"X-Files" - "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" III Quiz

Bruckman got distracted trying to figure out what kind of pie it was, going from coconut crème to lemon meringue to banana crème, but lost the vision before he could tell Mulder how the killer would kill him.

She waited quite a while before submitting to her curiosity and finally caved in and asked the question. His answer probably didn't give her much clarity, though!

She asked if he meant as in "Chantilly Lace", which he confirmed. She said it was just a coincidence, and he asked, "If coincidences are just coincidences, why do they feel so contrived?" She told him, "That's one to pose to the psychic philosopher."

Answer: red tulips

He told Mulder the only dream he ever had was of himself lying naked in a bed of red tulips. His body would decay as he realized he was dead and just before his soul dissipated, he'd wake up.

Answer: lung cancer

Bruckman told him he wouldn't, which visibly relieved Havez, who then pulled out a cigarette. Bruckman lit it for him using Mrs. Lowe's lighter, which reminded him of the vision he'd had of her dog eating entrails.

Answer: "Was that not enough of a tip?"

The killer was amazed by his good luck, that the agents had brought Buckman right to him. He wasn't quite ready to kill him, though, because he still didn't know why he killed people. When he asked, though, Bruckman told him that he did it because he was a homicidal maniac.

Answer: women's intuition

The detective and Mulder were pleased that they'd found some good evidence: the killer had left a salad fork stuck in the victim's eye that they figured they'd get a clean print off of. Scully, meanwhile, noticed the silk fiber on her finger, remembered running into the bellhop's tray, realized that the fiber was from the lace lining, and deduced that the bellhop was the killer.

Answer: no

It was just as Bruckman had described, except Mulder realized what was to come after he stepped in the pie. He was able to block the killer's knife and struggle with him, suffering only a minor cut to the hand. That really only delayed things, though, as he ended up lying on the floor with the killer on top of him poised to stab him.

Answer: Scully

Scully got on the service elevator by accident, which brought her to the kitchen just in time; she shot the killer just before he could stab Mulder. As he fell off Mulder's prone body, the killer exclaimed, "Hey! That's not supposed to happen."

Answer: Clyde Bruckman

Bruckman went back to his apartment, where he left a note in the hall for Scully offering her his neighbor's dog. When the agents arrived, Bruckman had taken pills and tied a bag around his head. Just as he'd foreseen, Scully held his hand with gentle compassion and a tear rolled down his cheek under the plastic. Later that night, Scully was watching TV in her apartment with her new dog on the couch with her and an ad came up for Yappi.

She picked up the phone and threw it at the television in frustration.
