They were further surprised to find that he knew other details about the case that hadn't been made public. Then Mulder took him to the tealeaf psychic's apartment to see if he could sense anything more than Yappi had.

Bruckman then started to rant about being brought here and questioned about information he didn't think it possible he could provide. He stopped mid-sentence, though, when he saw blood in the apartment and walked to look at it before running to the bathroom to throw up.

He actually said that the victim was the one initiating the sex. Mulder asked why he was upset then, to which Bruckman replied, "Oh, sometimes it just seems that everyone's having sex except me."

Scully argued that "the human mind naturally seeks out meaningful patterns and configurations in things that don't inherently have any. Given the suggestion of a particular image, you couldn't help but see that shape somewhere. If that tank weren't there, you'd see it in a... in a rock or in a tree." With a bit of pressing, though, Mulder got her to concede that the tank did look like a fat little white Nazi storm trooper.

Mulder was chastising him for having such disdain for his abilities, and Bruckman asked him if he'd want to know how he'd die. Mulder said he would, but Bruckman replied, "No, you don't" instead of telling him.

Bruckman looked at it briefly, then said bluntly, "It's ugly. Next?" Mulder kept him there for a while, going through various objects, but apparently determined that Bruckman's psychic abilities only extended to seeing how people would die.

Scully explained that she'd traced the symbol on the key chain to a company when Bruckman interrupted to tell the agents the company owner's address, marital status, income, and more. They were amazed that he'd gotten all of that from the key chain, but Bruckman said he'd sold the man an insurance policy a few months prior.

Driving to another body, Bruckman told Mulder, "Not that it's any of my business, but autoerotic asphyxiation is a really undignified way to die." Mulder asked why Bruckman would say that, and he brushed it off, saying "Never mind. Forget I said anything." With Mulder's weakness for pornography, though, it seems likely Bruckman was referring to what he'd foreseen would be Mulder's death!

I became so obsessed with that idea that I gradually became capable of seeing the specifics of everybody's death."
