Answer: Using fake money

Lovable addict Bubbles takes part in many scams over the five seasons, including the copper house, hook lift technique, stealing from an ambulance and so on. However, in episode 1 we witness him using coffee stained printed money to buy heroin from the pit.

After a drinking session, Carver, Herc and Prez decide to head up to the projects, frustrated by the passive nature of the wiretap method. They try to intimidate the occupants and Prez ends up blinding a boy by gun-bucking him for sitting on his car. A torrent of abuse from the towers then reins down forces the trio to flee.

Answer: No-Heart Anthony

In episode 4 the police attempt to get a back story for Omar Little in order to build up intelligence in the Barksdale detail. While in the patrol car with Kima, Bubbles tells the story of his brother, No-Heart Anthony, who shot himself when being chased by police but survived with a minimal contact wound, hence the new name. Kima has never heard of him yet but McNulty later in the episode is familiar with his story which excites Bubbles.

Answer: Prez

Prez is only an in-house officer pending the outcome of his grand jury trial over the Kevin Johnston incident. Lester involves him heavily on the wiretap, having him monitor all the pager numbers and, to everyone's surprise including his own, he successfully solves the code, providing a major breakthrough.

Answer: Bird

Omar Little's quest to get revenge on the Barksdale crew anyway possible leads him to becoming an informant to Baltimore police. He tells them that the witness murdered earlier in the season, William Gant, was killed by Bird. The team arrests him in a great scene involving Bubbles, Sydnor and Freamon, and the rest of the team providing back-up.

McNulty notices Stringer Bell in a car and decides to trail him in order to try and get some information about the major players in the Barksdale organisation. Surprisingly, they end up at a macroeconomic class at Baltimore City Community College. Here is one of the instances where we see Stringer wishing to run the gangster empire as more of a business as opposed to Avon's methods.

Avon Barksdale appears to be a very elusive character in the early parts of the season. Due to his position at the top, he is never involved with drugs or any illegal activities and for awhile the team doesn't even have a photo of him. However, Lester Freamon goes to an old boxing gym and manages to find an old Golden Gloves poster of him.

Answer: Savino

After Orlando is arrested for buying cocaine from an undercover officer, he assists the police in the Barksdale operation to try and save himself. This leads to him arranging a meeting to buy drugs from the Barksdale with a wiretap and Kima present. The Barskdale enforcer Savino is the one who drives them to the meet. Also, he turns up the radio when Kima tries to relay her location to the police through the wire, showing his street-smart nature.

Answer: Setting off his car alarm to surprise him

They use information garnered from D'Angelo Barksdale's interview and track Wee-Bey down to Philadelphia. Then, knowing his unpredictability and violence, they get him out of house by setting off his car alarm. They know he won't be ready for the police so it makes his arrest easier.

Answer: "Nicely done"

During the trial in episode 1 when D'Angelo Barksdale is cleared of murder due to the Barksdale crews interference, McNulty tells Stringer Bell, "Nicely done" as he leaves the courthouse. This phrase is repeated but vice versa in the final episode, marking the end of the assignment.
