Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In season one, which queen triumphed over Ongina during a lipsync to Britney Spears' "Stronger", propelling her to an inevitable win in the show's first season when she removed her wig?

Answer: Bebe Zahara Benet

Performed during the third-to-last week of the competition, "Stronger" was one of the more memorable lipsyncs of the inaugural season because it featured an emotional turn from both Bebe and Ongina. The latter, a bald queen, wasn't able to keep up with the almost emotional reveal that occurred when Bebe removed the wig right off her head.
Interestingly, the song "Stronger" returned in the season nine live finale when Peppermint and Trinity Taylor went head-to-head. Peppermint turned out a wig reveal herself, clinching the victory.
2. Regarded as one of the show's iconic lipsyncs, which song featured Roxxxy Andrews' famous wig reveal while competing against Alyssa Edwards?

Answer: 'Whip My Hair' by Willow Smith

Considered a classic by fans, this season five lipsync proved to be somewhat of a turning point in the competition as inevitable four-time lipsyncer Alyssa Edwards was pitted against emotional bus-stop queen Roxxxy Andrews onstage. At the start of the song-- 'Whip My Hair'-- Roxxxy pulled off her long wig to reveal an even longer one underneath, all the better to literally whip her hair back and forth.

The theatrics and hairography were strong enough from both queens that RuPaul saw no other option but to let them both stay in the competition. Roxxxy would subsequently make it to the finale.
3. During "All-Stars 2", which queen pulled an American flag from their wig (a blonde afro)?

Answer: Alaska

In a generally strong season for both competitors and Lipsyncs for their Legacies, the queens of "All-Stars 2" turned it out on the runway. Episode six saw Alaska and Katya win their marketing challenges and, thus, both ended up onstage following their 'Pants on the Runway' runway show to perform Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' "Cherry Bomb". Alaska, sporting a blonde afro and a fringed outfit coloured like the American flag, used the opportunity to pull the flag from her hair to wow the judges. It worked.

She sent home Tatianna.
4. Sasha Velour won season 9 on the back of an iconic lipsync in which what one of the following was hidden under her wig?

Answer: Rose petals

Cited as one of the most gag-worthy lipsyncs of the entire show, the live season 9 finale pitted Sasha Velour against Shea Coulee against each other to Whitney Houston's "So Emotional" and Sasha, who never had to perform as part of the bottom two, turned it out by engaging with the performative elements of the song. Appearing onstage in a long red wig despite being known throughout the season as a 'bald queen', she removed it at a critical point in the song to reveal a cascade of rose petals beneath, wowing the audience and clinching a spot in the final lipsync (which she subsequently won).
5. Which season of the show featured the 'Wigs on Wigs on Wigs' runway?

Answer: All-Stars 3

In an homage to Roxxxy Andrews' famous wigs on wigs reveal from season five, "All-Stars 3" featured 'Wigs on Wigs on Wigs' in episode 3 following an improv acting challenge based on "The Bachelor". Each look for this runway needed to have a wig reveal of some sort.

While some queens opted to cover wigs with other wigs, some incorporated 'ruveals' into their actual clothing. Only Bebe Zahara Benet wore a single wig, revealing a different style upon modification; other queens wore three.
6. A poorly-timed wig reveal cost which queen a Lipsync for her Legacy in "All-Stars 3", allowing for Bendelacreme to perform a self-elimination?

Answer: Bebe Zahara Benet

I know it's odd to keep pushing these questions to be about Bebe, but the queen has a lot of wig-related trivia. In episode six, the final five queens battled it out to stay in the competition while the five eliminated queens vied for a space back on the roster.

In the end, Bendelacreme and Bebe Zahara Benet battled to lipsync "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" by Deborah Cox and Ben won when Bebe removed her wig to show...nothing. The ill-timed subpar de-wigging, in a season about wowing the audience, was a bit indicative of the changes in the show over the previous nine years.

When Bebe started, the wig removal was empowering; for a modern competitor, it's a stunt that needs timing to work. Dela eliminated herself shortly after in one of the most controversial moments of the show.
7. Which queen, criticized in the past for her pussycat wigs, won "All-Stars 4" with a wig reveal that unveiled a pussycat wig underneath another pussycat wig?

Answer: Monet X Change

Monet, first appearing in season ten of the show, was often criticized by the judges for bringing similar looks in succession, most of which utilized a flat pussycat wig. Ever the comedy queen, Monet resisted its allure in "All-Stars 4" (for the most part) and showed a variety of looks, bringing a blonde wig back out for the final lipsync against Trinity the Tuck (to the song "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera). During an emotional refrain, she tore the wig off to reveal...the exact same wig underneath.
8. Season eleven of the show featured 'Wig-gate'. Whose wigs were a point of contention during the filming?

Answer: Ariel Versace

In season eleven, Instagram queen Ariel Versace was eliminated in fifth place and chose to leave ten of her wigs behind in the workroom upon her booting. What followed was a season-long argument blown out of proportion as the remaining girls battled it out over who the wigs were left for.

The situation escalated all the way to the reunion episode. On Twitter, Ariel claimed she left one wig for Silky Nutmeg Ganache, one for A'Keria C. Davenport, and the rest for Plastique Tiara. Anyone who said otherwise was wrong. Most considered the drama contrived.

It was.
9. In an attempt to save herself from a poor Snatch Game showing, which queen performed a wig reveal into a "Showgirls-esque" performance on the runway in season eleven?

Answer: Brooke Lynn Hytes

Snatch Game proved to be the undoing for two of the season eleven frontrunners (Brooke Lynn Hytes and Yvie Oddly) who would end up being the final two in the finale, and to make good on their mistakes, both ended up preparing wig reveals for the runway. Brooke performed hers for the judges before being placed in the bottom two, throwing away a huge black afro to reveal a cascade of blonde hair and a Nomi Malone-style outfit. Yvie showed hers off for the lipsync to "Sorry Not Sorry" (by Demi Lovato). Ultimately, it proved to be one of the highest-energy lipsyncs of the season; both were spared.
10. The first lipsync of "RuPaul's Drag Race UK" featured a handful of wig reveals, all from one queen. Who survived on the back of their performance?

Answer: Vinegar Strokes

The first lipsync, following a double-length royal runway extravaganza, featured a bottom two of Vinegar Strokes and Gothy Kendoll, both of whom had to perform Dua Lipa's "New Rules". During the performance, Vinegar removed wigs in time with the song, showing off different looks a la Mark Kanemura's "Call Me Maybe" routine. Gothy was sent home as the UK's first eliminated drag queen. Vinegar lasted two more episodes before her dismissal.
