Heading out from the race's second Pit Stop in Patio Daemon, Nagano, teams needed to take the bullet train through Japan, back to Tokyo, to catch a flight taking them to Thailand as soon as possible-- the race would be taking them to Phuket in the southern end of the country.

This being the first opportunity for teams to book their own flights, a number of teams arrived in the late evening, but one team wasn't able to book a flight until the next morning.

Answer: Selfie sticks

Arriving in Phuket, teams took taxis to Bangla Road on Patong Beach where they had to find a departure time for the next morning attached to the end of a selfie stick. Following this, all nine remaining teams were expected to occupy five rooms at the Patong Beach Bed and Breakfast Hotel anticipating their clues at the front desk upon waking up.

When they set out the next morning, they were told to take cabs to Baan Teelanka, better known as the 'Upside-Down House', where they were able to search the premises for their next clue.

Answer: True

Reaching the Upside-Down House, teams ended up finding their Detour options waiting for them. One of these, 'Ski', sent teams to the Phuket Wake Park where both members of the team needed to take a ride on a tow line and reach the end of the pool without falling off their board. Since none of the teams were able to complete this physical task, everyone ended up moving to the 'Tree' task across Phuket instead. For said task, the teams needed to dress as waiters at the Flying Hanuman and deliver a set of ingredients via a zipline through the treetops without spilling anything. All nine teams did so.

Answer: Learn a dance

After the Detour, teams were told to head to their next route marker in front of My Way Cabaret on Patong Beach. Arriving there, teams were faced with an interesting activity as they had to dress each other up in costumes and perform onstage with the local ladyboys, memorizing the dance moves in the club and showing them to the patrons.

When they had the dance down pat, they would receive their clue from the stage manager and be able to change back into their regular clothes.

Answer: Harley and Jonathan

After their performances onstage, the teams were told to make their way to the Sri Panwa Hotel to find the third Pit Stop atop the Baba Nest Rooftop Bar. Here, Mike and Rochelle beat the other teams by nearly a half hour winning a trip for two to Prague, Czech Republic courtesy of Travelocity.

The next seven teams arrived within minutes of each other with Matt and Ashley getting engaged in front of them; Kurt and Bergen gave them their Date Night pass. Harley and Jonathan, hours behind, placed last but were spared from elimination.

Answer: Grasshopper

In Leg 4, teams flew from Phuket to the Thai capital, Bangkok, in its northern reach. Once they touched down, they needed to make their way by any means to the grounds of Wat Yan Nawa and ascend to the rooftop terrace to find their next clue box. Here, Harley and Jonathan encountered their Speed Bump task in which they had to find a marked location by the river and, using an example and precut pieces, construct an elaborate grasshopper using nothing more than river reeds.

When they presented the finished piece to the shopkeeper, they could return to the race course.

Answer: Thousand-Year-Old Egg

Finding their first clue in Bangkok, teams split up to embark on one of two extensive Detour options. In 'Water', teams needed to make their way on foot to the nearby longtail boat stand where they could board one of five boats to Wat Klang Food Market.

There, both members had to find the stall selling Century Eggs and eat one each to get the next bit of info-- a gold plate sending them to Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen to participate in a traditional Thai prayer ceremony. When this was done, they could head to their next clue. Laura and Tyler, Bergen and Kurt, Matt and Ashley, Mike and Rochelle, and Aly and Steve completed this series of tasks.

Answer: Snooker

Teams deciding to complete 'Wheel' instead of 'Water' needed to find a marked tuk-tuk and travel through the confusing, busy streets of Bangkok to find a specific snooker hall. There, the team members needed to work together to sink a single red ball to receive their next clue-- a bottle of milk with their next destination, the Caturday Cafe, written on the side. With this in hand, they needed to find the cafe and serve its hungry patrons, several cats, before receiving their next clue. Hayley and Blair, Jeff and Jackie, Jelani and Jenny, and Harley and Jonathan completed this task.

Answer: Screwdriver

After the Detour, teams needed to make their way to an auto wreckage site in Pathum Wan Siang Gong to find their Road Block clue, and for this one they had to pick a team member who was 'feeling clutchy'. For this task, the selected teammate needed to pick an auto transmission and find a way inside to retrieve a misplaced screwdriver.

When they did so, by whatever means they figured necessary, they would need to open the screwdriver to find their next clue-- a strip of cloth reading 'METAL CASTLE'. Tyler, Steve, Matt, Bergen, Blair, Rochelle, Jeff, Jelani, and Jonathan completed this task.

Answer: Harley and Jonathan

After completing the Road Block, teams needed to analyze their 'METAL CASTLE' clue and determine the location of their next Pit Stop in front of the Loha Prasat structure in Wat Ratchanatdaram in Bangkok. There, Bergen and Kurt won their first leg of the race, earning themselves a trip for two to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico courtesy of Travelocity. Date Night for this leg ended up being won by blind daters Laura and Tyler who would receive a romantic evening on the Chao Phraya River.

In the end, Harley and Jonathan were unable to make up the time lost from the leg before and they were eliminated having not seen the other teams on the course.
