Answer: Petalburg Woods

There are plenty of items to collect in Petalburg Woods, but you'll need Cut before you can get them all. When working your way north through the woods, you'll see a shady character attack a Devon researcher. This character is either a member of Team Magma (for "Ruby" players) or Team Aqua (for "Sapphire" players). You have to protect the researcher by battling the character. Once he has been defeated, the researcher will give you a Great Ball and run off for Rustboro City where your enemy team is plotting something.

Answer: Pretty Petal Flower Shop

You cannot actually buy anything here just yet, but if you come back later, you'll be able to buy plants for your secret base. Plants range from anywhere between 3000 and 5000.

Answer: Wailmer Pail

The Wailmer Pail is used to water seeds that have been planted in loamy soil to help them grow. There are no drawbacks to using it, and it never runs out of water.

Answer: It's 2 vs 2

Even if you make eye contact, you wont be challenged by a pair of trainers. You have to talk to them to start the battle. This is the way it works for all 2 vs 2 battles in these games. 2 vs 2 battles can be either easier or harder depending on which Pokémon are battling.

Some times they can cover each other's weaknesses, or use certain combos, but they can also prove to be extra difficult sometimes. Your Pokémon might have a type advantage against one of your opponents, but a weakness to the other.

Answer: Talk to the man in the cutter's house

On the west side of town, right beside the Pokémon Center, you can find a one story house. The man inside will give you HM01 (Cut) just for talking to him. You will need the Stone Badge, though, before you'll be able to use it.

Answer: Quick Claw

The old man at the front of the room will quickly walk around the room, when you talk to him and then come back after startling a kid. He'll explain that if the kids don't do their work, they'll get a taste of his Quick Claw, and then he'll give it to you.

The Quick Claw can give the Pokémon equipped with it a chance to attack first even if the Pokémon's speed is low. Equipped to a heavy rock Pokémon or something, you could have a fast, hard hitter with enough defense and HP to make any battle winnable.

Answer: Rock

If you chose either Mudkip or Treeko as your starting Pokémon, then you shouldn't have too much trouble beating Roxanne. If you chose Torchic, then one of your new Pokémon should have at least one attack that's good against rock. Once you have beaten Roxanne, she'll give you the Stone Badge and TM 39 (Rock Tomb).

Answer: Devon Goods

This enemy team member is the same one you fought in Petalburg Woods, and the man chasing him was the same researcher you rescued. The enemy team member hasn't gone far and has not gotten much stronger than last time.

Answer: Peeko

Peeko is Mr. Briney's Wingull and he will normally say its name whenever he sets sail. Once you retrieve the Pokémon he'll repay you by offering to take you to Dewford Town and Slateport City whenever you like.

Answer: Rusturf Tunnel

This cave was meant to be a passage between Rustboro City and Verdanturf Town (hence the "Rust" from "Rustboro City" and the Turf" from Verdanturf") but construction was cancelled because it kept disturbing the wild Pokémon. Eventually, once you have Rock Smash, this tunnel will be the only way to get from West-Hoenn to Mid-Hoenn.
