Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Now that all complications have been settled for now, the Devon researcher will give you a Great Ball and introduce you to the President of the corporation. What does he ask you to do for him?

Answer: Take a letter to Steven

Although you don't know this yet, Steven is the champion of the Elite Four. He'll show up every now and then to give advice. Right now, all you have to do is get the letter to Seven who is currently studying Granite Cave. Steven will reward you with TM 47 (Steel Wing) and run off, leaving you to your adventure.
2. What does the second badge, the Knuckle Badge, allow you to do?

Answer: Use Flash

Flash does no offensive damage in a battle and there are not many places you'll need it, but it's nice to have for those dark areas, like Granite Cave.
3. Here, in Dewford Town, you can get a nice item that will help you to finally catch some water Pokémon. What is this item?

Answer: Old Rod

You can't catch much more than Tentacool and Magikarp with the old rod, but both of these Pokémon can evolve into much stronger forms. Tentacrule (the evolved form of Tentacool) is a fast Water type Pokémon that can learn a healthy variety of attacks, and Gyrados (the evolved form of Magikarp) is an all around good Pokémon which can be quite devastating in the higher levels, with a few convenient lower level attacks such as Dragon Rage which deals forty damage regardless of type.
4. What is the name of the cave on the outskirts of Dewford Town?

Answer: Granite Cave

Granite cave is where you'll find Steven, and you'll probably want Flash to get around. Granite cave is home to a bunch of new Pokémon of an assortment of types. There's Fighting (Makuhita), Ghost (Sableye), Rock (Geodude), Poison (Zubat), Steel (Aron) and Psychic (Abra).
5. Once you're all done in Dewford Town, you will want to sail to Slateport City. When you arrive on Slateport Beach you will notice a house on the western edge. What is this place?

Answer: Seashore House

There are three trainers in the Seashore House. Once all have been defeated, the man running the place will give you a six pack of Soda and will vend them for 300 each after that.
6. You'll find a long line of enemy team members waiting in line to get into the Oceanic Museum, effectively cutting off your access. How do you get rid of the line?

Answer: Talk to the person at the shipyards

The person at the shipyards will tell you that Captain Stern is at the museum. Head back to the museum and the doors won't be clogged with gang members. Go upstairs to find Captain Stern, and as soon as you talk to him, you'll be attacked by two enemy team members. Defeat both enemy team members and then hand over the Devon Goods to Captain Stern. Captain Stern will head off for his sea floor expedition and you'll have to look for more errands, as you'll be out of them by now.
7. Which of the following cannot be found in Slateport City?

Answer: Move Deleter

In the fan club you can get a Soothe Bell if one of your Pokémon really likes you, and there's a reporter that you can talk to. The name rater basically just lets you give your Pokémon new nicknames, and the contest building here is for the Hyper Contest, which you won't be able to participate in until one of your Pokémon has won a Normal Contest, which can be found in Verdanturf Town.
8. To make Pokéblocks, you need something to hold them in. What is this?

Answer: Pokéblock Case

A little girl in the Hyper Contest building will give you one of these just for talking to her. Once you have it, you can make Pokéblocks by blending berries with up to four other people. Pokéblocks will increase the contest states of which ever Pokémon eats it, but may change its mood towards you, for better or worse.
9. There is a special place on Route 110. It's not mandatory, but you can get a fair amount of experience and items in there. What is the name of this place?

Answer: The Trick House

The Trick House has eight different floors. You have to beat them all in order, and you'll have to beat the Elite Four if you want to challenge the eighth. The floors will be reconfigured every time you reach a certain point in the game, such as gaining a gym badge. You don't have to go back to the trick house every time; you could complete more than one floor at a time, but like I said, the final floor will have to wait until after the Elite Four.
10. You also have to battle someone important on Route 110. Who?

Answer: Your rival

This battle will be a bit tougher than your first rival battle. His/her starter has grown to its second form and knows a few special abilities, making it a lot more effective against your starter. He/she also has two more Pokémon (either: Numel, Wailmer, and/or Shroomish) that will be the same types as the two starter Pokémon he/she didn't choose.

For example, if he/she chose Treeco (grass) at the beginning, he/she would have a Wailmer (water), Numel (fire), and Grovyle, the evolved form of Treeco (grass).
