In the beginning of Leg 3, teams departed from the Pit Stop at the Schloss Hellbrunn in Salzburg, Austria and needed to take a train to the city of Munich, Germany to catch their next flight. Although Tammy and Victor shot ahead on a good flight, technical difficulties with their plane brought them back to a later flight with some of the other teams.
Their destination: seven hundred miles away to Bucharest, Romania.

Once arriving in Bucharest, teams needed to make their way to the Complexul Sportiv National Lia Manoliu to complete a Road Block. One member of each team was required to suit up in a gymnast outfit perform three different routines as shown to them by professional gymnasts.

This began with a balance beam, continued to the parallel bars, and ended with a simple floor routine. Amanda, Margie, Mike, Mark, Kisha, Jaime, Jodi, Tammy, and Victoria completed this Road Block task.

After the Road Block, teams were required to make their way to the next clue in the city of Brasov in Transylvania. To do this, all of the teams needed to take a train ride from the city of Bucharest over a hundred and fifty miles away. Upon arriving at Bisemca Niegra, teams found their Detour task.

In 'Gypsy Move', teams needed to head to a nearby gypsy encampment, load a number of belongings onto a cart, and move them to another property using a horse-drawn trolley. Mel and Mike, Mark and Michael, Kisha and Jen and Amanda and Kris completed this task.

In the 'Vampire Remains' task, teams needed to follow a marked path near Bran Castle to find a clearing containing the necessary materials. To begin, teams needed to pull a chained and locked coffin down a hill, then use a series of keys to unlock it.

After this, teams needed to take picture frames inside and break them open using stakes to find two race flags. Most of these frames also contained blood; it was kind of a mess. After the flags were retrieved, teams received their next clue. Christie and Jodi, Jaime and Cara, Margie and Luke, Tammy and Victor, and Brad and Victoria completed this Detour option.

After the Detour, teams were told to take a taxi to their next Pit Stop, Vila Panoramic in Bran. From here, as teams overlooked the infamous Bran Castle, they checked in on this third rest stop. Mel and Mike ended up arriving in first claiming a trip for two to Costa Rica.

Although Tammy and Victor made crucial mistakes and exhibited sheer bad luck throughout the leg, it was Brad and Victoria who took a risk flying to Amsterdam trying to get an earlier flight and ended up arriving at the Pit Stop several hours after the other teams.

They became the third eliminated team.

Teams departed from the third Pit Stop of the race in the late hours of the night and were told to fly from Bucharest, Romania to the city of Krasnoyarsk in Siberia, Russia. The eight remaining teams arrived at different times very early in the morning and were told to use a ten-ruble note to find their next destination: Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Dam. Once teams walked onto the dam they would be able to find their clue box on top.

Teams headed onward to the town of Ovsyanka to locate the Church of Saint Innokenty where they would find their Detour choice for this leg. Christie and Jodi, Kisha and Jen, Margie and Luke, Jaime and Cara, and Tammy and Victor ended up completing 'Stack' in which they needed to construct a wall of firewood of a certain height. If their firewood fell over they would need to reconstruct it until it was stable. Amanda and Kris, Mark and Michael, and Mel and Mike completed 'Construct' in which they needed to assemble and properly insert a shutter frame on a house before they could receive their next clue.

After the Detour, teams drove through Ovsyanka to reach the Museum of the Last Bow. Here, a revised game mechanic appeared for the first time in the race. This 'Blind U-Turn' allowed teams to U-Turn any possible team behind the users without requiring that they make themselves known. Margie and Luke ended up using this forcing Amanda and Kris to turn around and complete the 'Stack' Detour option costing them a lot of time.

After visiting the Museum of the Last Bow, teams took taxis back to Krasnoyarsk to find the Bobrovy Log Park. Here, one member of each team needed to go to ride a bobsled roller coaster around a three mile track looking for seven different letters. If correct, that member needed to correctly spell the word 'Chekhov' using large tiles in order to proceed and receive their next clue. Kisha, Christie, Victor, Luke, Jaime, Mel, Michael and Kris completed this, and if they could not get all the letters they would need to ride again.

Answer: Amanda and Kris

After the Road Block, teams were told to drive to the next Pit Stop: Krasnoyarsk Theater of Musical Comedy. Christie and Jodi, who made smart flight choices early on in the leg, were able to get a first place win. As a result they ended up winning themselves a motorcycle each. Amanda and Kris were unable to recover from their second Detour task after being (Blind) U-Turned and they became the fourth team to be eliminated leaving no dating or married couples in the race.
