 5?

Answer: 16

In 'Wild Things', teams needed to travel thirty miles to the Madras Crocodile Bank and find pit 16. Here, they needed to tie up and carry a crocodile to a new pit. Once this was done, teams could receive their clue. Peter and Sarah, Dustin and Kandice, Erwin and Godwin, Lyn and Karlyn, and Rob and Kimberly completed this Detour task.
4. Who did not complete the Road Block in Leg 5?

Answer: Mary

Following the Detour, teams needed to take a bus back to Chennai to find the Karthik Driving School. Here they could find the Road Block. In this task, one team member needed to complete an Indian Driving test (driving on the left side of the busy Indian roads) and pass.

After this, teams could receive their clue and drive to the pit stop. Peter, Dustin, Rob, Godwin, Lyn, Tyler, and David completed the Road Block in this leg.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 5?

Answer: David and Mary

Following the Road Block, teams needed to drive to the Chettinad House, the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. The first team to arrive, Peter and Sarah, won a home gym system. The last team to arrive at the Pit Stop, David and Mary, were not eliminated.

Instead, they were 'marked for elimination'. Unlike previous races, they kept their belongings and money, but they were forced to arrive at the Pit Stop in the proceeding leg in first or else they would get a thirty minute time penalty.
6. Which country did teams travel to in the sixth leg of the race?

Answer: Kuwait

In the beginning of Leg 6, teams were required to fly to Kuwait City. To do this, teams needed to purchase tickets at a travel agency in Chennai, then fly 2,400 miles to the country of Kuwait. The first clue was a video clue from Phil on a Nokia cell phone, so teams needed to figure out where they were going simply using a picture. Once teams drove to the Kuwait Towers, they'd receive their next clue.
7. Which team won the Fast Forward in Leg 6 of the race?

Answer: David and Mary

At the Kuwait Towers, teams took an elevator and took a number at the top for their clue. Here, teams obtained the Road Block and one of only two optional Fast Forwards. For the Fast Forward, the participating team needed to drive eighteen miles to an oil field.

Here, they needed to suit up and face a simulated oil well fire using flame resistant clothing and a heat shield to reach a clue box. David and Mary attempted the task and obtained the clue.
8. In the Road Block in Leg 6, teams needed to climb around the orb at the top of the Kuwait Towers. How high above the ground was the task performed?

Answer: 610

During the Road Block, teams needed to climb up and around the curved ladder around the orb of the Kuwait Tower. At the top, teams needed to obtain a satchel case containing puzzle pieces and return down the tower. At the bottom, teams needed to obtain more pieces from a trunk on the ground. Once teams completed the puzzle, they could obtain an address to their next location.

A business stall in the streets three miles away.
9. During the Detour of Leg 6, one task was 'Manual'. What was the name of the second task?

Answer: Automatic

In 'Manual', teams needed to drive to a local feedlock and fill ten 110 pound bags of camel feed to a certain line. Though the task was quite difficult and required muscle power, teams could go at their own pace. In 'Automatic', teams drove to the Kuwait Camel Racing Club. Using robotic jockeys, teams needed to race a camel 140 yards down a race track with voice activated and automatic controls to receive their clue. Three teams completed each task.
10. Which team was eliminated in Leg 6?

Answer: Peter and Sarah

David and Mary were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop, the Al-Sadiq Water Towers, because of the Fast Forward they acquired. The couple, who were marked for elimination in the previous race, had their possible thirty minute penalty removed because they placed first.

They also won a trip to Southwest Jamaica for accomplishing the first place finish. Peter and Sarah were unable to find the Detour in Kuwait City, and because of this they were eliminated from the race.
