Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the game, what gift does Peach offer to Mario?

Answer: A cake

In the beginning cutscene, Peach sends Mario a letter saying she's baked a cake for him. When Mario discovers Bowser has stolen Peach AGAIN, he sets off in his first 3-D platformer.
2. When Mario enters Bob-Omb Battlefield, which character does he meet near the first cannon?

Answer: Bob-Omb Buddy

Bob-Omb Buddies are vital in this game, as unlocking cannons must be used for several stars throughout the levels. Some levels don't have cannons, so therefore there is no Bob-Omb Buddy in them.
3. If Mario loses his cap, he will take more damage than usual.

Answer: True

Mario is somehow weaker without a cap. This is noticeable in other games, like when Mario loses health every few seconds in "Super Mario Sunshine" until he dies. Mario can only lose his cap in certain levels like Tall Tall Mountain.
4. After you've beaten the pushover Big Bob-Omb, you may head on to Whomp's Fortress. How do you defeat a Whomp?

Answer: You smash it

Whomps are fairly weak in the game. There is something in which you can get five coins by jumping on them once they've smashed down. They also release five coins when you defeat them.
5. There is a secret in the far right on top of the first floor of the castle. Which stained glass window must you enter to reach this level?

Answer: The right one

This level is actually a slide. It's not very "secret" as most secret levels are reached by unexpected means. There are two stars here: one is for simply making it to the end of the slide, the other is for beating the slide in less than twenty-one seconds.
6. Bowser is hiding in the Dark World near the staircase to the second floor. How do you defeat him?

Answer: You fling him into a bomb

There always are new strategies for fighting Bowser and this is a memorable one. You run around him, grab his tail, and use the analog stick to swing him around and around until you have enough momentum to throw him into a bomb. If Mario throws him far enough, you'll hear Mario say, "So long-y, Bowser."
7. Hazy Maze Cave is unique. What does the cave NOT have?

Answer: A house

While having no house, there appears to be an abandoned mining system, most likely Bowser's. There are several hazards, and a good way to avoid them is the metal cap, which is unlocked here. It seems that Hazy Maze Cave is close to the castle, as the metal cap course has a waterfall leading to the outside of the castle.
8. There are fifteen courses in the game. Which is the twelfth course here?

Answer: Tall, Tall Mountain

Tall, Tall Mountain is a level where you scale the mountain for practically all of the stars. It is the opposite of Cool, Cool Mountain as you go down the mountain there. In Tall, Tall Mountain, there are two situations where you can lose your cap: one is Ukiki the monkey and the other is the cloud enemy higher up.
9. In Shifting Sand Land, you must stand tall and proud on the four pillars. Once you do this, you need to enter the pyramid from the top. Doing this leads you to a boss. Who is this boss?

Answer: Eyerok

Eyerok is a two-in-one, as you fight two brick hands with eyes in the palms. Eyerok doesn't have very good grammar, apparently, as he speaks slowly as if almost forgetting how to talk. To defeat him, you have to punch him in each eye three times when they open.
10. If you get to the top of the castle, the game gives you more health.

Answer: False

If you use the cannon (or the moonjump hack on emulator) you can find Yoshi. After talking to him, he gives you one hundred lives and disappears. You can't find him after this, so it's useless searching for him.
