Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In season two, what was the source of the feud between police Major Valchek and union leader Frank Sobotka?

Answer: A stained glass window

Stan Valchek and Frank Sobotka both attended the same church. Valchek had collected money from police officers and firemen to have a custom stained glass window made featuring the police and firemen installed in the church. When he arrived with the window, he discovered that Sobotka had beaten him to it with a stained glass window depicting the dock workers.
2. How did Detective McNulty get the murder of the woman he pulled out of the harbor assigned to Colonel Rawl's unit in season two?

Answer: He studied the currents to prove that the body was dumped in the water in the Baltimore city limits.

Detective McNulty recovered the body in the Baltimore County waters, but he wanted to make sure the murder was assigned to Baltimore city to get back at his old boss for assigning him to harbor duty. He mapped out the currents and determined the body had been tossed in the water within the city limits. Rawls tried unsuccessfully to get the Coast Guard or county police to take the murder so that he wouldn't have an unsolved murder on his records.
3. In season two, who discovered the bodies of thirteen women in a shipping container?

Answer: Beadie Russell

Port Authority Officer Beadie Russell had stopped to check the container when she noticed that it wasn't locked, and behind a false wall, she found the bodies of thirteen young women. It was determined that they had suffocated. It was initially thought that the air pipe to their storage space had been accidentally crushed when the container was being stored, but Detective McNulty realized that it had been deliberately hammered shut, thus making it a murder case.
4. What was the purpose of the police detail set up by Major Valchek in season two?

Answer: To investigate union leader Frank Sobotka

Major Valchek was bitter that Frank Sobotka had beaten him to installing a stained glass window at the church. After finding out that Sobotka had also made a donation of several thousand dollars, Valchek decided to go after Sobotka. He had Acting Commissioner Burrell organize a task force to investigate Sobotka since Valchek knew the union didn't have that kind of money lying around.
5. In season two, whom did Detective McNulty ask Bubbles to locate so that he could testify in court against Bird?

Answer: Omar Little

After his boyfriend Brandon had been killed in season one, Omar Little had provided the police information on Avon Barksdale's crew. He told them that Bird had been the one who killed William Gant, the witness who testified against D'Angelo Barksdale. Now that the trial was approaching, McNulty needed to find Omar, so he asked Bubbles to do so.
6. What happened to the listening device that Herc and Carver had obtained for a 48-hour trial period in season two?

Answer: It was squashed by a truck.

Herc and Carver wanted to listen to the conversations of a drug dealer so they went to buy a bug. It cost $1250 however, so they decided to take it for a test and then return it instead of buying it, with Carver having to use his credit card as security in order to do so.

Herc put the bug in a tennis ball that was placed near the drug dealer, but the dealer noticed the ball and began playing with it. It ended up in traffic where it was squashed by a large truck.
7. In season two, whom did Pryzbylewski punch in front of the police and FBI agents?

Answer: Major Valchek

Major Valchek had become angry that the focus of the detail had shifted away from Frank Sobotka, and he ordered his son-in-law Pryzbylewski "Prez" to return to his unit. When Prez tried to explain that they still had work to do, Valchek berated him, and Prez punched him. Prez was relieved of duty while he faced charges, but Daniels was able to get Valchek to back down by pointing out that there were many witnesses to the incident who would state that Valchek had instigated it.
8. How did the Greeks find out that the police were closing in on them in season two?

Answer: An FBI agent tipped them off.

Detective McNulty's friend, FBI agent Fitzhugh, had contacted FBI agent Koutris to ask for information on the Greeks. Koutris was actually working with the Greeks and kept them alerted on the police activity. Fitzhugh later realized that Koutris was the source, but because Koutris worked in the counterterrorism unit, he believed that Koutris was helping the Greeks to get information on terrorists.
9. In season two, what information did Bubbles give to McNulty and Greggs after he was arrested for stealing from an ambulance?

Answer: The Eastside dealers were working in the Westside projects.

Bubbles had called his friend, Detective Greggs, after he had been arrested for swiping drugs and other items from an ambulance. Greggs arrived with McNulty, and they told Bubbles that he needed to give them something in exchange for his freedom. He told them that the Eastside dealers were working the projects alongside the Westside dealers and that the product was good now.

He also told them about Brother Mouzone shooting one of the Eastside dealers.
10. At the end of season two, who gave the police the information they needed to close the murder cases of the fourteen women?

Answer: Sergei

Nick Sobotka had told the police that he had heard that Sergei, one of the men who worked for the Greeks, had been involved in the murders. After Bunk and Beadie showed Sergei security camera footage of him abducting the missing crewman from the Philadelphia docks, Sergei told the police that the man was killed because he had killed the women that the Greeks were smuggling into the country. Thus the police were able to close those cases.
