Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What game, developed by the same company who created "Kirby", features an antagonist named "King Egger"?

Answer: Adventures of Lolo

"Adventures of Lolo" is a puzzle game for the NES, and the company that wasn't named in the question was HAL Laboratory. "Adventures of Lolo" is the first of three games on the NES and is known for clever level and puzzle design.
2. In "Metroid II: Return of Samus", what is the name of the planet on which Samus exterminates the Metroid threat?

Answer: SR388

Planet Zebes is the planet that Samus returns to in "Super Metroid", Ceres is the name of the station that she initially delivers the infant Metroid to after the events of "Metroid II: Return of Samus". Aether is the planet that Samus completes a mission on in "Metroid Prime 2".
3. In "Super Mario World", what color are Yoshi's arms no matter what color Yoshi you're riding? Keep in mind that there are various different colors of Yoshi you can ride.

Answer: Orange

Yoshi's arms are always organge, regardless of which Yoshi you're riding. This was rectified in the Game Boy Advance version, in which Yoshi's arm color matches his body. "Super Mario World" was also the very first appearance of Yoshi in the series' timeline.
4. 3D Realms is known for creating games like "Duke Nukem 3D", and earlier in its lifespan, "Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold" and other games of the like. What was 3D Realms originally known as in the years of shareware distribution?

Answer: Apogee Software

Apogee was the legal name for the company, and 3D Realms was initially a subdivision of the company that focused primarily on 3D games, because at the time Apogee still created many platformers and side scrollers (ie. "Hocus Pocus", the original "Duke Nukem" series) but later took on 3D Realms as a whole, because the aforementioned side scrollers and platformers were starting to die out at the end of the '80s and start of the '90s.
5. In "Mario Kart 64", which of these items can not be thrown forward?

Answer: Fake Item Box

The Fake Item Box in "Mario Kart 64" is also the only item that can block incoming items in any of the "Mario Kart" games. In later "Mario Kart" games, the item box is able to be thrown forward.
6. "RayForce" was a vertical scrolling shooter for arcade and the Sega Saturn, and it had a sequel on Playstation 1 called "RayStorm". The North American version of "RayForce" had an entirely different name when it was published by Acclaim Entertainment, but what was it called?

Answer: Galactic Attack

"Layer Section" is the name of the home port of "RayForce" in Japan. "Gunlock" is the name of the European arcade version, and "RayCrisis" is a prequel that was made in 1998. The name "Galactic Attack" seems arbitrarily chosen like the other various names in other regions, but this was actually due to trademark issues, which has led to much confusion with the title.
7. What game, the first in its series, features an antagonist named Death Adder? Some of the sequels also feature the same antagonist.

Answer: Golden Axe

"Golden Axe" was created by Makoto Uchida, the same creative force behind "Altered Beast". "Final Fight" was intended to be Capcom's sequel to "Street Fighter" and "The Combatribes" was developed by the same people behind "Double Dragon," another well-known beat-em-up.
8. What game was developed by Square for the Playstation 1, featured a techno soundtrack, used 2.5D visuals, and wasn't an RPG? This game hearkens back to one of their first titles on the NES, "King's Knight."

Answer: Einhander

"Einhander" is a side-scrolling shooter that hearkens back to Square's earlier days, almost as an homage to their start with games like "King's Knight" on the NES, which was a vertically scrolling shooter game set in a fantasy world, that preceded their RPG success. "Einhander" is the German word for "one-hander" in relation to a sword - this is reflective of the design of the ships piloted in the game.
9. What game released for the Satellaview served as a side story for "Chrono Trigger," and eventually served as inspiration for "Chrono Cross"?

Answer: Radical Dreamers

"Radical Dreamers" is a text-based adventure style game that acts as a side story to "Chrono Trigger". Many elements from "Radical Dreamers" were used later in "Chrono Cross". "Chrono Trigger Jet Bike Special" was a Satellaview broadcast, like Albert Odyssey, and The Wings of Time is simply a nickname for the Epoch in "Chrono Trigger".
10. In "Final Fantasy 6" ("3" in the US), what is the antagonist, Kefka's last name?

Answer: Palazzo

Kefka Palazzo is the main antagonist of "Final Fantasy 6". Setzer Gabbiani is one of the characters you can get in your party, and is a world known gambler and owner of the Blackjack airship. Lock Cole is a thief (but if you asked him, he'd assure you he's a "treasure hunter"), and Terra Branford is arguably the protagonist.
