Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverley Academy Quiz

Nancy uses the name of Becca Sawyer. In this modern day and age, students will be likely to look up someone's name to discover more about them, especially through social networks. If someone were to look up Nancy's name, they would discover she is a detective and her cover would be immediately blown. During the game Corine Myers will comment that she looked up Becca online and could not find her YR page. Nancy quickly suggests she took it down for personal reasons.

Prudence Rutherford made her appearance in a few earlier Nancy Drew games, such as 'Secret of The Scarlet Hand", "Danger by Design" and "The Phantom of Venice". She can only be heard on the phone, most notably in "The Phantom of Venice". Heather McKay is the assistant to fashion designer Minette in "Danger by Design". Bess Marvin is one of Nancy's best friends.

Answer: She was locked in a closet

Danielle Hayes was locked in a closet at night. She suffered from claustrophobia, so she had a very bad panic attack. The short video shows her being locked in the closet, desperately pleading for someone to let her out. The closet is located near the rec room at the academy. Goods for the snack shop are being stored there.

Later in the game Nancy will find out that another student Megan Vargas had to go home after an allergic reaction. She is allergic to nuts and someone had apparently tampered with her food, causing the allergic reaction. Her parents made her come home immediately.

During the game Nancy will have to climb the oak tree to follow a squirrel who has taken a token that she had found. She will have to watch closely to see what branches the squirrel uses to climb to the top. If you step on the wrong branch, Nancy will fall down the tree.

Answer: Library Assistant

Corine is the library assistant. This will come in handy later in the game as Nancy tries to find the key to the Special Collections cabinet. Corine will give it to you if you complete her orthographic views assignment. To achieve this, you will have to look at the four structures in the folder she gives you and then select the top, front and side view of each structure.

Nancy (or rather Becca) is assigned to serve as the snack shop boss. This mini game involves making snacks for fellow students by selecting various ingredients. If a teacher shows up, all other orders are erased and you will have to quickly fill the order of the teacher. Failure to do this will lead to Nancy receiving a demerit. You will have to run the snack shop at least once a day. If you forget to do so, you will also receive demerit points. If you do at least ten full rounds during the game, you will win the Short Order Cook award at the end of the game.

Answer: Taking pictures for the website

Rachel asks you for help on her assignment to design the website of Waverley Academy. Her first task is for you to take a photo of all six valedictorian candidates and upload them to the website. You can take a photo by using the camera option on your phone. You have to make sure to center the picture the right way and zoom in properly. If you fail to get it right, Rachel will make a comment on the website explaining what is wrong with the picture.

Later on in the game Rachel will also ask you to add the information of all candidates to the website, using a set of logical clues to figure out who goes in what position. Her last assignment will be to photograph a few Waverley icons, including the oak tree and the grand arch at the entrance.

It is Izzy Romero who asks you to complete the DNA model for her. To do so you will have to follow a few rules about where each element goes. In exchange she will give you the password for the Waverley website.

Answer: She sets up you up on the local network, so you can receive text messages

Izzy will set you up on the local network, so you can start receiving text messages. After that you will regularly receive text messages with the latest gossip. You will be informed about Izzy stealing the boyfriend of Leela Yadav for instance. If you follow up on the gossip and talk to those involved each time, you can win the Gossip Monger award at the end of the game.

Nancy soon finds out that every girl is talked about at one point. There are rumours that she was kicked out of the school in France because of boyfriend problems during the game.

Answer: Cello

Mel Corbalis plays the cello. Other students tell Nancy that she would play it all day, if it was not forbidden to make noise after 11 PM. When asked, Mel will explain she also plays the synthesizer, emphasizing that she does not mean the one on the computer.

There is a piano in the hall of the academy. Mel does not mention being able to play it. Nancy will notice during the game that two lamps near the piano hold some kind of code. They feature a set of musical notes. When she finds the journal of one of the founders of the academy, Rita Hallowell, she learns in what order she should play the notes on the piano. Playing the correct sequence will open a secret compartment with a special token in it. If you play the piano at least five times during the game (you can play a random melody), you win the Musical Virtuoso award at the end of the game.

Answer: Jakob Pryce

Paper Trail is an online tool that the teachers use to compare a paper with those already online. The paper that Mel handed in was a match for one of the papers found on Paper Trail. Using a data code, Nancy is able to find out the IP-address that was used to put the paper on Paper Trail. She first has to figure out the address from a few choices, knowing that the numbers in the address do not repeat. Once she finds the right address, she learns that the paper was placed online by Jakob Pryce. It was placed online after Mel handed it in.

Jakob is the boyfriend of Leela Yadav originally, but later Izzy Romero steals him from her. Naturally the blame falls on them to be behind the attempt to frame Mel. It is revealed later that Mel had received a second note from "The Black Cat", making it possible that Izzy or Leela are responsible for writing the threatening notes.

Answer: Leela Yadav

When Nancy receives a text message that the book is hidden in the room shared by Izzy Romero and Leela Yadav, she goes to investigate. She uses an ID-card she found in a book about Victorian dining to enter the room. She finds the book near Leela's bed. The text message however indicates that it was planted there by "The Black Cat".

In the book Nancy finds a list of works by Edgar Allan Poe. If they are put in the right order, they reveal the order in which Nancy needs to place the tokens she found during the game in the niche in the basement. When Nancy places the tokens correctly, she will find a picture of Rita Hallowell with her black cat. Early on in the game Izzy will explain to Nancy that during history the black cat was often seen after Rita had died. In the basement Nancy will also find the cellar plan, revealing that there is a room hidden behind the furnace.

Answer: Mel Corbalis

Nancy knows that Mel Corbalis wears a barrette in her hair. She confronts Mel and gets her to confess about the Blackwood Society. The society was founded years ago. The leader chooses seven girls to join the society. Nobody knows who is in the society. They regularly meet at night, just standing around saying nothing. They only sing a mysterious chant.

When Nancy investigates in the room of Leela and Izzy, she finds the cloak of the leader in a chest owned by Izzy. Izzy eventually tells her the words to the mysterious chant. They give her a clue on how to move the valves of the furnace in the basement to enter the secret room behind it.

Answer: Air Hockey

Leela challenges Nancy to play Air Hockey with her. If Nancy defeats her, she will give Nancy a picture of Megan Vargas. Nancy needs that picture for the assignment given to her by Rachel Hubbard. If you play Leela at least ten times at either Scram or Air Hockey, you will win the Master Duelist award at the end of the game.

Double Take is a memory game, that can be found on the website of Waverley Academy. If you manage to hold on to the top score at the end of the game, you will win the All School Champ award.

Scopa is a card game. You will play it in "The Phantom of Venice". The game of "Model Match" is a game you will play in "Dangerous by Design".

Answer: There are actually two Rachels

During the game, a lot of the students tell Nancy that Rachel's behaviour is a little strange. She will say something, and then completely deny it the next time you speak to her. As Nancy follows Rachel at night, she finds a special door in Rachel's room. When she manages to get past the door by moving around the star symbol without going over existing lines, she ends up in the attic and is suddenly confronted by two Rachels.

The two girls explain they are sisters called Rachel and Kim. They could get into this academy, but only one of them could get in. They decided to share the place. One of them stays in the attic room, while the other plays the role of Rachel. This explains why they respond differently each time.

"The Black Cat" has found about their secret and now blackmails the girls, forcing them to deliver the threatening notes. They say they have no idea who the "Black Cat" is.

Answer: Behind the cornerstone at the side of the building

She finds the journal behind the cornerstone at the side of the building. A talk with Mel about the stapler hanging in her room, leads Nancy to a book called "The Story of Four" by Madeline Moore, on the Special Collections shelf. She learns about the history of Waverley Academy from that book. The book also explains the special relationship between Edgar Allan Poe and Rita Hallowell. The picture of the cornerstone in the book is different from the actual cornerstone. When Nancy rearranges the parts of the slab, a special compartment is opened with the journal.

Nancy does find a map of the American States in the classroom and also a picture of a raven. When you touch certain parts of the raven in the right order, a compartment is opened and will reveal a special token. It does however cause the picture of the states to collapse. You have to place all states back on to the map.

The Celebratory Dinner Cabinet is another location where you can find a special token. You have to touch the flatware in the display cabinet in the correct order of a Victorian menu. You can find the menu when you ask Leela Yadav about it. The display suggests the menu is in her possession.

Answer: Resorting to Danger

One of the easter eggs has a connection to Resorting to Danger, one of the games in the Nancy Drew Dossier series. They are somewhat different from the Nancy Drew regular games, providing more clues and requiring the player to succesfully combine objects with each other. In "Resorting to Danger" janitor Joanna Brown talks about a book called "Mid-Break at Waverley". In the game the ISBN number of that book is clearly seen. If you type in the ISBN number and then locate the book, you will find an easter egg.

The second easter egg can be found while placing the special tokens in the basement. If you place them in alphabetical order in the only place that holds four tokens, you will also find an easter egg.

The final egg can be found when touching parts of the raven in the correct order in the classroom. This will reveal the third egg.

Answer: Corine Myers

Nancy gains access to the secret room behind the furnace in the basement. She uses the chant from the "Blackwood Society" to determine the correct way to place the valves. When she enters the room, she finds her roommate Corine Myers. She had discovered while studying Edgar Allan Poe that Rita Hallowell knew him and had hidden a treasure somewhere on the grounds of "Waverley Academy". It turns out to be a manuscript written by Edgar Allan Poe. Corine did know that Rita had hidden it, but did not know where. She also did not have the clues that Nancy found during her investigation. So she was forced to search the entire building. That's why she became "The Black Cat" restoring the old legend, trying to scare away her fellow students during mid-term break freeing her to search for the manuscript.

Corine escapes to a passage closing behind her, leaving Nancy to open the door by solving a puzzle with sliding handles. If she does not open the door in time a swinging axe slowly coming down from the ceiling will cut her in half. The puzzle is inspired by "The Pit and the Pendulum", a book by Edgar Allan Poe.

Answer: Mel Corbalis

The passage ends up in the room of Mel Corbalis. Imagine her surprise when Corine suddenly steps into her room coming from the wall. And straight after she is followed by Nancy. Mel won't let them leave the room, before they explain. Corine is caught and soon expelled from the academy.

In the epilogue Nancy explains all. She also informs us that Rachel and Kim are originally expelled as well, but later get reinstated. Be sure to stay tuned after the credits, as some funny bloopers will be shown.
