Seth has mentioned the movie "X-2" in other episodes, but it's not part of the little pity party that he throws himself. He's depressed about what happened in San Diego and is stressing over the possibility that Summer and Zach had sex.

Seth goes on to explain the differences between wallowing and agonizing. He clarifies that wallowing is "lounging around, eating ice cream, watching VH1" while agonizing "requires discipline. Days of no sleep. No food."

Sandy is putting on his tie when Kirsten comes up. They discuss Seth's mood lately and then switch over to the topic of Rebecca. Sandy mentions Max's memorial service and when Kirsten tries to offer moral support and volunteers to come along, Sandy tells her that it'll just be him and Rebecca.

He claims that they couldn't have a public service because the Feds would show up looking for Rebecca. Kirsten does not like this idea.

We see a shot of Julie and Caleb through the window to Caleb's office. Julie is obviously mad at something that Caleb has told her. Kirsten runs into Lindsay outside of the office and they enter together. Caleb announces that he would like to formally adopt Lindsay, saying that with his recent heart attack, he's realized that something could happen to him at anytime and he wants to make sure that Lindsay will be taken care of.

The two agents visit Kirsten and obviously ask her some questions but the viewers don't see the meeting between the three. We find out later what was asked (and how it was answered) when Kirsten confronts Sandy about it. Sandy is worried that Kirsten revealed too much, saying that he wouldn't want Kirsten looking like an accomplice. Kirsten wonders if Sandy is more worried that Kirsten might give information on Rebecca.

Julie visits Renee and, under the guise of being a concerned stepmother-to-be, warns Renee that Caleb will be asking for a paternity test. She acts like she's convinced that Renee has been telling the truth all these years and that "no one is suggesting Caleb isn't the father. I mean, after all, you would have said something, right? All these years you've been taking his money? God, otherwise that would be, like, fraud, wouldn't it?" Julie then says that if Renee should have any doubt at all, it would probably be best not to proceed with the whole adoption issue.

As always, the episode is divided into several different plot points. The one involving Seth, Summer and Zach is no longer around their comic book but it focuses on Seth's obsession with the idea that Summer and Zach may have consummated their relationship while in San Diego. We finally find out (along with Seth) that they did not end up having sex. Summer finally tells this to Seth for the sake of the people that have to live with him and his unshowered body.

We see Seth shoveling in a cheeseburger and enjoying the fact that Summer and Zach did not do the deed in San Diego. Zach enters and joins Seth in the booth. Zach tells Seth that he's realized that nothing would be more perfect for the first time between him and Summer as in a villa in Tuscany. Seth is in shock and ends up pushing his plate of food away.

Marissa finally confides in Summer about her relationship with Alex. Summer reacts with disbelief but admits that Alex is hot. Marissa wonders if they're still friends and Summer says that of course they are. She hugs Marissa to prove her point and then asks the above quote which serves as an ice-breaker.

After Lindsay storms out, Julie enters and tells Caleb not to worry, she'll cover for him. They do, after all, have to make an announcement pertaining to why they're throwing the party.

Summer is sitting in her bedroom, watching "The Valley" when Seth enters. He tells her to take a good, long look at him because she'll never see him like that again. He then says to have a good time in Tuscany, he's over her, and to send him a postcard while she's there.

Sandy asks them what they are watching and what it is about. Seth sums up the movie saying that Hellboy "tried to do good but usually ends up destroying everything." Sandy can relate and says that Hellboy is "my kind of hero."

This line is said right after Julie visits Renee to warn her about the DNA test. Renee is about to slam the door in Renee's face but Lindsay enters and catches the door. Julie quickly gives a different reason for visiting and leaves.

When Zach and Seth are having their conversation in the restaurant about Tuscany, Zach says this as a parting comment to Seth.
