Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following is NOT true about the storyline of "The Ultime Doom"?

Answer: After having killed the Spider Mastermind, Doomguy went to the Earth and kept fighting there.

First of all, maybe for the sake of its name, you really cannot see the picture of "Fortress of Mystery" at the intermission screen until you unlock it. Secondly, the whereabouts of Episode 4 are not known, yet from the level names and story after Episode 4, we can predict that it is somewhere in or near Hell. Thirdly, at the very beginning Doomguy was sent to Phobos, and then Episode 1 started.

After escaping Phobos, he found himself in Deimosi and Episode 2 started. Lastly, it is true that he went to the Earth but then he went back to get revenge on the monsters who killed his pet rabbit "Daisy" (then he went back to Earth again and fought there).
2. Here are some statements about changes in the game whilst porting to PSX is given. Which of them are correct? I. Lighting and transparent walls were refined. II. Pace of the monsters and some of the guns' firing were slowed down. III. The splash damage from rockets and barrels got reduced.

Answer: I & II

While porting to PSX, there had to be some deductions due to RAM limitations of PSX. So, monsters and weapons got slowed down, even some monsters got deleted from the game such as Icon of Sin and Arch-ville. To make that up, they refined lightings and added some cool-looking transparent walls. Also they added a brand-new monster called Nightmare Demon. But, splash damage didn't get reduced. On the contrary, it increased.
3. Some items and map numbers are given below. Which of them are matched INCORRECTLY? (Please note that given maps are the maps of given game in the same row.) I. First BFG900 of "Doom 2" ---> Map 8 II. First soulsphere of "The Ultimate Doom" ---> E1M3 III. First plasma gun of "TNT Evolution" ---> Map 5 IV. First megasphere among all of the games ---> "Doom 2" Map 6 V. First rocket launcher of "The Plutonia Experiment" ---> Map 2

Answer: II, III & V

First soulsphere of "The Ultimate Doom" can be found in E1M2.
First plasma gun of "TNT Evolution" can be found in Map 7.
First rocket launcher of "The Plutonia Experiment" can be found in Map 1.
4. Which of the following speedrun types does not include "getting %100 kills"?

Answer: UV speed

UV speed contains finishing the map as fast as possible. In other types given, you have to kill every monster (except Lost Souls) at least once.
5. BFG9000 is the strongest weapon in the game if used properly. What is the damage point can BFG9000's tracers can give at maximum?

Answer: 3480

There are 40 tracers following the plasma bell. Every of them can do 87 damage at most. That means 87 * 40 = 3480. Also, plasma bell can do 800 damage at max. So the whole BFG shot can do 4280 damage at max.
6. When you have 85% health, picking up a medikit will raise it to the 110%.

Answer: False

Medikits give 25% health but they have an upper limit. They cannot raise your health above 100%.
7. Which one is NOT true for the Map 11 of "The Plutonia Experiment" called "Hunted"?

Answer: You are obliged to fall into the arch-ville trap at the end.

There are two teleporters at the very end. While one of them is a trap and makes you start the next level with little weaponry and health, the other one is a regular exit teleport.
8. Which of the following is NOT a feature of Revenants?

Answer: No more than two rocket shots are needed to kill them.

They actually fire missiles that can chase you and they are called "seeking missiles". They are one of the fastest moving and firing monsters in the game, which makes them really dangerous while wandering around in groups. Despite having relatively low HP, it may take more than two rockets to kill them since a rocket can damage 148 HP minimum (148 plus 148 equals to 296, which is smaller than 300).
9. What is the difference between the very first "Doom" game that has been released in 1993 and "The Ultimate Doom"?

Answer: The fourth episode is not present in the first "Doom" game.

The only difference between the two games is the fourth episode gameplay-wise. Everything else is intact. iD Software decided to release the game again with a slightly different name and with an extra episode that also contributes to the storyline (coming back to the hell for a revenge, between Episode 3 and Hell on Earth).
10. There is a second game that was ported to PSX called "Final Doom for PSX". Which statement is FALSE about this game?

Answer: "TNT Evolution" part starts with the map called "Human BBQ".

Sadly, same limitations was applied to that game too. Additionally, Spider Mastermind got deleted along with arch-ville and Icon of Sin. Various maps from three different games (thirteen maps from "Master Levels", 11 maps from "TNT Evolution", six maps from "The Plutonia Experiment") were ported and maps were arranged so that no map from other game stars before the previous game's maps are finished. But, first "TNT Evolution" map is "System Control".
