Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Homer tries to leave the power plant early to attend a Duff brewery tour, he encounters a giant spider that can be defeated simply by reciting a bible verse. Which Bible verse does he choose?

Answer: He can't remember one, so he throws a rock at the spider

While the spider is stunned he jumps out a window where Barney's car is waiting with a mattress tied to the roof. Homer hits the ground because Barney moves the car to get a better look at a pile of rags he mistakes for Princess Diana.
2. On the Duff tour, we see some vintage ads for Duff Beer including one that was shoehorned into a 1960 US presidential debate. Which two men were in this debate?

Answer: Richard Nixon & John F. Kennedy

Kennedy is applauded for his enjoyment of the beer, while Nixon's endorsement is heckled and jeered. Says an indignant Homer: "The man never drank a Duff in his life!"
3. On the Duff conveyer belt, one of the bottles that passes by contains the head of Adolf Hitler.

Answer: True

We also see several rats, a set of teeth, and a syringe among the other dangerous items in the bottles. Earlier in the episode, the tour guide mentions a CNN news report about strychnine in Duff beer. It's a wonder no one ever died drinking it.
4. After a long day of drinking at the plant, Homer gets busted for DWI by Chief Wiggum, undercover in a giant beer stein. When Barney bumps into Wiggum's beer stein and knocks him down a hill, what happens?

Answer: He crashes into a tree and explodes

This seems to be a recurring joke from the early days of "The Simpsons": things exploding for no apparent reason. Miraculously, Wiggum shows up alive and well in the very next scene.
5. During Homer's court-ordered driver's education, we see a snippet of a P.S.A. starring Troy McClure. McClure mentions the titles of some of his other driver's ed videos, including...what?

Answer: "Alice's Adventures Through the Windshield Glass"

He mentions another video he starred in: "The Decapitation of Larry Leadfoot". Homer and the other attendees are forced to watch a video of real-life car crashes; we don't see the footage but, judging by their reactions, it must be pretty grisly. McClure comments "Here's an appealing fellow! In fact, they're a-peeling him off the sidewalk!"
6. When Marge asks Homer to give up beer for a month, he mishears her and thinks she asked him to give up what instead?

Answer: Deer

He relents, and agrees not to drink beer for a whole month. However, immediately after turning out the lights, she hears the sound of a beer can opening. Homer insists it was him saying "Pssst, I love you."
7. In the episode's subplot, Lisa has developed a science fair project that she hopes will end world hunger. What was the result of this project?

Answer: A giant tomato

Lisa: "I've grown a futuristic tomato by fertilizing it with anabolic steroids."
Bart: "The kind of steroids that help our Olympic athletes reach new peaks of excellence?"
Lisa: "The very same!"
8. Lisa's science project is ruined when Bart sees an opportunity to throw it at someone. Who does he throw it at?

Answer: Principal Skinner

While Lisa goes to find her math book, she makes the mistake of trusting Bart to hold her tomato. When Skinner bends over to tie his shoelaces, Bart can't resist the urge to pitch the tomato directly at his butt. Lisa is outraged, but she gets back at him with an experiment that proves that Bart is dumber than a hamster.
9. During his beer-free month, Homer goes to a watch a sporting game, and says he "never realized how boring this game was" without beer. What sport is it?

Answer: Baseball

In his defense, the game is held up by a beach ball being thrown onto the field and the ball boys arguing over who's going to go out and pick it up.
10. Homer starts drinking again immediately after the month ends.

Answer: False

He instead goes for a sunset bike ride with his wife. The episode ends with Homer carrying Marge in his bike's basket while singing "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head".
