Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first stop in the Bedroom is the Gusty Garden Galaxy. In the episode titled "The Dirty Tricks of Major Burrows", how many apples does the giant worm go through before you reach the launch star at the top of it's nose?

Answer: Three

Once again Nintendo returns with it's recurring theme of three. The giant worm resembles a green Wiggler and it moves from apple to apple by ground pounding pegs found in the apples. Major Burrows is the boss of the Gusty Garden Galaxy, which is known to be one of the most favored parts of the soundtrack. Major Burrows is a larger version of the common Mario enemy Monty Mole.

The only difference is that you cannot jump on his head as he has a spiked helmet, and he hides underground until you force him above by ground pounding the ground around him. If you want to collect all 120 stars you will have to battle Major Burrows one more time but with only one unit of health as there will be a Daredevil Comet in orbit. Like the giant worm, Major Burrows will also take three hits to be defeated.
2. What side of the puzzle cube has the most purple coins in the Gusty Garden Galaxy?

Answer: the side that is mainly composed of large hedges

Yes the side with humongous hedges has 31 coins. There are a total of 150 purple coins on the cube. The side with the least amount of coins is the side with the thin horizontal hedges and star bit beds. This side only has 17 coins. The sides with the wooden beams along with the grassy area both have 25 coins.

The side with circular hedges with a hole that leads to the grassy area has 24 coins. The side with the fountain has 28 coins. And since the purple coin challenge is confined to such a small area there is a time limit.
3. Which of the following does NOT appear ever on the icy slope around the frozen lake reached by a sling star in the Freezeflame Galaxy?

Answer: star bits

The Freezeflame Galaxy goes on opposite ends of the spectrum. One side is an icy tundra where the other is a lava filled wasteland. It is very similar to the world Hailfire Peaks in the N64 game "Banjo-Tooie". The main difference is that the majority of the stars in the Freezeflame Galaxy do not incorporate both elements. Purple coins only appear on the slope when a purple comet is in orbit.

A life mushroom doubles Mario's life from three to six. However, when you drop back down to three life sections the life mushroom effect wears off. Life mushrooms often appear in levels that are either very long or have the possibility to cause a lot of life loss. Most times when you enter this level you start on a ring made of ice in which you have to catch a penguin most times.
4. The fiery side of the Freezeflame Galaxy contains the most stars.

Answer: False

There are six stars to get in the Freezeflame Galaxy and of these six, only two are caught on the fiery side. All the other ones take place on the icy side. The two stars found on the fiery side are Freezeflame's Blistering Core, and Hot and Cold Collide.

The four that are mainly found on icy terrain are The Frozen Peak of Baron Brrr, Frosty Cosmic Mario/Luigi Race, Purple Coins on the Summit, and Conquering the Summit. Conquering the Summit can be one of the more annoying ones because it's a long way down and there are several hazards.

Some of these include rocks and icy bats who will freeze you if you touch them or if they touch you. The only way they can be defeated are by fireballs. Thankfully, when you're going around collecting purple coins, the icy bats are no longer there.
5. Which of the following stars contains a stone tower with a whole swarm of hidden Dry Bones in the Dusty Dune Galaxy?

Answer: Bullet Bill on Your Back

This is one of the more interesting stars as it requires you to follow that old adage "know your enemies." Obviously by judging from the title, you have to have a Bullet Bill follow you to break a glass dome concealing the star. To make this star even more difficult is the fact that you have to push a switch to make the ground sink and you have to make the Bullet Bill avoid hitting the ground, Dry Bones, and other domes.

The Dusty Dune Galaxy is the traditional desert world that has appeared as a staple ever since "Super Mario Bros. 2" for the NES.

The Dusty Dune Galaxy is also another one of the few galaxies that has more than one secret star.
6. How many tornadoes are there in the Dusty Dune Galaxy in the mission "Blasting Through the Sand"?

Answer: Eleven

Most of the tornadoes don't hurt you. The only ones that can hurt you are the ones near the path to the switch that raises the sand castle as they fling around debris. However if you jump into it high enough, or avoid it, they won't hurt you. If you jump into a tornado it will spin you around until you spin out and then you will continue to spin until you land.

However, you can land earlier if you press the Z button to do a ground pound. You will encounter this disk with tornadoes three times. Once in this mission, again in "Sandblast Speed Run" and again in the star "Purple Coins in the Sand."
7. Besides the boss galaxy, what is the name of the one star galaxy in the bedroom?

Answer: Honeyclimb Galaxy

Like most one star galaxies, the star is fairly short. As suggested by the name of the Honeyclimb Galaxy, you will be spending the majority of the galaxy as Bee Mario climbing large honeycomb walls. However it is not as easy as it sounds, many of the honeycombs move, and there are other hazards such as Mandibugs.

There is more than one section of a honeycomb wall to climb. If you die on the second section you start on the second section.
8. Bowser's Dark Matter Plant obviously has a lot of dark matter. What comet has to be in orbit in order to encounter dark matter in another galaxy?

Answer: Purple Comet

The purple comet must be in orbit to see dark matter in the Toy Time Galaxy. The dark matter is a little more complex in Bowser's Dark Matter Plant. Dark Matter not only litters the floor but will also form different shapes such as stars that have a sky background.

However, these are death traps. This battle is almost the same as your first battle against Bowser as you must make him land on a blue spot and hit him three times.
9. What enemies appear after you obtain the golden shell in the Bigmouth Galaxy?

Answer: Boos

After a lot of effort of getting the gold shell in the waterlogged galaxy you think it would be as easy as going back to the beginning and opening the chest. Well you're actually right. Boos appear in the water leading to the entrance and because the gold shell is so bright you'll actually eliminate most of the Boos while riding the shell.

The Bigmouth Galaxy requires you to go through many water obstacles such as giant eels, whirlpools, and giant jellyfish. This is also where the main leader of the penguins, Penguru, calls his hideout.

When you open the chest at the beginning of the stage, you find out that the leader of the Toad Brigade is trapped inside. He gives you the power star after you release him.
10. How many damaging, and death-causing, ground surfaces are there in the galaxies in the Bedroom?

Answer: Four

The four damaging, and death-causing surfaces are, the freezing water on the ice side of the Freezeflame Galaxy, the lava on the hot side of the Freezeflame Galaxy, the quicksand covering most of the Dusty Dune Galaxy, and the dark matter found in Bowser's Dark Matter Plant.

The Gusty Garden and the Honeyclimb Galaxy are the only galaxies without damaging ground surfaces. The main way to die in the Gusty Garden Galaxy is by damage as it is one of the gravity-defying galaxies. You can either die in the Honeyclimb Galaxy by taking enough damage or by falling to your doom down a bottomless pit into a black hole.
