Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What publication did Robert Modell pick up at the grocery store checkout line?

Answer: The Enquirer

The front-page illustration looked like the monster from "The Host" - a huge man-worm parasite! Modell looked at the article for a moment and laughed. Then he saw the bureau car outside and said "let's get this show on the road" as he pulled the flap on the jacket of the man in front of him, revealing the letters "FBI" and initiating his own arrest.
2. What color did Modell claim the officer's uniform was?

Answer: cerulean blue

He kept talking about cerulean blue being like a cool breeze. Then the truck coming down the street (later revealed to read "Cerulean" on the side of the cab) stopped being visible and the officer pulled out in front of it. The truck crashed into the cop car and the officer got out of the car to unlock Modell's handcuffs before dying from his injuries.
3. What did Modell leave written on the car?

Answer: ronin

He left it written backwards: "nin or". Mulder flipped the slide around, though, and saw that it read "ronin", informing Scully and Agent Burst that a ronin is "a samurai without a master."
4. The classified ad Mulder saw in every magazine covering the time span of the murders read what?

Answer: "I solve problems."

After that phrase were the letters "osu". Mulder looked them up in a Japanese dictionary to see that the word meant "to push". They concluded that Pusher was advertising with that classified listing.
5. What did Modell call Mulder during their first phone call?

Answer: G-Man

Mulder didn't comment on it at the time, but afterwards, he affectionately called Scully "G-Woman".
6. Scully and Mulder had the police technicians redial the last phone number that had been called from the pay phone. What was the number for?

Answer: golf club

The agents quickly organized to get to the golf club and arrest Modell. However, he realized they were there before they revealed themselves and was ready for them.
7. What did Modell make Agent Collins do?

Answer: light himself on fire

He was dousing himself with gasoline when Scully, Mulder, and Agent Burst found him. He lit the lighter as he begged the other agents to stop him, but before they did anything he lit himself aflame. Scully used a fire extinguisher on him and Mulder tackled him with his coat, but he'd already suffered severe burns. Mulder ran to Modell's car to arrest him and found him chanting "light up."
8. How much did Modell bet Mulder he would get off in court?

Answer: $5

After the judge overlooked Modell's confession to release him, Modell approached Mulder in the hallway, saying "I believe you owe me five dollars." Mulder smiled, then pulled out his wallet. As he got the money, he told Modell his shoelace was untied. Modell looked down and Mulder said, "Made you look. How do you do it?" Modell walked off without getting his money.
9. What had Modell's first choice for military service been?

Answer: Navy Seal

Mulder correctly guessed that Modell had tried for the Navy Seals, then the Army Special Services Green Berets, but washed out of both. Scully told him that Modell had later tried to get into the FBI, but had failed the psych test.
10. Scully told Mulder that she believed Modell had murdered the people, but she was looking for "an explanation a little more mundane than ______."

Answer: the whammy

Mulder had previously said that Modell had "put the whammy" on the judge. Scully replied dryly, "Please explain to me the scientific aspect of the whammy." While she seemed willing to concur that Modell was responsible, Scully was still trying to figure out a scientific explanation of how.
