1. When you first start to control your character, where are you?

The first time you are actually able to move your character is when you are in the back of the moving van. The door opens and you are able to move around.

Steven actually told you, earlier in the game, that he like Steel Pokémon and that his favorite move is Steel Wing (He also gave you TM 47 (Steel Wing) in Granite Cave). There aren't many types that are weak against Steel, but Steel has a lot of resistances. Fire, Fighting, and Ground are the only types that actually have an advantage against Steel, and there are very few types that are indifferent. Coupled with the high defensive score Steel types normally get, they'll be hard to take down.

Answer: Pacifidlog Town

Pacifidlog Town has a Pokémon center and a few houses (no Contest Building, nor Mart). The entire town afloat in the water. There is honestly not much to do here. Trade a Bellossom for a Corsola (even though you can catch your own), get either TM 27 (Return) or TM 21 (Frustration) from the Pokémon Fan Club Chairmans' brother. And finally, a man will tell you of Mirage Island, an island that appears and disappears.

Answer: Shoal Cave

There is a high tide and a low tide within the cave. During the high tide you can surf around the cave and look for Shoal Shells (four in all), as well as a Rare Candy and a Big Pearl. During low tide, you can find Ice Heal, Nevermeltice, and TM 07 (Hail), as well as four Shoal Salt. If you take the four Shoal Salt and four Shoal Shells to the man in the canter of the cave near the entrance, he'll make a Shell Bell, which works somewhat like Leftovers, it slowly gives the equipped Pokémon back some lost health after every turn.

Answer: The Berry Master

The Berry Master has twelve slots of loamy soil for you to plant your berries in, but until then, you'll need to pick the ones already there. There are Rawst, Sitrus, Pecha, Leppa, Qualot, Grepa, and Pomeg berries already planted at the Berry Master's house. If you replant some of them, this will be a nice and convenient place to plant, pick, and replant your berries for the future. Also, the Berry Master will give you two rarer berries every day if you bother to talk to him.

The Hot Springs don't actually help you much in your quest, but you can still wade in the water. Also, near the pool there's a lady that will give you an egg that will hatch into a Wynaut.

There's a small house on this route. The man inside will give you the Soot Sack so you can run around in the tall grass collecting ash for him to make flutes out of. Flutes are handy items; they heal certain conditions and can be used over and over again. The Red Flute, for example, can snap a Pokémon out of its Attraction to another without having to switch or run away (there's no other in-battle cure for Attraction). There is also a small bit of ash covered grass on Jagged Pass, but that's not a route.

Wally just has a level 16 Ralts and is fairly easy to beat. Once he figures out that he's not ready to face the gym leader, he walks back to Verdanturf Town with his uncle. After this, you're free to enter the gym.

There are plenty of items to collect in Petalburg Woods, but you'll need Cut before you can get them all. When working your way north through the woods, you'll see a shady character attack a Devon researcher. This character is either a member of Team Magma (for "Ruby" players) or Team Aqua (for "Sapphire" players). You have to protect the researcher by battling the character. Once he has been defeated, the researcher will give you a Great Ball and run off for Rustboro City where your enemy team is plotting something.

After the van stops, the only thing you can do is jump out. There are no secrets or anything to do the cramped space, so just exit and get some fresh air.

By using Dive in a certain location inside the Abandoned Ship, the player can find an underwater passage that leads to a more secluded area of the ship. Here, the player can find the Scanner. Captain Stern is at the Slateport Harbor and will trade either a Deep Sea Tooth or a Deep Sea Scale (player's choice) for the Scanner. The Blue Orb is something else entirely; it is used to awaken or capture either Groudon or Kyogre, depending on the game.

Ralts will evolve into Kirlia and then later into Gardevoir. Ralt's Pokémon Power is either Trace or Synchronize, Trace copies the enemy Pokémon's ability and Synchronize will pass any status problem onto the enemy Pokémon. Abra can be found in Granite Cave and Spoink can be found in Route 112.

There will be a few places to stop, a few trainers to battle, and a few items to pick up, though, so you'll want to get through the currents more than once.
