Zidane hides behind the staircase while Beatrix mutters this line to herself.

In an Active Time Event, we see Mario bragging to two ambitious kids in the slums about his Namingway card. The brother and sister say he will be able to challenge anyone with it and, lo and behold, he is Zidane's second challenger in the tournament. If Zidane loses or cannot acquire it, he can still get from near the couch in the center of Kuja's Desert Palace.

We can see both parts of the Cat's Eye Active Time Event while in town. The depressed brother of the mayor works at the inn and tells the cat his troubles, not wanting to be part of shipping out the Black Mages to Alexandria, but having trouble staying in business.

He is asleep on the job when Zidane arrives, but he notices Vivi in the back. Zidane thinks he is checking Garnet out, but the man later wonders if Vivi is created as the same prototype as the Black Mages, wondering what he should if he is the same model.

The gold frog is one frog Quina can each in Qu's Marsh and it counts as such. But eating it is not smart because it can increase the number of frogs in the swamp rapidly through breeding with male or female adults. When Quina catches 99 frogs, he can challenge Master Quan and get his Ultima weapon.

Eiko is sedated with sleeping weed. But Amarant mysteriously appears from over the Eidolion Wall. He says he won't work with someone low enough to hold a girl up as a bribe for the pendant. Then, he has her leave to "level the playing field" and challenges Zidane one-on-one.

This display of strength, combined with his eliminating the Mist from its tree source, and his mercy, all impress Amarant to the point that he wants to join them.
