The character of Rex Banner is based on Elliot Ness, who led the Prohibition-Enforcement team, The Untouchables, in Chicago, Illinois. His life inspired movies, T.V. shows and a series of novels. On "The Simpsons", Rex Banner is voiced by Dave Thomas.

At his father's insistence, Bart works for Belle as punishment for damaging her property with a remote control airplane. Belle is voiced by the very talented Tress MacNeille, who has guest starred on the series several times. She has also provided voices for many other shows including "Futurama", "Muppet Babies", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "My Little Pony 'n Friends".

He succeeds and they get back together but Bart changes his mind when he realizes that losing Mr Burns' scholarship will ruin Lisa's life.

In "A Hunka Hunka Burns In Love" Mr.Burns decides to ask Gloria to marry him, and she accepts. When Mr. Burns goes to get some champagne to celebrate, Snake, who is Gloria's ex-boyfriend, chooses that time to rob Barney's Bowl A-Rama and ends up kidnapping both Gloria and Homer.

The episode title is a reference to the Bond film "You Only Live Twice", and many elements of the episode parody the films. The portrayal of Hank Scorpio marks Albert Brooks's fourth guest spot on "The Simpsons" and Mr. Scorpio is one of the most popular one-time characters in the show's history.

During a meeting of Jesse's activist group, Dirt First, Lisa learns that an ancient tree in Springfield is to be demolished. Lisa volunteers to live in the tree to prevent its destruction. She soon begins to miss her family and sneaks away from the tree one night and goes home to see them. When she rushes to the tree in the morning, she finds it has been hit by lightning and destroyed.
