1. James Herriot, Siegfried Farnon and Mrs Pumphrey

Answer: All Creatures Great And Small

"All Creatures Great And Small" was essential viewing in the 1980s and Christopher Timothy as newly qualified, pre-war veterinary surgeon James Herriot coming to grips with life in Yorkshire captured the hearts of the nation.
The show was based on the books by Alf Wright, who used the pseudonym of James Herriot as he told his life story over the course of eight novels, which were made into 90 episodes for the TV show which ran from 1978 to 1990.
Mrs Pumphrey, remembered for her dog Tricki-Woo, was played by Margaretta Scott and Siegfried Farnon was played by the great Robert Hardy.
2. Teddy and Looby Loo

Answer: Andy Pandy

"Andy Pandy" was a children's show that first aired in 1950, about a marionette who wore a blue and white striped onesie (he was years ahead of fashion trends) and lived in a picnic basket.
In the show he was joined in his adventures by a teddy bear, who also lived in the picnic basket and was imaginatively named Teddy, but would never get to see the magic that was rag doll Looby Loo, who, although she too resided in the same picnic hamper, only came to life when Andy and Teddy were not around.
3. Edina Monsoon, Patsy Sone and Bubble

Answer: Absolutely Fabulous

"Absolutely Fabulous", which originally ran for 18 episodes over three seasons between 1992 and 1995, grew from a short skit on the "French And Saunders" TV sketch show.
The show starred Jennifer Saunders as drug and alcohol abusing, promiscuous PR agent Edina Monsoon and Joanna Lumley as her best friend, fashion magazine director Patsy Stone, who enjoyEd alcohol, drugs, promiscuity and shopping at Harvey Nichols even more than Edina.
Julia Sawhala played Edina's long suffering daughter Saffron and Jane Horrocks played her clueless personal assistant, Bubbles.
4. Rene Artois, Yvette Carte-Blanche and Michelle Dubois

Answer: 'Allo 'Allo!

"Allo Allo!" was a comedy set during the German occupation of France in WWII, and concerned the life of cafe owner Rene Artois, played by Gorden Kaye, and his dealings with the German troops and French Resistance, of which Michelle Dubois, played by Kirsten Cooke, is the local leader.
Also thrown into the mix are a pair of upper class English RAF pilots trying to return to England and several cafe waitresses, all of whom are in love with Rene, but none more so than Yvette Carte-Blanche, played brilliantly by Vicki Michelle.
The show ran from 1982 to 1992 and was so successful that it spawned a stage show that ran from 1986 to 1992, and was then revived in 1996 for a UK summer season and in 2007 for an Australian production.
5. Derek Owen, Morris Ransome and Lynn Harrison

Answer: Albion Market

"Albion Market" was a short lived soap opera that ran for just a year between 1985 and 1986, although as a soap opera, broadcast twice weekly, it still managed to rack up a hundred episodes.
From the outset the show was reviewed negatively by TV critics and the public stayed away so much that the show was attracting just over three million viewers, compared to an expected market of eighteen million.
David Hargreaves played market inspector Derek Owen, Noreen Kershaw played domestic goods stallholder Lynne Harrison and crockery stallholder Morris Ransome was played by Bernard Spear.
6. Missy Booth, Kaneez Paracha and Alya Nawaz

Answer: Ackley Bridge

"Ackley Bridge" began airing in 2017 and is set in Ackley Bridge school in the Yorkshire town of Ackley Bridge. It was nominated for Best Drama series at the 2019 TV Choice Awards, losing out to BBC show, "Line Of Duty".
In the show, Poppy Lee Friar plays student Missy Booth, Sunetra Sarker plays Student Support Officer, Kaneez Paracha and Maariah Hussain plays the part of pupil, Alya Nawaz.
7. Alex Drake, Ray Carling and Gene Hunt

Answer: Ashes To Ashes

"Ashes To Ashes" (2008-2010), the sequel to "Life On Mars" (2006-2007), is a show that mixes police procedural work with time travel, and although this may sound rather odd, the show has been praised by most major TV critics and attracted a regular viewing audience of seven million people.
Keeley Hawes, much loved by viewers for her portrayal of DI Lindsey Denton in "Line Of Duty" (2014-2016), plays Detective Inspector Alex Drake, Dean Andrews plays fellow officer Ray Carling and Philip Glenister plays Detective Chief Inspector Gene Hunt.
8. Right Reverend Cuthbert Hever, Venerable Henry Blunt and Reverend Mervyn Noote

Answer: All Gas and Gaiters

"All Gas and Gaiters" (1966-1971) was a very funny BBC show set in the fictional parish of St Oggs and concerned the daily life of members of the clergy.
A star studded cast included Derek Nimmo, brilliant as Reverend Mervyn Noote, the most accident prone chaplain ever; William Mervyn as the Bishop of St Oggs, the Right Reverend Cuthbert Hever; and the wonderful farcical actor, Robertson Hare as Venerable Henry Blunt, the elderly parish archdeacon who was very fond of a drink and had an eye for attractive young ladies.
The show was initially disliked by members of the clergy, but later came to be appreciated by them as it gave viewers a small glimpse into their life and is often cited today as an ecclesiastical forerunner to the political comedy "Yes, Minister" (1980-84).
9. Neville Hope, Leonard "Oz" Osborne and Barry Taylor

Answer: Auf Wiedersehen, Pet

The ITV show "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet" was a huge 1980s hit, running initially from 1983 to 1986 and recounting the adventures of a group of British tradesmen, unable to find work in UK, plying their trade in Germany.
Brilliant script writing from Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais meant that viewers felt as if they knew each character, especially Dennis, played by Tim Healy, the unofficial leader of the gang as he struggled to keep the boys in order while coping with his own divorce.
Neville Hope, always worrying about "our Brenda", was played by Kevin Whately, who would go on to star opposite John Thaw in "Inspector Morse" (1987-2000). Oz was played by Jimmy Nail, who would later co-write and star in the detective series "Spender" (1991-1993), as well as writing and starring in "Crocodile Shoes" (1997) and have a UK chart number one single with "Ain't No Doubt" (1992).
Barry Taylor was played brilliantly by Timothy Spall who would go on to star in movies such as "Nicholas Nickleby" (2002), "The Last Samurai" (2003), "Enchanted" (2007), "The King's Speech" (2010), the Harry Potter franchise from 2004 and winning a Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of artist J. M. W. Turner in "Mr. Turner" (2014).
10. Betty Slocombe, Wilberforce Humphries and Stephen Peacock

Answer: Are You Being Served?

OK, I was slightly naughty here, as the characters were rarely referred to by their first names. Instead, while working in a high class department store such as Grace Brothers, the staff used each others titles as a form of address.
Cat lover Mrs. Slocombe, with many stories about "my pussy", was played by Mollie Sugden and John Inman played the incredibly camp menswear sales assistant Mr. Humphries and overseeing these, and other characters such as Miss. Brahms, Mr. Lucas and Mr. Grainger, was supervisor, Captain Peacock, played by the great Frank Thornton.
