Answer: William Gant

In episode 1, D'Angelo Barksdale is seen in court for the murder of Pooh in one of the Barksdale drug towers. The two main witnesses are maintenance man William Gant and security worker Nakeesha Lyles. The Barksdales successfully intimidate Lyles. However, Gant testifies and pays the price as, despite the charge being beaten, the Barksdale crew wish to send a message so Bird murders him in a later episode.

Answer: Pushes a mop and bucket, pretending to be a cleaner

Bodie is picked up by the police and taken to a detention centre after a shakedown in the Pit. Despite being severly beaten, he manages to escape by pretending to be a cleaner. He then hitchhikes back from the country to the Pit.

Answer: A pit beef sandwich with horseradish and some tater salad

Wee-Bey is probably the highest soldier in the Barksdale organisation (only under Avon and Stringer). After season 1's operation against the crew is successful, Wee-Bey admits to most of the murders (including some he didn't commit). During the interview, he says he will admit to more for a pit sandwich and more tater salad.

Incidentally, the first one he admits to after the food is William Gant.

Answer: The Great Gatsby

D'Angelo, after receiving a 20-year prison stretch, becomes disillusioned with the gangster lifestyle, resenting that he had no other choice but to join his uncle's crew. In the prison book club, they discuss the character of Gatsby and how he tries to hide his past but ultimately can never escape, mirroring D'Angelo's struggle.

Answer: The Greeks' FBI mole informs of Frank's potential police co-operation.

Season 2 revolves around the docks and the working class Stevedores. Frank Sobotka is their union leader and throughout the season gets deeply entwined with the Greeks' illegal smuggling operation. After his son and nephew become involved, with drastic consequences for Ziggy (he killed Glekas), Frank goes for a final meeting with the Greeks to see if they can help.

However, they have been tipped off about his potential co-operation with Baltimore police, so they kill him.

Answer: Being a parasite to society

McNulty and Bubbles track down Omar to provide a testimony that would help convict Bird for the murder of citizen William Gant. During season 2, during the trial, he is cross-examined by Maurice Levy who questions his profession of robbing drug dealer and calls him a parasite. Omar suitably replies, "Just like you. I got the shotgun, you got the briefcase. It's all in the game."
Also, Omar combines a tie with a Hawaiian Warriors tracksuit for his court appearance.

Answer: Old Face Andre

Old Face Andre runs a convenience store that is actually a front for Marlo Stanfield's drug operation. In season 4, Omar and Renaldo steal a stash from him, causing him to be indebted to Marlo. When meeting with Marlo in the car shop to explain the situation, Marlo shows his ruthless nature by taking Old Face Andre's ring as part of his repayment for the lost drugs.

Answer: His friend Lil Kevin's body being taken out of the vacants

Bodie is a notable drug dealer who plays an important role in seasons 1 to 4. In season 4, he becames annoyed about Marlo Stanfield's takeover of the Baltimore drug trade. When his friend Lil Kevin is pulled out of a vacant house, Bodie flips out and lashes out at a police car. This shows how the depth of Bodie's character has developed during the show.

Answer: Steals from Namond's stash

Kenard is one of the youngest members of Namond and his crew. Despite this he has a lot of confidence and front, leading to him stealing from Namond when he is delegated to take the drugs home and prepare them from the street. Kenard later rises to prominence as he kills Omar Little in season 5.

Answer: Taking part in a debate

Namond Brice is the son of Wee Bey, one of the most feared gangsters of Baltimore. After his progress in the special class at Edward Tilghman middle school, Bunny Colvin takes a shine to him. Namond bemoans that he has no chance to escape the street lifestyle as he doesn't have the heart for it but is pushed in to it by his forceful mother De'Londa. Colvin sees this and visits Wee Bey in prison, asking him if he can adopt Namond and give him a better life; he agrees.

In season 5, we see Namond has moved away from the street and is participating in a debate.
