Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What did Bodie and Poot watch be demolished at the beginning of season three?

Answer: The projects towers

The politicians had decided to demolish the towers and build low cost housing there instead. Bodie and Poot reminisced about growing up there, with Poot being particularly sentimental. Bodie said it was just a building. The problem for them now was that they needed to find new territory to sell their drugs.
2. In season three, Omar and his crew attempted to rob a Barksdale stash house but the operation ended in a gun battle. Who was killed?

Answer: Omar's crew member, Tosha

Tosha had pretended to be looking for a lost child and was able to disarm the guard while the rest of Omar's crew entered the house. However the guards at the back of the house were alerted, and Omar's team had to rush out in a flurry of gun fire. During the exchange, Omar's boyfriend, Dante, accidentally shot Tosha.
3. In season three, the police interrogated drug dealer Melvin "Cheese" Wagstaff after hearing him on the wire talk about killing Dog. Who was Dog?

Answer: Cheese's dog

Most of the drug dealers had nicknames, so it never occurred to the police that "Dog" was actually a dog. Cheese's dog had lost a dog fight, and Cheese had shot him, only to find out that the dog had been tampered with by the opponent's handlers. When the police heard him talking about killing Dog on the wire, they were surprised because he had never spoken so openly.

But they were even more surprised when he broke down crying during the interrogation, and they came to realize that "Dog" was a dog.
4. The various drug crews formed a coalition to share the territories and the product in season three. Who refused to join the coalition and ended up in a war with the Barksdale gang?

Answer: Marlo Stanfield

After the projects towers came down, the Barksdale crew needed new territory so they moved onto some of the streets occupied by Marlo's gang. This resulted in violent turf battles. Stringer Bell met with Marlo to convince him to join the coalition and share their territories and product, but Marlo was determined to stand on his own. Proposition Joe later told Bell that Marlo had agreed to discuss the situation, but by that time, Avon Barksdale was too worked up to back down.
5. In season three, how did Avon Barksdale find out that Stringer Bell had ordered D'Angelo's murder?

Answer: Stringer Bell told him.

Stringer Bell had ordered D'Angelo's death in season two because he was concerned that D'Angelo might turn against them. When Barksdale accused Bell of "having lost his hard edge for the street", Bell told him that he had ordered D'Angelo killed because Barksdale wouldn't do it.

Although Barksdale initially lashed out at him, he accepted it and later yelled at his sister when she asked him about the murder.
6. In season three, some members of the Barksdale gang ambushed Omar one Sunday morning. What was he doing at the time?

Answer: Taking his grandmother to church

Omar had been raised by his grandmother, and he had a close relationship with her. He was escorting her to church when members of Barksdale's crew ambushed him, forcing him to throw his grandmother into a cab to escape. The attack caused Barksdale a lot of grief since there was an understanding among drug gangs that Sunday mornings were to be violence free. Omar was particularly upset since his grandmother didn't know he was involved with drug gangs; she thought he worked at a cafeteria at the airport.
7. In season three, Dennis "Cutty" Wise was released from prison and was offered a position in Barksdale's crew, but he found that he no longer had the stomach for it. What did he end up doing?

Answer: Opened a boxing gym

Cutty tried to get a job but found that his parole officer and the employment office had little time for him. He worked with a landscaping crew but ended up signing on with Barksdale's crew as "muscle". However he froze up when he was supposed to kill someone, realizing that he could no longer do it, and he parted on friendly terms with Barksdale.

He ended up opening a boxing gym and recruiting some of the kids who worked with the drug dealers as boxing students.
8. Stringer Bell wanted Slim Charles to kill someone who had cheated him out of $250,000 in season three. Who was the target?

Answer: State Senator Clay Davis

Clay Davis had told Stringer Bell that he needed to pay bribes to get grants for his construction project, and he told him that it would cost $250,000. Bell made the payment but didn't get the expected results. He brought the matter up to Barksdale's attorney Levy and was told that he'd been scammed. Fuming mad, he told Slim Charles that he wanted Davis killed, but Slim Charles told Bell that that would be an assassination. Avon Barksdale overhead the conversation and told Bell it was his own fault, and they weren't going after Davis.
9. In season three, Brother Mouzone returned to get revenge on Stringer Bell for sending Omar to kill him. Who gave Mouzone the information on where to find Bell on the day that Bell was killed?

Answer: Avon Barksdale

After Brother Mouzone tracked down Omar and found out that it was Stringer Bell who had sent Omar to kill him, he confronted Avon Barksdale with the information. Barksdale tried to offer money to Mouzone, but Mouzone wanted Bell. Realizing he had no choice, Barksdale found out Bell's plans to meet with a contractor at the building site and shared the information with Mouzone. Both Mouzone and Omar went to the site and killed Bell.
10. At the end of season three, Avon Barksdale was once again headed to prison after the police raided his headquarters and found a large stash of weapons. Who had tipped off the police about the weapons?

Answer: Stringer Bell

Bell and Barksdale had increasingly diverged on their vision for their operation. Bell wanted to focus on the profitability and felt that violence only attracted police attention. Barksdale, however, enjoyed the gangster aspect of the operation. As Barksdale accumulated weapons for a war with Marlo, Bell decided to talk with Police Major Colvin.

As he told Colvin, he believed they both had the same goals - to eliminate the body count. Bell died before Barksdale's hideout was raided, but McNulty made sure that he knew it was Bell who turned him in.
