Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first stop in the Kitchen is the Beach Bowl Galaxy, which is the first galaxy to contain a large underwater area. What is the name of the large stone where the star, The Secret Undersea Cavern, is located?

Answer: Cyclone Stone

This can be figured out by taking on the Fast Foe Comet Star, Fast Foes on the Cyclone Stone. Fast Foe Comets are the rarest Prankster comets in the game only appearing only twice, once in the Beach Bowl Galaxy and again in the Toy Time Galaxy. Fast foe comets make enemies move faster than they normally would and the main enemies that appear during this time are Thwomps and large boxes that only one side is safe to stand under or you'll get flattened.

This star is almost exactly the same as the Secret Undersea Cavern star.

The only differences are you start out on the Cyclone Stone instead of breaking open the wall to get to the Launch Star, and the foes are obviously faster.
2. In the star titled, Wall Jumping up Waterfalls, you need help from what enemy in order to get the star?

Answer: Cataquack

Cataquacks originally appeared in "Super Mario Sunshine" for the Gamecube and are large duck like creatures. The Cataquacks won't hurt you but they will chase after you and launch you higher than you could reach with a normal jump. In order to get the secret star of the Beach Bowl Galaxy, you need to lure a Cataquack along some docks so he can bounce you up to the ? coin which makes an ice flower appear. Once you turn into Ice Mario, you are able to wall jump up waterfalls since jumping on them will make part of the waterfall freeze. You will eventually reach an area where the fun in the sun disappears as you come across a lake surrounded by ice.

This is where getting the star can get frustrating. Using an ice flower you must walk across the water having a Cataquack chase you on the ice you formed...without falling off and drowning.

The Cataquack will appear again if it drowns but it may take a while for the Cataquack to finally get to the small island with the star above it. You will use Cataquacks again in the Gold Leaf Galaxy for the aptly named, Cataquack to the Skies, star.
3. When playing as Luigi, the first star in the Ghostly Galaxy is called Mario and the Haunted Mansion.

Answer: False

Surprising enough it is called Luigi and the Haunted Mansion so basically you're rescuing yourself. Most instances of Mario, when playing as Luigi, are replaced and vice versa such as the star, Bee Mario Takes Flight, would be Bee Luigi Takes Flight.

In order to play as Luigi you must collect all 120 stars and beat Bowser in Bowser's Galaxy Reactor twice. Luigi can jump higher than his brother but has a lot less traction than Mario. Once you complete this star, with either character, and rescue Luigi, Luigi will send you a letter with a snapshot showing where he found a Power Star. You need to find out where the snapshot was taken and rescue Luigi to get a Power Star from him.

This will only happen three times. One advantage of having Luigi is, if you talk to the Mailtoad he will give you 20 extra lives instead of the normal five.

It is kind of a slap in the face that Peach only sent a letter to Mario but you can't complain with 20 extra lives.
4. What is the name of the Boo's language?

Answer: Booish

This is an obscure fact that's not too hard to miss. In the star "Luigi and the Haunted Mansion," you will find a sign near the first Boo mushroom. If you try to read the sign it will tell you "this sign is written in Booish." However, once you transform into Boo Mario, or Boo Luigi, you will be able to read it and it just tells you how to pass through walls and float. Boo Mario, or Boo Luigi can pass through mesh walls by turning invisible and can float.

The only problem is that Boos are attracted to you and will often slowly chase you.

The only way to get out of Boo form is to be hit by an enemy, usually a Boo, or to get in a spot of light, which is also how you kill normal Boos. In order to rescue Luigi, or your clone if playing as Luigi, you must come out of Boo form or else Luigi, or your clone, will be scared of you.

Another obscure fact is that the reason Luigi is in the mansion, is because the boss of the Ghostly Galaxy, Bouldergeist, captured him.
5. What is unique about the Buoy Base Galaxy?

Answer: none of these

The only other one star galaxy to have two stars is the Gateway Galaxy which is the galaxy you arrived in when you first arrived in outer space and you got your first Grand Star. You can return again, to get the star Gateway's Purple Coins, in which you get a red Power star, which makes red stars appear around the Comet Observatory allowing you to fly. You also swim underwater in the Drip Drop Galaxy and the Bigmouth Galaxy and you find penguins in the Loopdeloop Galaxy, Loopdeswoop Galaxy, the Drip Drop Galaxy, and the Bigmouth Galaxy, all of these galaxies being one star galaxies. Buoy Base Galaxy contains one of the three green Power stars you need to unlock the Trial galaxies.

The others are found in the Dusty Dune Galaxy and the Battlerock Galaxy.

In order to get the other star of Buoy Base, you need a torpedo to chase you and break open a glass dome that contains a green pipe. Go down the pipe and have Bullet Bills chase you to break open the glass dome that contains the star.
6. You meet the Toad Brigade once again in the Bubble Breeze Galaxy. What is the name of the only star in the Bubble Breeze Galaxy?

Answer: Through the Poison Swamp

This name couldn't be more accurate as the majority of the floor of the level is toxic sludge. In the Bubble Breeze galaxy for the majority of the time you will be encased in a bubble and blowing it around by putting your Wiimote on the correct side of the bubble and pressing the A button while avoiding objects such as mines and large wooden obstacles. And if you think this is difficult, it is nothing compared to the version of this technique needed in the Trial Galaxies in the Bubble Blast Galaxy. To get out of the bubble all you have to do is pop it or press the Z button, but most of the time you don't want to do this as hazards usually lie below you whether it be toxic sludge or a black hole.
7. In Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada, what is the only enemy that does not appear on the deck of the ship where you fight Bowser Jr.?

Answer: Bowser Jr.

Contrary to what you think Bowser Jr. does not appear on the deck but is actually on his own separate ship which has a separate deck. Koopa Troopas of course appear because that is the only way to destroy Bowser Jr.'s ship by throwing Koopa shells at it. Magikoopas, some people call them Kamek even though that's a totally different character, also appear to make your job tougher but throw a shell at them or spin attack them and they'll disappear. Bowser Jr. will shoot Bullet Bills at you also which automatically hone in on you but they're easy to avoid if you stay on the lower level of the deck.

After defeating Bowser Jr., he will run off once again and you will have your third Grand Star.
8. The Hungry Luma, near the Kitchen this time will produce a galaxy called the Drip Drop Galaxy. There are two enemies in this galaxy but one is more important since all of them needed to be defeated in order to get the star of the galaxy. The enemies needed to be defeated are most closely related to which Mario foe?

Answer: Unagi

All of these enemies, except for Blooper, made their first appearance in "Super Mario 64" and some of them continue to appear to wreak havoc in the underwater areas. The main enemy in this Galaxy are giant eels, hence the name of the star Giant Eel Outbreak. Unagi was a giant eel also that appeared in the depths of Jolly Roger Bay. Bubba was a giant fish that appeared in the waters of Tiny Huge Island, and Sushi was a shark that appeared in Dire, Dire Docks.

This whole galaxy is a watery sphere except for two small islands that contain penguins who complain about the eels. Torpedo Ted, underwater versions of Bullet Bills also appear, but you can usually outswim them.

The only way to defeat the giant eels are to throw shells at them. The easiest way to get rid of them is to grab a red shell, rather than a green shell, find one and throw the shell because, just as in the "Mariokart" series, a red shell will home in on the nearest enemy.

After destroying all three eels, the lone Power Star will appear on the sunken ship underwater.
9. Out of the two Purple Coin stars in this room, the Ghostly Galaxy has a time limit in which to collect all the coins.

Answer: False

If you read the question very slowly and correctly you would notice that the last three words make the statement false. In the Ghostly Galaxy you do have a time limit, only one minute to collect 100 Purple coins but in the area where the challenge takes place there are 150 purple coins and you do not need to collect all of them to get the star, only 100.

The Purple Coin challenge in this galaxy is called Purple Coins in the Bone Pen. The one in the Beach Bowl Galaxy is called Beachcombing for Purple Coins, and it does not have a time limit but requires massive exploration like in the star The Honeyhive's Purple Coins. Also when collecting the coins in the Ghostly Galaxy, you will be using Pull Stars and you will want to be as close to the middle when you are getting your last few coins as the star will appear in the center of the bone pen and the time limit will not stop when you get 100 coins.
10. How many stars are there to collect in the Kitchen including the Grand Star and the Drip Drop Galaxy?

Answer: Seventeen

There are six in each the Beach Bowl Galaxy and the Ghostly Galaxy, there are two stars to collect in the Buoy Base Galaxy. There is only one star in the Drip Drop Galaxy, the Bubble Breeze Galaxy, and Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada. Oddly enough there are only three boss guarded stars. Two are guarded by Bouldergeist and the other by Bowser Jr.
