Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Bob-omb Battlefield", can you find a warp-spot?

Answer: Yes

There are actually two warp-spots in the entire level. The first one is in two flower gardens. One of these is near the Koopa at the cannon in the middle of the field, and another is in the field across the bridge near the Chain Chomp. The second set of warp-points are in the mountain.

In either of the two caves in the side of the mountain, move right to the back and remain motionless. You will then warp to the next cave. This is very useful in the race with Koopa the Quick.
2. In "Whomp's Fortress", where can you find Hoot the Owl?

Answer: In a tree

After obtaining the first two stars in the level, you can find Hoot the Owl in the tree next to the starting point. If you wake him up, he will fly you to the fifth star of the level. Once you're holding onto his talons, you can control him to fly you over a small cage containing the star. When you're confident that you can land into it, you can drop down and claim the star.
3. In "Jolly Roger Bay", how many treasure chests can be found inside the sunken ship?

Answer: Four

In order to enter the sunken ship, you need to lure Unagi the seal out, and then enter through his window. Once inside, you need to open four chests in a specific order, and then the ship will be empty. After this, you can claim your star from a box, and the ship will be raised in future levels.

There are also four chests inside a cave in this level, and you open them with the same combination that you used in the ship. Once again, the prize is a star.
4. In "Cool, Cool Mountain", how many red coins are found on the slide (within the mountain)?

Answer: None

All of the red coins are scattered throughout the outdoor portion of the level. Some may be found within trees, near the gondola, and in hard to reach locations, and many are in the lower half of the level. To go back to the top of the level, there is a warp-point at the tip of the broken bridge at the base of the mountain.

This will transport you to the tip of the broken bridge at the beginning of the level.
5. Which cap is required to access a star in "Big Boo's Haunt"?

Answer: Vanish Cap

Mario needs the vanish cap for the sixth star 'Eye to Eye in the Secret Room'. First, he has to put on the Vanish Cap, wall jump to the attic, and enter the Boo picture on the side of the wall in the attic. Once there, he has to fight the giant Mr. I for his star. Like any other Mr. I, you need to spin around it to defeat it.
6. In the maze in "Hazy Maze Cave", what enemy can be found?

Answer: Monty Mole

You can also find Snufits and Swoops in the maze. The maze is filled with a toxic green gas which will slowly cause your health to diminish. To replenish it, simply find some coins. You can also use the Metal Caps scattered around to prevent more health from being lost. You must enter the maze at least twice in your journey through the caves in order to obtain two separate stars.
7. Can you find Blue Coins in "Lethal Lava Land"?

Answer: Yes

Like in many other levels, Blue Coins are a fast way to earn the 100-Coin Stars. In this level, you can still hit the Blue Coin switch, and you can also get a Blue Coin from the solitary Mr. I who is visible from the starting point of the level. If you're going for the 100-Coin Star in this level, be sure to get these Blue Coins and the Koopa Shell. With the Koopa Shell, you can ride over the lava and collect the hard-to-reach coins. Don't enter the volcano for coins until you've cleaned up everything outside because you can't escape the volcano without picking up a star inside.
8. In "Shifting Sand Land", how many pillars surround the pyramid?

Answer: Four

On order to obtain a star, Mario needs to climb to the top of all four pillars. Once this is done, the top of the pyramid will shoot off, and you can fall inside. When you do this, you can take an elevator ride to Eyerok, and you can fight him for a star. To defeat him, you need to attack the eyes on his hands. If he hits you twice, you're finished.
9. What is the name of the sixth star in "Dire, Dire Docks"?

Answer: Collect the Caps

In 'Collect the Caps', you need to head to the submarine docking area, and pick up the Vanish Cap on the platform. After this, you need to swim to the cage at the bottom of the sea floor and claim the star. Although the Metal Cap is also on the platform, it is only used to obtain the 'Through the Jet Stream' star in the same area.
10. In "Snowman's Land", how many stars are in the igloo?

Answer: 1

In the task 'Into the Igloo', you need to take a shell and ride to the small fenced area containing the igloo, then you need to crawl inside. To get the star, you need to reach the Vanish Cap, walk through the ice walls, and wall jump to the star. Inside the igloo, you can also find the Pink Bob-omb who will open up the cannon for you.
11. In "Wet-Dry World", how many Pink Bob-omb Cannons can be found?

Answer: One

To reach the Pink Bob-omb, you need to raise the water to either the highest or the second-highest setting in the level and swim up and talk to him. Once this is done, you can access the cannon, and in turn, access the downtown area. Of course, you can always access the downtown area by magically raising the water from outside the level...
12. In "Tall, Tall Mountain", who will steal your hat?

Answer: Ukkiki

Ukkiki will be responsible for helping you obtain a few stars in this stage, but occasionally, he will steal your hat and you will need to catch him to get it back. In "Shifting Sand Land", Klepto the Condor will steal your hat, and to get it back, you have to attack him. Ukkiki is a lot like the rabbit in the basement of Princess Peach's Castle, Mips. You catch Mips twice during the game to get two stars.
13. In "Tiny-Huge Island", when do you race Koopa the Quick?

Answer: When you are tiny

To find Koopa the Quick, you must first obtain the first two stars of the stage, then you must find Koopa the Quick somewhere around the mountain. This time, instead of a regular footrace, you'll have to battle ferocious winds and large iron balls to reach the finish line (a flag). This star is the third in the level.
14. When jumping into "Tick Tock Clock", what time can the picture show so that the clock will be stopped?

Answer: 5:00

As long as you have the minute hand pointing to the twelve, the time in the clock will be stopped. If the minute hand points to another certain area, the speed of the clock will greatly increase. You are able to claim four of the six stars of 'Tick Tock Clock' just with the time stopped although once you reach a certain point in the level, you will not be able to advance any further.
15. In 'Rainbow Ride", where is the Pink Bob-omb cannon?

Answer: On the ship

Although the Pink Bob-omb is near the top of the maze, you need to cross the entire level to reach the cannon. This cannon is used to reach the star 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'. Once you reach the platform containing the star, watch out for the Chuckya who will throw you into the oblivion. If this happens, you'll need to start again.
