Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these games was designed by the rock group KISS?

Answer: Psycho Circus: the Nightmare Child

The game featured music and cover artwork contributed by the band. In the long history of KISS, they have been the subject of countless items of memorabilia, including a comic book and a pinball game.
2. Which game featured an announcer yelling the title during some battle scenes?

Answer: Soul Fighter

The game narrator, who could be heard in a few scenes and made crucial announcements, would blurt out "Soul fighter!" during fight scenes. At least that made a bit of sense. It also happened during the player's journey through a swamp, which didn't help much.
3. Of the following games, which did not appear in an arcade version prior to its release for the console?

Answer: Carrier

"Carrier" was a sci-fi/horror survival game. All the others appeared in the arcade before they were released as home games.
4. Which game was designed as a simulator in its first edition, and did not include fighting capabilities until its sequels?

Answer: Aero Wings

"Aero Wings" featured beautiful graphics, and required players to pilot a plane through a series of challenging routes. It was one of the earliest aviation games for the system. There were no dogfight capabilities until the follow-up titles.
5. Which of the following games did not require in-game characters to do something that would be considered a crime in real life?

Answer: V-Rally 2

"V-Rally 2" was a racing game. All the others involved characters doing something that would be illegal in real life. "Jet Grind Radio" featured graffiti writers who fought with the police; "Vigilante 8" was a graphic shooting title; and "Who Wants to Beat Up a Millionaire" was a parody of a popular game show which allowed contestants to take imaginary revenge on the rich via their fists. "V-Rally 2" was the only one mentioned in which the character had to do something nonviolent and legal to win.
6. Which of these games was not based on a manga, movie or television series?

Answer: Space Channel 5

"Space Channel 5" was a game in which the main character was a singer. It was the only one of the titles listed to not have been based on anything else. "Sword of the Berserk" was based on an animated series, as was "Record of Lodoss War." "102 Dalmatians" was a movie.
7. In which of these games did the player use a robot which had developed a mind of its own and sought to escape from its captors?

Answer: Slave Zero

"Slave Zero" took a nod from the plot of "Blade Runner." The player piloted a robot which had started to 'think for itself' and desired to get away from its human masters.
8. Which of these games required the player to battle swarms of alien spaceships?

Answer: Incoming

"Hidden and Dangerous" and "Headhunter" were spy/combat games. "Gunbird 2" was an anime character game. "Incoming" had the player fend off clouds of alien attack ships.
9. Which of the following games was based on a successful series of novels?

Answer: Dragon Riders: Chronicle of Pern

"Dragon Riders" was based on the Pern series by writer Anne McCaffrey. The other games were original titles, not based on anything else.
10. Which game required the main character to take part in a fictional "Olympics" that contained only one sport--destroying things?

Answer: Bomberman Online

Bomberman is a very popular character in Japan. He wears a red bodysuit and runs around throwing bombs at everyone and everything. In "Bomberman Online," the character took part in a tournament, to become the champion of the hero's hometown.
