Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. With an amazing gift came great responsibility - for the whole attractive family! On the hit series "Medium", which member of the DuBois household was not born with a precognitive gift?

Answer: Joe

Joe DuBois, played by Jake Weber, was shown to be a brilliant and patient engineer, but was not born psychic. Allison, played by Patricia Arquette, carried the 'medium' gene and all three of her beautiful daughters inherited her gift. Allison was hired by the Phoenix District Attorney's office to use her gift and help solve murders, occasionally preventing some as well. Several seasons into the show, she was able to solve the murder of her boss' daughter. They'd originally believed she'd committed suicide, but that was not the case. Allison's half-brother was also born with the gift, but has shied away from it on the show. A standing joke among fans of the series, as I read in the "TV Guide", has been the way Allison jerks awake with precognitive nightmares constantly. Her poor husband Joe was almost never seen getting a decent night's sleep!

Allison and Joe DuBois are based on the real life couple from Phoenix. On the series, their three daughters' names have been changed. The real Allison has also stated that she rarely dreams anything psychically significant, unlike her TV counterpart. The series was canceled by NBC in 2009, only to be saved instantly by CBS. It continued to air in the same time slot for the 2009-2010 season, only on the new network. Though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I personally find most of the main cast (law enforcement and not) to be attractive.

2. This handsome actor made his name with appearances on "Law and Order". In 2009, he made a transition to "The Good Wife". Can you name this actor?

Answer: Chris Noth

It may be argued that Chris Noth is typecast as the typical "law enforcement" character. Nevertheless, he has made a substantial career out of portraying this genre of characters. On an aside, he is also noted for playing "Mr. Big," on "Sex and the City".

This question is humbly submitted by our very own crafty cutie, christopherm.
3. "Charlie's Angels" featured three very attractive women employed as private investigators working for the Charles Townsend Agency. Which of these actresses was NOT one of the original Angels?

Answer: Cheryl Ladd

The series premiered in 1976 and was a huge success. A poster of Farrah in a red swimsuit adorned the walls of many a teenage boy's room.

Fawcett-Majors, who played Jill Munroe, quit the show after the first season and was replaced by Ladd, who played her younger sister, Kris. Kate Jackson, who played Sabrina Duncan, left in 1979 and was replaced by Shelley Hack (Tiffany Welles), whilst Jaclyn Smith (Kelly Garrett) was the only original Angel left when the series ended in 1981. Tanya Roberts (Julie Rogers) replaced Hack for the last two seasons.

Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu played Angels in the 2000 movie.

Sadly Farrah died in 2009, on the same day as the world also lost Michael Jackson.

4. Being attractive might be a prerequisite for getting hired in this counter-terrorist group, but it's no guarantee that you'll survive the season. Even working around the clock doesn't seem to detract from the good looks of this hard-working team. What's the name of the show?

Answer: 24

"24" plays in real time, with each episode representing an hour in a very long day for L.A. based CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) members, as they battle nuclear threats, bio-chemical pathogens and all out terrorist attacks. The members are, for the most part, dedicated, young, beautiful and liable to be killed off in any given episode, as the show's writers have no compunction about maintaining suspense by eliminating characters viewers might think of as essential to the show.

Federal Agent Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, knows it's a bad world out there, and he isn't afraid to get dirty and break a few rules for the greater good. In Season 7 his less-than-orthodox approach catches up to him, and he finds his beloved CTU shut down and himself on trial before a senate sub-committee. It doesn't take long before he's needed to thwart another terrorist plot, and the FBI pull him during his testimony. They may despise his methods, but they don't hesitate to call on him to get the job done.

5. The attractive members of this television show were famous for their "youthful" good looks. Which show, featuring officers going undercover in America's high schools, also showcased the casts' singing talents by having them sing the theme song?

Answer: 21 Jump Street

"21 Jump Street" ran from 1987 to 1991. Holly Robinson Peete sang the theme song, with Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise contributing the word "jump". "21 Jump Street" was as well known for its attractive cast as for tackling controversial issues. During its run "21 Jump Street" featured story lines dealing with, amongst other things; gangs, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and rape. It was not unusual to see the cast perform a public service announcement at the end of an episode.

Among the ridiculously good looking cast were Holly Robinson Peete who played Judy Hoffs, Peter DeLuise as Doug Penhall and Dustin Nguyen as Harry Truman Ioki. Johnny Depp, whose level of attractiveness warrants a separate sentence, played Tom Hanson. It is well known that Johnny Depp lobbied long and hard to be released from his contract to the show, he was finally let go after the 4th season. Of course, this fact didn't prevent the producers featuring his image prominently on the DVD cover for the fifth season, and thus providing the rest of us with one more opportunity to ogle the handsome Hanson.

6. TV's Miami Metro Homicide Department is notable for at least two employees who are extremely easy on the eyes - the pretty but feisty Officer (later Detective) Debra Morgan, and her dangerously handsome foster brother, who supports the department as a forensics bloodstain analyst. Which show features this attractive pair of siblings?

Answer: Dexter

Life is hard if you're working homicide in the Miami Metro P.D., so it helps to have some eye candy around to take your mind off all the murder and mayhem. That probably explains why Debra Morgan spends a lot of her time on the show dealing with marriage proposals from the mass murderer she's investigating, office romances, and unwanted advances from Masuka, the resident Casanova in the department, all of which gets in the way of her actual police work. Her foster brother, Dexter Morgan, also has his share of attention from the opposite sex, although he is more emotionally closed-off than his sister because of the double life he is leading. "Dexter" follows the exploits of the title character as he helps to solve murders in his day job, while maintaining a secret life as a serial killer who hunts other killers and monsters.

Dexter is portrayed by Michael C. Hall (best known for playing David Fisher in five seasons of "Six Feet Under"), and Jennifer Carpenter (who played the title role in the film "The Exorcism of Emily Rose") plays his younger sister, Debra. In real life, these two actors obviously found each other to be attractive - despite playing siblings on "Dexter", the couple started dating and eloped on December 31, 2008.

7. Real life courtrooms wouldn't seem so dreary if all the lawyers and district attorneys looked like Dylan McDermott and Lara Flynn Boyle! Which legal drama featured these two attractive adversaries?

Answer: The Practice

Besides Dylan McDermott and Lara Flynn Boyle, "The Practice" starred Kelli Williams, Steve Harris, Camryn Manheim, Michael Badlucco, and Lisa Gay Hamilton. It originally ran from 1997-2004 in the US. The show often centered more on the legal cases in each episode than on the personal lives of the cast of characters.

8. These attractive men and women form a hard working team that deals with the worst kind of human behaviour. Flying off to different parts of the US in their private jet, they help out local law enforcement by developing a profile for the UNSUB and assisting in his or her capture. What hard-hitting show is this?

Answer: Criminal Minds

First airing in 2005, "Criminal Minds" follows a fictional team of criminal profilers from the FBI's BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit). They generally only go where they are invited, usually when some local law enforcement agency has reason to believe that they have a repeat, or serial killer on their hands. Once there, they assist in the capture of the UNSUB (Unknown Subject) by providing a profile to help in identification and trying to predict his or her next move, hopefully before another murder is committed. Occasionally they are called on to investigate a crime that's a lot closer to home, when one of their own is targeted.

They see human behaviour at its worst, and the effects this has on their private lives is also examined, sometimes resulting in one of the team quitting, and withdrawing from the series.

9. Granted, this American icon may not be young any more, but she is still decidedly attractive. And - a rare occurrence in TV series - she is perfectly credible portraying a woman not only beautiful and sexy, but brilliant in her profession as well: attorney Shirley Schmidt, senior partner of the law firm featured on "Boston Legal". Who is she?

Answer: Candice Bergen

Sophisticated, cool, and loaded with screen presence, Candice Bergen seems made for the role of Shirley Schmidt, founding partner of the law firm Crane, Poole & Schmidt.

A tough attorney, Shirley handles her cases at court brilliantly, and never fails to save her firm's good name, constantly jeopardised by the eccentric behaviour of her partner Denny Crane (played by William Shatner). No wonder several men love her: Crane, with whom she had a short liaison in the past, her colleague Alan Shore (played by James Spader) and a series of guest stars. For this role, the American actress was nominated for two Emmys.

Daughter of famous ventriloquist Edgar Bergen, Candice Bergen started her career as a child by taking part in her father's radio program.

10. Rick and Kate have made a dashing duo on the ABC hit "Castle". Kate Beckett is the New York police detective, but what interesting profession does Rick Castle use to lend aid in solving crimes?

Answer: Mystery writer

Played by the alluring Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion, Kate and Rick used clues, cunning and creativity to solve their mysteries. Rick's a successful writer of fiction mystery, and it was his relationship to the mayor that allowed him to work side by side with Kate. She grudgingly accepted the assignment, and soon Castle was writing a new series based on Kate. He called that title character Nikki Heat, and by the end of season two was working on the second novel. The pair ignored their growing love and attraction for each other, but he realized it first. When pressed to make a choice between Rick and her cop boyfriend, Kate chose Rick. Unfortunately, Rick had decided to back off from Kate and spend the summer with his ex-wife and publisher. Maybe when season three kicks off, the two will begin to find their way back toward each other.
