Answer: Frankfurt

Departing from the Cathedral Andohalo, teams were instructed to fly to Helsinki, Finland; this season's first European destination. Teams were given two tickets to Paris, which would reach Helsinki, but they were not restricted to use them. All of the teams took a flight to Johannesburg, and then to Frankfurt, Germany before reaching Helsinki. Once there, teams traveled to the Kappeli Café for a clue.

Answer: Dustin and Kandice

At the Kappeli Café teams received a clue via an e-mail from loved ones and were told to take a train and taxi 125 miles to Tampere. Once there, teams traveled to the Soppeenharja School for the clue box. This is where the Detour was performed. In 'Swamp This' (completed by Dustin and Kandice and Lyn and Karlyn), teams had to cross country ski across a swamp.

In 'Swamp That', teams crossed the swamp in an obstacle course. At the end of both, teams obtained their clues.

Answer: Two

After the Detour, teams were instructed to take a train 104 miles to Turku. Dustin and Kandice and Tyler and James caught the first train while the other three teams were stuck on the second leaving an hour later. At Turku's train station, teams took a marked Mercedes 78 miles to the town of Lohja where they had to find the Tytyrin Mine. Once teams descended into the mine, they could receive their clue.

Answer: Limestone

In the Tytyrin Mine, teams found the Road Block. Here, one team member needed to bike one mile deep into the mine to retrieve a block of limestone. They then needed to take the bike and limestone back up the hill and using tools break the stone open to get their next clue. James, Kandice, Godwin, Rob, and Karlyn completed this task.

Answer: Tyler and James

After the Road Block, teams were instructed to drive back to Helsinki, Finland more than thirty miles away. Here, teams needed to find the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, where they could find their next clue. This clue told teams to do one more task: climb the Olympic Tower and rappel face-first down the side of the building.

At the bottom, teams could receive their next clues. Although teams assumed a Pit Stop would be their reward, teams obtained another clue which began with the words "Keep Racing".

Answer: Kiev

In the second half of Leg 9, teams continued the race following the angel dive from Helsinki's Olympic Tower. Teams were instructed to find the marked Russian cars parked outside of the airport in Kiev, Ukraine. Two teams traveled from Helsinki, to Warsaw, to Kiev, while three others went through Vienna as opposed to Warsaw. The Warsaw teams were delayed thirty minutes.

Answer: Dustin

Once teams arrived at their cars in Kiev, they were instructed to travel 58 miles to the Oster Tank School (though the clue was written in Ukrainian). Once there, teams found the Road Block, which instructed one team member to take command. In this task, that member needed to drive a Soviet tank through a 1.2 mile obstacle course.

At the end, the officer would give them their clue. Dustin, James, Kimberly, Godwin, and Lyn completed this task.

Answer: 33

After the Road Block, teams needed to drive 43 miles back to the capital city of Kiev. Once there, teams needed to find a specific apartment building (#3), then find their way to apartment #33. once there, teams could receive their Detour clue. On the way there, Rob and Kimberly were plagued with car troubles, forcing them to require a replacement vehicle, and the Chos and 'Bama split off, both with their different views on how to play the game.

Answer: Make the Music

In the Detour task for this is half of the leg, teams chose between 'Make the Music' and 'Find the Music'. In 'Make the Music', teams needed to go to the Dance and Groove club in Kiev and create a rap. Once they donned traditional rapper gear, teams needed to perform their rap for a judge, who would give them their clue. Karlyn and Lyn, Rob and Kimberly, and Dustin and Kandice completed this task.

In 'Find the Music', teams needed to go to Kiev's conservatory where they needed to search through a thousand pages of music for 'Piano Fantasy'. Once found, teams needed to search for one of six pianists who would play their music and give the clue. Erwin and Godwin and Tyler and James completed this task.

Answer: Erwin and Godwin

After the Detour, teams were instructed to travel two miles to the Great Patriotic War Museum, in Kiev, where they would find the Pit Stop. Tyler and James were first to arrive, giving them the lead and a trip for two to Puerto Vallarta. The last team to arrive was Erwin and Godwin, who were pulled over by the police on the way to the Pit Stop.

They were eliminated in the race, placing fifth overall.
