Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 5, teams needed to travel to which city in Poland?

Answer: Gdańsk

Continuing immediately from their non-Pit Stop at the end of Leg 4 in a Viking Longhouse in Vestvågøy, Norway, teams were told to fly to Gdańsk, Poland. Because of this (and perhaps despite the level playing field at the start of Leg 4), all eight teams were once again equalized heading to this port city in Poland. Upon their arrival, teams needed to take a cab to Solidarity Square, a site of importance to the fall of communism, in the Gdańsk Shipyard.

After this, teams continued on to the Golden Gate in Gdańsk's marketplace.
2. Which team utilized the Express Pass in Poland in Leg 5?

Answer: Tim and Marie

Arriving at the Golden Gate, teams needed to select a Detour task. They could complete either 'Pose' or 'Polka'. In 'Pose', teams needed to dress up as Neptune and mimic a statue to earn seventy-five zloty from locals. Once they raised enough money they could continue the leg... in their costumes. Nicky and Kim finished this task while Tim and Marie used the Express Pass to skip it.

The other teams finished 'Polka' in which they visited the Old Town Hall, dressed in traditional garb, and learned a polka to be danced for their next clue. All remaining teams completed this dance.
3. How many teams were U-Turned in Poland in Leg 5?

Answer: Two

After the Detour, teams needed to find the tallest building on Motława River, the Medieval Harbor Crane, to find the Double U-Turn. Once there they had a choice of forcing another team to complete the second Detour option they didn't complete earlier. Tim and Danny used the U-Turn to send Leo and Jamal back to complete 'Pose' while Leo and Jamal did the same to Brandon and Adam to protect themselves.

After this, teams were handed their next clue by the crane operator.
4. During the Road Block in Poland in Leg 5, teams had to find a pastry containing what flavour of jelly?

Answer: Rose

After the U-Turn, teams were told to find the longest apartment complex in all of Poland. Traveling by taxi they ended up finding it, the Falowiec Apartment Complex, and they searched for their clue outside. For this task, a Road Block, team members were given a list of apartments and told to visit as many as it would take to eat a Polish pastry, a pączki, at each and find one containing rose-flavoured jelly. Amy, Marie, Travis, Kim, Danny, Leo, Ashley, and Adam completed this task.
5. Which team was eliminated in Poland in Leg 5?

Answer: Brandon and Adam

After their Road Block task, teams were told to find another of 'Poland's Longest', this time the longest wooden pier in the country. Taking taxis to Sopot Pier in Sopot, Poland, they were told to race on foot to the next Pit Stop at the very end. Here, Tim and Marie, who used their Express Pass, placed first merely seconds ahead of two other leading teams.

They won a trip for two to Hawaii courtesy of Travelocity for their efforts. After being U-Turned, Brandon and Adam ended up arriving in last place (despite a first place victory in Leg 4) and they were eliminated from the race.
6. In Leg 6, teams were told to head to Vienna, Austria. Did anyone claim the Fast Forward in this leg of the race?

Answer: No

In Leg 6, teams departed from Sopot Pier in Poland and were told to travel by train more than six hundred miles to Vienna, the capital city of Austria. To do this, teams took trains from Gdańsk to Warsaw and then southward to Vienna. Upon their arrival, in their first clue, teams received the option to head to the Donauturm for a Fast Forward bungee jump off the tower, but due to inclement weather (wind-related), no teams completed it (though Jason and Amy went for it).
7. All teams completed the same Detour task in Austria in Leg 6.

Answer: True

Reaching Vienna, teams needed to find the famous Vienna State Opera and, once inside, follow Rigoletto to the building's costume department for their clue. This turned out to be a Detour consisting of 'The Light Brigade' or 'Masquerade'. Though none of the teams chose the former task, it involved assembling a chandelier using several pieces.

Instead, everyone went for 'Masquerade' in which they had to wear masks into a lavish ball and match the intricate designs on their masks to those of the dancers.
8. What did team members need to do with the Vienna Boys Choir during the Road Block in Leg 6?

Answer: Sing alongside them

After the Detour, teams needed to find their Road Block task waiting on a musical lectern outside the Palais Augarten. For this task, one member of each team needed to be 'a choir boy at heart' and learn the German words to Franz Schubert's "Die Forelle".

When they performed the song, including its proper pitch and tone (and words) to the satisfaction of the conductor (after working with an instructor) they could receive their next clue. Jamal, Ally, Nicky, Travis, Tim, Tim, and Amy finished this task.
9. Before reaching the Pit Stop in Vienna in Leg 6, teams had to search for a clue in which of these?

Answer: Hedge maze

After completing the Road Block task with the Vienna Boys Choir, teams had to take a taxi (some with more drama than others) to one of Austria's largest palaces, Schönbrunn Palace. Once there, they needed to locate the hedge maze on the palace grounds and navigate it to a central platform to find their next clue box.

They were allowed to get help from those already in the maze. After this, they were able to head to the next Pit Stop on foot.
10. Which team was eliminated in Leg 6?

Answer: Tim and Danny

After the hedge maze, teams were told to race on foot to their next Pit Stop, the Gloriette atop the hill on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace. Because of Travis' clever singing at the Road Block, it was Nicole and Travis who won their way to first place (for a second time) at the sixth Pit Stop.

This time they won a trip for two to Anguilla courtesy of Travelocity (who else?). Due to a poor showing at the Road Block, Oklahomans Tim and Danny were the last to arrive. They were eliminated.
