Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 9, teams found their Road Block clue at a statue of which figure(s)?

Answer: Hans Christian Andersen

Leaving the eighth Pit Stop of the race at the Havet ship in Copenhagen, teams were told to make their way to Andersens Boulevard to find the statue of Hans Christian Andersen. This was the Road Block task for this leg of the race requiring that one member of each team (Cindy, Cathi, Tommy, Amani, and Sandy) memorize a quote on the bottom of the statue.

Then, they needed to ride a bike to the Teatermuseet i Hofteatret using a map on the front wheel and recite the quote in a dramatic fashion. If the team member could not recite that quote properly or if they lacked dramatic flare, they would need to bike back to the state and start over.
2. In Leg 9 (in Denmark), teams needed to visit what Danish amusement park to complete a task?

Answer: Legoland

After completing the Road Block in Copenhagen, teams needed to drive themselves through Denmark to the town of Billund. Once there, teams were required to take a puzzle box and hop aboard a spinning teacups ride called the Pirate Carousel. Here, they needed to construct a puzzle out of Lego which would depict their next destination. Teams could only work on the puzzle while the ride was in motion and if a piece was lost, they would need to start over.

After the puzzle was fully constructed they would receive a clue.
3. In Leg 9, teams departed from Denmark to catch a train in which German city?

Answer: Hamburg

After finishing up at Legoland, teams' puzzles directed them to the train station in Hamburg, Germany (Hamburg Hauptbahnhof). Once there, teams found the clue box waiting out front. This Route Info required that teams hop aboard an overnight sleeper train to Cologne, Germany where they could transfer to Brussels, the capital city of Belgium (in an "Amazing Race" first). En route, Ernie and Cindy lost their second set of tickets. Luckily, they were able to get by without.
4. During the bodybuilding task in Belgium (in Leg 9), how many points did teams need to receive?

Answer: 12

Arriving in Brussels, teams needed to find their clues on a bike next to the European Parliament Building. Here, teams needed to complete a task associated with bodybuilding. Taking a taxi to Concert Noble they needed to don Speedos and bikinis, lather themselves in bodybuilding oil, and learn a routine of poses.

When they hit the stage, teams needed to correctly strike their poses and receive a combined score of 12 from a panel of judges, otherwise they'd need to try again.
5. Which team was the first to arrive at the Pit Stop in Belgium in Leg 9?

Answer: Amani and Marcus

After the bodybuilding task, teams needed to take a taxi to the ninth Pit Stop, the gazebo at Parc Elizabeth in Brussels. Amani and Marcus, who left the bodybuilding task first, were the first to arrive at the Pit Stop. Phil rewarded them with a trip for two to Panama City courtesy of Travelocity; this was their second time arriving at a Pit Stop in first place.

Although they had reached the Pit Stop, Phil informed the teams that the race wouldn't be stopping there-- they would be beginning the tenth leg of the race immediately.
6. In Leg 10, did teams remain in Belgium?

Answer: Yes

Taking their clue from Phil at the Leg 9 Pit Stop (which was, effectively, a Pit Continue), teams were told to hop into the nearby cars waiting for them next to Parc Elisabeth and to drive to the Ford Proving Grounds in Lommel, Limburg, Belgium. Because the race continued immediately after teams' arrival at the mat, Bill and Cathi, who arrived in fifth place, were not required to complete a Speed Bump task for this leg of the race.
7. During the Road Block in Leg 10, team members needed to drive which car?

Answer: Mustang

Arriving at the Ford Testing Grounds in Lommel, teams encountered the Road Block for Leg 10 requiring that one member of each team get behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang and complete a three-part challenge involving high speeds. The first required that the team member drive the car down a straightaway reaching 100mph before coming to a stop, the second was a slalom course completed properly in sixteen seconds, and the third involved performing two victory donuts. Ernie, Marcus, Jeremy, Tommy, and Bill took this high-octane challenge.
8. For the Detour task in Leg 10, teams completed either 'Water' or which other option?

Answer: 'Waffle'

After completing the Road Block, teams were told to drive themselves to the city of Ghent, Belgium, where they would locate their Detour clue on a bridge at Burgstraat-Hoofdbrug. The choice was 'Water' and 'Waffle'. In 'Water', teams headed to a nearby canal to construct a raft out of plastic containers, rope, and wood. Once complete they would need to place it in the water and travel to two different halves of a clue located at different points downstream. Andy and Tommy, Marcus and Amani, and Bill and Cathi completed this one.

In 'Waffle', teams constructed a waffle-making station and baked a dozen and a half waffles, decorating them to match an example nearby. Ernie and Cindy and Jeremy and Sandy finished this one up.
9. In Leg 10, teams needed to locate an animal sent to home in on a specific address. What animal was it?

Answer: Pigeon

After the Detour, teams were directed to a truck located on Muur van Geraardsbergen where they would need to assist the driver in releasing one hundred pigeons. The one with their clue would home in on an address at which they could intercept it; this address would be on a business card given to the teams.

When they located the spot, they could retrieve the tiny clue from the bird's leg and use it to travel to the next Pit Stop.
10. At the end of Leg 10, which of the final five teams was eliminated?

Answer: Bill and Cathi

After finding their pigeon, teams needed to proceed by car to their next Pit Stop as denoted on their tiny clue, a picture of the Atomium in Brussels, Belgium's capital city. Here, Andy and Tommy pulled ahead to win their sixth leg (of ten) of the race. For winning, both of them won fully-customizable Ford Mustangs for use after the race (using them during would probably give them an unfair advantage...).

As the sun set in Belgium, Bill and Cathi arrived in last place, unable to overtake any of the four front-running teams during the entire leg.

They were eliminated in fifth place.
