Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the first course in the Star Cup?

Answer: Wario Stadium

The order of courses in this cup is as follows: Wario Stadium, Sherbet Land, Royal Raceway, Bowser's Castle. Wario Stadium is one of the longest courses in the game, twisting and turning in order to fill most of a rectangular stadium.
2. Peach and Yoshi are both in which weight class?

Answer: Light

Peach, Yoshi, and Toad are all light weights. They have good acceleration, and do not sink much when straying off course into grass or sand. They can be easily knocked aside by medium or heavy weight racers with ease, though.
3. In Sherbet Land, which is not a hazard?

Answer: Snowmen

Penguins like to walk around in circles or slide across the ice along this course. If you hit one, you'll be sent spinning. The course is made of ice, and is extremely slippery (sluggish turning). You could slip right off into the freezing cold lake in the middle of the course. If this happens, you'll be rescued, but in an ice ball, making it take longer than normal to get back up to speed. Snowmen are found only in Frappe Snowland.
4. What creatures inhabit Bowser's Castle?

Answer: Thwomps

Thwomps are quite annoying. They fly over head and slam down on the track, or slide back and forth to make your life difficult. If you run into one, you'll spin out of control and be set back a bit, but the real danger is being crushed, which will leave you stationary for far longer, allowing other players to pass you easily.
5. If Yoshi and Peach collide at high speeds (head-to-head), what happens?

Answer: They both spin out

Although there is a decreased chance of it, if two racers of the same weight class collide, there is a chance that both will spin out. If this is done during a battle, then both players will lose a balloon.
6. Instead of water, Bowser's castle uses what?

Answer: Lava

Just like all his other castles in previous games, Bowser has his course surrounded with lava. It functions the same way water does. If you fall in, Lakitu will come and rescue you, and you'll be set behind a bit.
7. Which is not something you'll find on Royal Raceway?

Answer: A loop-de-loop

The large jump is one of Royal Raceway's primary attractions. It takes three booster strips and launches you across a lake. The landing is narrow with steep walls on both sides. If you hit the cliffs, you'll tumble down and lose time. If you hit the course dead on and press the jump button (R) you'll bounce high into the air again.

You can also find Princess Peach's castle from "Super Mario 64" off to the right after the jump. In this recreation is a bridge up to the front doors.

There are no loop-de-loops in "Mario Kart 64".
8. Which of the Star Cup stages does not have a jump?

Answer: Sherbet Land

Wario Stadium has a memorable jump that crosses the course under it, meaning that if you fall, instead of Lakitu rescuing you, you just start up again with a bit of a setback.

Royal Raceway has the large jump that uses booster strips, that crosses the lake.

Bowser's Castle has a small jump at the end of the twisting tower (and another right after it).

Sherbet Land is all relatively the same altitude (although the cave dips down a bit).
9. Every character has their own course. Which cup is Yoshi's course in?

Answer: Special Cup

The characters and their corresponding tracks are as follows:

Mushroom Cup
Luigi - Luigi's Raceway

Flower Cup
Toad - Toad's Turnpike
Mario - Mario Raceway

Star Cup
Wario - Wario Stadium
Peach - Royal Raceway
Bowser - Bowser's Castle

Special Cup
DK - DK's Jungle Parkway
Yoshi - Yoshi's Valley

There are eight other courses (making a total of sixteen) that are not affiliated with any characters.
10. At the end of a grand prix, the awards are given out. On which track is this done?

Answer: Royal Raceway

At the end of a grand prix, the top three contestants are seen on pedestals on the bridge if front of Peach's castle. There is a celebration with fireworks, balloons, and confetti, and, of course, your trophy. If you place fourth, then a different ending will show.

This ending shows your character leaving over a hill away from the awards, followed by a bomb. You'll hear an explosion, and your character's sound of distress.
