Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first animal seen in the trilogy was a harmless native of Eden Prime.

Answer: Gas Bag

Gas bags were seen on Eden Prime. They harmlessly floated about, oblivious to anything Shepard did. Kaidan was shocked to see them, but Jenkins, who was born on Eden Prime, said that there was nothing to worry about. Gas bags would explode if they were shot.
2. A dog-like creature often used by krogan and Blood Pack mercenaries.

Answer: Varren

Varren were space dogs with particularly large teeth. Feral varren could be found on a few worlds, while others were raised to fight alongside mercenary groups. Feral varren were seen on Feros in "Mass Effect", used by batarians in the "Bring Down the Sky" DLC. In "Mass Effect 2" they were often used by Blood Pack mercenaries.
3. A space monkey that is sometimes abused by renegade players.

Answer: Pyjack

In "Mass Effect", pyjacks were just called monkeys (or space monkeys). They were found on the optional world of Eletania, where one had run off with a data module. They were harmless, but Shepard could still shoot them, with disapproving remarks from the squad.

In "Mass Effect 2" they are called pyjacks, and treated as a nuisance. On Tuchanka they tormented the krogan by eating food stores, and Shepard could shoot them with a cannon. There was also a pet Pyjack on Tunchanka that Shepard could punch for no reason.
4. A tool used by the Thorian on Feros.

Answer: Creeper

The creepers were strong enemies used by the Thorian to defend itself. They worked beside the other humans and aliens the Thorian had enthralled. They were tall and very strange, with a strong vomit attack and melee skills.
5. A harmless creature found on the tropical world of Virmire.

Answer: Pod Crab

Virmire was a tropical world with beautiful oceans, landscapes, and life. The first creature to be seen was the pod crab, which was a four-legged crustacean. They were harmless, and would explode when shot or hit by the Mako. In a news report, a researcher on Virmire was killed by the creatures while studying them.
6. A large bug that explodes when it dies.

Answer: Klixen

Klixen were seen in "Mass Effect 2", mostly on Tuchanka. They would attack en masse, but only had melee abilities. When they died, they would explode, encouraging a ranged approach when facing them.
7. A large burrowing worm that can take down even Reapers.

Answer: Thresher Maw

Thresher maws were very large worms that would attack anything that entered their lair, sometimes devouring entire vehicles. They were found on many different worlds in "Mass Effect", and Cerberus even lured alliance marines to a known thresher maw location so they could study it.

In "Mass Effect 2", Shepard fought a thresher maw as part of Grunt's loyalty mission. In "Mass Effect 3", Kalros, the mother of all threshers, was lured by Shepard to destroy a Reaper on Tuchanka.
8. A large flying creature corrupted by the Reapers.

Answer: Harvester

Harvesters were very large flying animals found on a few planets. A harvester was seen on Tarith in "Mass Effect 2". It could not be directly fought, but would drop klixen to fight for it. In "Mass Effect 3", the harvesters were corrupted by the Reapers into the enemy of the same name. Shepard could fight them on a number of worlds.
9. Commander Shepard's personal pet on board the Normandy.

Answer: Space Hamster

In "Mass Effect 2", Shepard could purchase a hamster on the Citadel, and keep it as a pet on the Normandy. In "Mass Effect 3" Shepard could find the hamster running around in the bottom of the ship, and return it to its cage. In the "Citadel" DLC, the hijackers of the Normandy tried to get rid of the hamster with a note to have it destroyed.
10. A shifty one of these might eat your credits while you're not looking.

Answer: Space Cow

In "Mass Effect", space cows appeared on a few worlds. They looked somewhat like proto-horses with an additional set of arms. The lead designer thought the space cow concept art looked unsettling, and a single "Shifty Looking Cow" was added on the planet Ontarom. If Shepard looked at the cow, it would stay still, but would approach if not watched. If it got to Shepard, it would start eating credits.
