Saffron would be known by several names during the short run of the series. In this episode she was first portrayed as a native woman on the poor planet. She was married to Capt. Reynolds despite him having no knowledge of it.

This was the episode where the term "Captain Tightpants", a nickname that Mal would be known by in the fandom comes from. While at the party Kaylee called the captain by that name.

Trying to protect Inara's honor, Mal accidentally challenged a native to a sword fight, which he narrowly ended up winning.

Jayne Cobb was a folk hero to the "mudders" on this very poor planet. The crew uses his fame to sneak property off the planet. Kaylee got upset with Simon after he implied that he wasn't interested in having sex with her.

Mal put four members of the crew in each of the two shuttles the Serenity had and stayed behind himself. A passing crew stumbled upon the ship and had the part he needed. They tried to kill Mal and steal the ship, but he won the fight.

Shot and lacking oxygen, Mal managed to repair the ship before passing out.

The two were kidnapped and tortured. When Zoe and the crew managed to track them down, they only had enough money to save one of the two. She bought her husband's freedom then mounted an assault to rescue Mal a few hours later.

Jubal Early, a bounty hunter, sneaks aboard the Serenity and takes out most of the crew while he searches the ship for River. Unable to find her he gets continually more upset while searching. Near the end of the episode it was revealed that River was hiding in his own ship while he was searching hers.

Jayne got a special package that included a hand made hat when the crew stopped to get their mail. Zoe and Mal got a large package that turned out to be the (presumed) dead body of a former army mate.

Eventually he wakes up and explains to them why he faked his own death.

Companions were the nice term used for a woman who offered sex for money in this series. The job was considered to be a prestigious one and offered special training to women who sought it.

Inara was a certified Companion and the brothel the Serenity crew went to help was run by a friend of hers.

Not long after saving the man the ship was stopped by an Alliance cruiser. They were all arrested and the ship seized after the government claimed they had been salvaging a vessel illegally.

Eventually after the man who was saved attacked the crew of the Alliance ship the Serenity crew was freed for helping during the attack.
