Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Coldwind Farm
Answer: Torment Creek
The Coldwind Farms realm, can be a great place for a stealthy Survivor or a clever Killer because regardless of map, the area will likely contain a significant amount of cornfield which, unlike most other environmental obstacles, will shift and rustle with movement.
This means that players on either side can use the fields to their advantage in both chases and pursuit. Torment Creek is known for its old silo building which has a fifty-fifty chance of being home to the basement stairs and, typically, a generator.
2. Haddonfield
Answer: Lampkin Lane
Inspired by John Carpenter's "Halloween", this is the stomping ground of Michael Myers (known in the game as The Shape). This map is characterized by a road cutting across a subdivision of houses, some with basement areas and some with two stories. The Strode House, always in the middle of the street, always contains the basement and, often, a second-floor generator. Because of this rare basement situation, Lampkin Lane is one of the few maps not to contain a Killer shack.
3. Gideon Meat Plant
Answer: The Game
Based on the meat packing plant from the original "Saw" film, this map was introduced alongside The Pig as a playable Killer and Danny Glover's Detective David Tapp as a playable Survivor option. The map is a complicated one with two floors-- an open top area and a narrow warehouse area beneath (containing the bathroom from the original "Saw").
The basement is always found next to the bathroom. In this map, if a generator is completed, it will open up an adjacent warehouse door, creating new paths on the map to evade capture.
4. Hawkins National Laboratory
Answer: The Underground Complex
This map, developed based on the "Stranger Things" NETFLIX show and accompanying DLC, is similar to The Game (and Gideon Meat Plant) in the sense that it's completely indoors and features two floors-worth of map space. That said, much of this map is split out over upper lab catwalks and a separate office area. Like The Game, again, this map's generators can often open mechanical doors.
The map also features lab space containing the rift to the Upside-Down as seen in the show.
5. Red Forest
Answer: The Temple of Purgation
Although Red Forest first appeared alongside The Huntress in the game's first year of play (with the map known as Mother's Dwelling), its second variant, The Temple of Purgation, was released with The Plague. This map has a couple of different versions which feature a hulking temple structure often containing a generator but also, potentially, containing the basement (if it's not in the Killer's shack). If the generator in the temple is completed, it opens panels in the walls within.
6. MacMillan Estate
Answer: Coal Tower
The MacMillan Estate is one of the realms to be fleshed out upon release of the game with Coal Tower being a typical map out of five in this blue-tinged, woodsy zone. Coal Tower is likely best known for its warehouse building, often at one side of the map, which contains two floors, the top of which always contains a generator and the bottom of which shares a basement staircase chance with the Killer's shack.
The only other map in this realm with a two-storey building is the Ironworks of Misery.
7. Crotus Prenn Asylum
Answer: Father Campbell's Chapel
Introduced alongside Kate Denson and The Clown as a playable Survivor/Killer duo, Father Campbell's Chapel was the first new Crotus Prenn Asylum map to be released since the game launch; the realm only ever had the large asylum itself in the Disturbed Ward. Father Campbell's does indeed come with a chapel though, in which there is always a generator posted on the second floor. Additionally, the map features a Killer's shack and a sideshow area for a travelling circus (complete with caravan and zombie horse).
8. Léry's Memorial Institute
Answer: Treatment Theatre
A map of narrow rooms and corridors and vault windows aplenty, Léry's Memorial Institute can be a tough map depending on the Killer (both for the Killer and the Survivors) due to its makeup. There are two defining aspects of this map: an oft-central treatment theatre with a second floor which, when its generator is completed, can open up the area, and an office area with a generator (most times) and obstacles. Both have the opportunity to contain the basement stairs.
9. Autohaven Wreckers
Answer: Blood Lodge
The Autohaven Wreckers realm is one that's been quite fleshed out since the game launched and each of its maps, while keeping the same general theme and obstacles, is quite distinct. Blood Lodge is known for having a large two-storey lodge on one end of its map and a Killer's shack on the other.
This map's size is usually a concern. While one won't see from end to end, there's a large, open area between the two structures, often containing generators, low obstacles, and pallets, that make maneuvering through the area quite difficult for Survivors.
10. Backwater Swamp
Answer: The Pale Rose
The Backwater Swamp, introduced alongside The Hag, is a boggy marsh realm with maps that lead players through low swamps surrounded by a reedy, higher perimeter. Survivors can hide in reed bushes and behind moldy wreckage, but on a map like the Pale Rose, there are plenty of other landmarks (including a pier, a tugboat, the Killer's shack, and a large boat that goes by the name The Pale Rose which acts as a 'crow bomb'.
There's always a generator on the Pale Rose and, when activated, it sounds a horn.
