The second episode of "Vikings: Valhalla" opens with Leif and Freydis locked up. After Freydis says that she feels cleansed, Leif admits that they will likely be killed otherwise the Christians may burn the city. Even so, Leif tells his sister he is proud of her for exacting revenge on the man that raped and scarred her.

Answer: Harald Sigurdsson

Since he laid eyes on Freydis Eriksdottir at the docks in Kattegat, Harald Sigurdsson was enamored by her. Previously he had saved her life in the great hall after she killed the man who raped her by telling the other Vikings the action was just. At Freydis's trial she proposes a trial by combat with Olaf to prove her innocence.

However, Harald proposes that Freydis is able to stay alive under the watch of King Canute and Jarl Haakon so long as Leif Eriksson assists the Vikings on their journey to England.

In "Vikings: Valhalla" Godwin of Wessex is first advisor to King Aethelred II. As Aethelred's health deteriorates Queen Emma summons Godwin to accompany her son Edmund to command Eadric Streona to deliver troops to support England in the upcoming war with the Vikings.

Historically, Godwin was proclaimed the Earl of Wessex by King Cnut (Canute) in 1020. Around 1022 Godwin's son, Harold Godwinson, was born. His son would become King Harold II in January 1066 but just nine months later he would die at the Battle of Hastings ending Anglo-Saxon rule over England.

Ready or not, the role of king is thrust upon Edmund but he still looks up to his mother Emma and his advisor Godwin for counsel.
