Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first mode you may notice is the Ladder match where you face ten opponents, finishing off with the same three characters every time. Which one of these competitors is NOT one of them?

Answer: Blaze

Blaze is the boss of "Mortal Kombat: Armageddon". Fight 8 is always against the sorcerer, Sheng Tsung, who has the ability to steal health from you and morph into other Mortal Kombat characters. Then, Fight 9 is either Goro or Kintaro. Both of these are of the Shokan race and have four arms.

The final battle is against Shao Kahn, who is very overpowered. If you are able to win all 10 fights, you will be treated to an ending specially created for your character. There is also a Tag Ladder mode, which is the same thing, except fights are two-on-two instead of one-on-one.
2. Another mode is Test Your Luck, which is a normal one-on-one fight, with a variety of changes to the battle decided by the reels on a slot machine. What will a reel called 'Lucky!' give you?

Answer: Kurrency

If you fill all reels with 'Lucky!', you earn an Achievement/Trophy called 'Luck Be a Lady'. Other examples are 'Floor of Flame', where bursts of fire come out from the floor at random intervals, and 'Zombie Kombat', where the loser will explode when defeated.
3. A Klassic mode from previous "Mortal Kombat" games makes a return to "Mortal Kombat 9". It's known as Test Your...what?

Answer: Might

Test Your Might consists of increasing your character's Might to a point where they are able to smash through increasingly harder targets from pine boards to diamond. Test Your Sight makes you watch a "Mortal Kombat" icon as it is hidden amongst a group of containers and switches places. Test Your Strike allows you to increase your Might into a small area within which you can smash the middle object amongst objects set in a square shape. Test Your Speed does not exist.
4. Story Mode retells the original "Mortal Kombat" trilogy on an alternative timeline. It starts with Raiden sending a message to his past self with the message, 'He must win'. Who is this referring to?

Answer: Shao Kahn

The reason behind this is that Shao Kahn has illegally invaded Earthrealm and Raiden believes the Elder Gods need to punish him for doing so. So, Raiden, after being brutally attacked by Shao Khan like his future self warned him about, is revived and prepares himself for one last battle with Shao Kahn.
5. How many chapters does the story last?

Answer: Sixteen

Once all chapters are completed, Quan Chi becomes a playable character. Each chapter follows one specific character at a time, starting with Johnny Cage and finishing with Raiden.
6. In the PS3 version of "Mortal Kombat", how many playable characters are there (excluding DLC)?

Answer: 28

The Xbox 360 version has the same roster as its PS3 counterpart, only the PS3 has the exclusive character, Kratos from the "God of War" series. The Xbox 360 version was also rumoured to have an exclusive character of its own such as Marcus Phoenix from "Gears of War" or Master Chief from the "Halo" series, but this never happened.
7. Which of these Klassic "Mortal Kombat" characters is unable to perform a Klassic Fatality?

Answer: Johnny Cage

The Klassic Fatality can only be executed when Sub Zero, Reptile or Scorpion are wearing their DLC costumes. Johnny Cage can only perform the standard three Fatalities and a Babality.
8. Which one of these stages does NOT have a Stage Fatality?

Answer: Coliseum

Subway makes the loser's face grind against the oncoming train, is thrown back and hits a train moving in the opposite direction. Hell has the loser's face stuck in the fiery depths of Hell, exposing their skull. The back of their head is then stomped back into the fire. Chamber of the Flame actually give you a choice of Stage Fatalities: being burned alive, having your entire body being chopped into pieces and having the lower half of your body squashed, then the upper body, finishing with the severed head.
9. The toughest mode within the game is the Challenge Tower: 300 challenges devised by the Elder Gods to see how dedicated a warrior you are. If you can surpass all 300 challenges (or skip them all if you have enough Kurrency), what is your reward?

Answer: Mileena's Fleshpit Costume

The final Challenge is called 'End Game', where you choose a character to take on multiple challengers with a single life bar. The reward for that single challenge is 10,000 Kurrency, but costs 50,000 Kurrency to skip it.
10. All of the Kurrency earned can be spent in the Krypt, where you can get secret Fatalities, environment art, character art, music, design and alternate costumes. What else could you get?

Answer: A fright

While the "Mortal Kombat" series is well known for its bloody content, also it has several hidden secrets. One in this game is a pink goblin-like creature that acts a screamer while searching the Krypt. You have been warned...
